Nope. Send more!! Well we recently shipped off RedEye to work in Deland and let's not forget Chris Gray is now working at Sebastian. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

A smart, non-selfish woman who skydives!!! Yeah, that would be me! Well you do appear to be smart, and I can't recall any selfish acts on your part (if you can ignore Mary's two rules of skydiving) and yes you do skydive!!! Dang ... it must be the electric fly swatter ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Having a stocked gear shop is nice, but how often does one buy a ProTrack and/or a Cypres? Don't get me wrong. Having DZs like Perris, Eloy and the big FL DZs is nice and if you're lucky enough to jump at one of these DZs, then all the power to you. But snooty "I jump at so and so place, so I'm better than you" attitudes is what ticks people off. There are enough egos in this sport, DZ egos don't help our cause. Hmmm ... girls at the DZ ... hmmm ... decisions ... I know, assuming I survive "The Bytch" boogie, I'll be in Brush the following weekend. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Don't forget though Mary. I still need to get you a copy of my movie. If I don't see you at a DZ anytime soon, I guess I'll have to mail it. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Judging from what one of my female volleyball teammates told me last night, there are no smart or non-selfish men out there. So what's a guy to do when the women all think we are scum? I know ... skydive!!! Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

That's what I was planning on doing. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Assuming I don't get lost, I should be arriving at Capt Hiram's sometime around midnight on Friday night. Hopefully some people will still be around to play a little while. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

451 jumps in 15 months in the sport. Yup I think I am pretty active. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

First off, if you haven't been on a tandem, then go schedule a time. You won't know what skydiving is like until you try it. Skydiving is not for everyone. But it is an amazing experience for those who can do it. Also, I was a licensed private pilot before I was a skydiver and I do believe that my aviation training made my transition towards skydiving easier. But many successful skydivers don't know how to fly an airplane, so being a pilot isn't a prerequisite. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Welcome to our world. It's been said that skydiving isn't a sport but instead a lifestyle and the longer I'm around, the more I believe it. Would you believe that I am a licensed private pilot (was one before I became a skydiver) and I really don't fly all that much anymore. You see I get everything I need out of skydiving and the bottom line is that I just enjoy being in the air. I like cross-country GA flights, but they are not cheap and they are time consuming. So flying commercial is cheaper and faster. But then commercial aviation is cold and boring compared to general aviation. Anyway ... welcome and tell us about your skydiving experiences as they occur. In my short time in this sport, I have learned that skydivers like to talk about skydiving amoungst each other while whuffos just couldn't care less about our stories and experiences. That looks like a sweat setup for the right person (which I am not, as it's way too small for me). And you should be able to get at least 3k for it (likely more depending on location as BillVon mentioned). But you really need to qualify the potential buyer(s) as in the wrongs hands, it's a potentially deadly rig. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I believe you're just as if not more experienced than I am, so it feels kind of wierd to be saying this. But I'm not small (195-200 lbs naked) and while in Rantoul I got to do a jump or two with a seriously bad ass freeflier/tunnel coach and I asked him how I could slow down while on my head. You'd think he'd come up with some daffy or whatever explaination on how to fly your body. But you know what his answer was? Wear looser and baggy clothing. So I ran off to an outdoors store, and picked up a XXXL sweatshirt for $8. And wouldn't you know it, I've slowed down enough where I can go headdown with people I was never able to go headdown with before. Dress for success!!! Yes I know you didn't say 'backwards', Scott did. Historically I have had better Sundays, but that's likely just because the friends I jump with tend to jump more on Sundays rather than Saturdays. But you never know what a day will be like until you're there. I understand you. We are small fish compared to some other places ... but small fish can still swim. Even though I haven't spent much time at SDTR, I get the impression that there aren't that many experienced people to jump with there (who aren't working at the DZ). Mile-Hi can be clicky (I'm only starting to break in with the bad ass freefliers there) and Brush is always an unknown as to who will be there and who won't (keep in mind the bad ass freefliers from Mile-Hi also jump at Brush). And unfortunately Calhan is currently nothing more than a Cessna DZ and the more experienced people go somewhere else. I can think of a number of people you could do 4-ways with (people like Paul and Melaby come to mind). But they haven't been jumping that much lately as well. As a freeflier, I jump with many different people (some jumps are better than others), but good 4-way teams are harder to come by around here. You're confusing me here Kelli as I really don't know what attitude you are referring to. I know the jumping scene isn't nearly as hip (if that's a good anology) here as it is in other parts of the country. But it's not all that bad either. There is talent in this state (especially some of the people who participate in skydiving and base jumping). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Yes ... welcome to the darkside ... freeflying is serious fun if approached responsibly. I'm only starting to do what your friend did to you and I think it's a great way to give back to the sport. When I was learning freeflying, I thought it was the shitz when a more experienced freeflier geeked me headdown. And now as my skills get better (slowly), I find myself wanting to geek newer jumpers. We all want to be good and jumping more and more will only help us get better. But I like the quote Mike Ortiz once made concerning skydiving as a whole and it goes something like "Take your time mastering each new skill. After all, you've got your whole life to get better". CrazyIvan has been freaking me out for some time now. But I do hope to meet the dude at some boogie one day soon. I'm sure (at least I hope) he's not a freaky in real life as he is here on DZ.COM Oh by the way, I scored 30% gay, so I don't know what that means? I'm sure the jacking off and lesbian intrigue didn't help my score. Maybe I'm just as twisted as CrazyIvan? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

With all due respect, you'd have a much better outlook on us backward bumfuck NOT real dropzones if you actually got some attitude out of your "I jump at Perris Valley" head. You are letting the opinions of a few people form your own opinion about the skydiving scene in a part of the country you know nothing about. I know the DZs and the conditions Kelli speaks of and while she's allowed to have her views on the jumping here in this state, they aren't neary as backwards or as bumfucked as you claim they are. But then what do I know, those freefly jumps I did with Matt (1300+ jumps and arguably the best freeflier in the state), Jason (1900+ jumps with some awesome freefly talent) and Dave (a 2400+ jump extremely talented skydiver) just don't mean as much because I did them at a backwards bumfuck DZ (where it is possible if you're motivated and have enough daylight to make 6-10 jumps per day with a single rig and your own pack jobs). Back on topic ... People like Derek and Kelli are quiting (or taking a break) because they are burnt out. It happens ... I'm not Derek so I don't know why he feels the way he does. I respect him, and do think he and Kelli are doing the right thing by going to play in Colorado's mountains instead of being at the DZ. Because after all, there is life outside of skydiving. But some of us are still HIGH on this sport, and the less negative energy we have to deal with, the better off we'll be. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Any reason to get a 'b' license?
CanuckInUSA replied to SkydiveNFlorida's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
There are pros and cons to having the different licenses and I personally feel that the "B" and "C" mean less than the "A" and "D". Sunnydee did bring up a good point about having at least a "B" so that you don't get left off loads when the winds creep higher. But then jumping in winds suck and staying on the ground isn't always such a bad thing. Another positive aspect of having a certain license is the recommended USPA jump currency times. Obviously, the higher licensed you are, the longer you can go without jumping. For many places being a certain license type qualified is just as good as having the license ("D" being the exception I guess). And if this is the case at the DZs were you may jump, then being qualified will still get you on the loads while saving you some $$$. I skipped my "C", but often when someone wants more than one consecutive jump signed, then I'll sign their logbook using my "A", "B" and "D" numbers. I haven't been around the sport all that long (started in July '02), so it's hard to say what will happen if I survive to be an old timer. But I can't for the life of me see myself quiting anytime soon. I enjoy many other activities (I'm currently very active with hockey and volleyball as well as skydiving but I also like anything to do with the mountains). But skydiving is what I look forward to every weekend. For the time being, I am heeding the warnings from some about not working at a DZ (in terms of tandems, video and AFF) as supposedly once you start doing paid jumps, most (not all) people stop making fun jumps and I can't see myself ever not wanting to freefly with my friends. Beach Jumps!!! I want to do a Beach Jump!!! 10 more sleeps until I arrive in FL for the Bytch Boogie ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I don't expect you to read my mind, but I did factor in 'traffic' in the term 'conditions' when I said "there was plenty of room to play with tighening up or lengthening the carve based on conditions." And on top of that, I did do just a 90 on one of my swoops (after I started doing 270s this weekend) because I felt something was wrong based on the conditions of the approach. Will Dove be able to come out and play at night with the rest of us degenerates, or is she too far from the DZ? Only 11 more sleeps until I arrive in FL for the Bytch Boogie. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I'd hate to have to choose between these two. But I "voted" for skydiving for one simple reason. Sex can be done by virtually everyone, but one only skydives with skydivers. And since most skydivers are cool people, I'd much rather be with cool people. Now if only I could figure out a way to have sex with some cool skychick, I'd be a happy camper. But for the time being, I guess I'll just have to be happy hanging and jumping with the cool skydivers I may know. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

We had some outstanding weather this weekend here in CO and I had one of my best ever weekends of jumping (not a perfect weekend, but an awesome weekend nonetheless). 0:11:1 No humps ... Eleven jumps including several awesome headdown freeflies with some bad ass talented freefliers as well as several belly jumps made with some newbies as I try and pay something back to the sport by giving them someone to jump with. A case of beer is owed (not paid for yet) for my first 270 front riser carving swoops. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
