I will die on July 25th, 2039 at the age of 75. - 30% chance of dying to cancer. - 24% chance of dying in an accident. - 7% chance of dying of a heart attack (I bet it's higher) - 6% chance of being abducted by aliens. - 5% chance of dying of alcoholism. And while we should question the person's ability to perform their emergency procedures, we shouldn't question their desire to use an AAD. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I ran the numbers again (trying to be a little more honest) and got 73 instead of 79. Hey if I continue running the numbers, sooner or later I may actually prove the thing wrong by getting a value less than my current age. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

This thread (let alone the debate as a whole) is really starting to haunt me. But it's clear that a vast majority of us would prefer to jump with a Cypres but feel that we're not dependent on it. For those who jump a pocket rocket that may set off the Cypres, I apologize for not including a category for you to vote on (so it's hard to know how many of the five fit this case and how many just feel that a Cypres is not good for them). But otherwise, the results are pretty much as I expected. So how long must this debate go on? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I got 79, but it didn't factor risks such as skydiving into it. Oh I have a 97 year old grandfather who's still alive (but the other three grandparents have passed on). Damn will I have $$$ to live until 79? Before I was a skydiver that answer would have been yes, but I doubt that I will have the $$$. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Who cares ... I'd rather be skydiving!!! Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Skydive Arizona Dropzone.com 2nd Annual Holiday Boogie

Last year a few of us stayed at this Motel and having a nice shower (plus breakfast) in the morning sure was awesome. And they have a shuttle, but don't expect to catch a ride back to the motel late at night. Of course I didn't need to worry about the shuttle as I actually drove from CO to AZ and had my Wraggler with me. But there were numerous times when I should not have been behind the wheel, yet there I was. So this year, I'll be staying in a team room at the DZ. This means no free breakfast and cold showers. But at least I won't have to worry about driving drunk. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -

I think he's looking for the sympathy vote when he knows that I'm more gastly than he is. By the way dude ... I love my new Crossfire2 ... but I know I need to be careful with it. Sorry I missed you in Rantoul Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Well I haven't given it to you yet. Probably not for a few reasons. First off, I wasn't aware of any special jumps and wasn't invited. Secondly I doubt I could get time off of work. And lastly, I have an early volleyball game at the Island tomorrow night. Oh not to worry. I'll likely be changing mine sometime soon anyway. I just thought it was funny that you were quoting Leonardo and no I didn't think you were steeling from me. The quote probably just effected you as it did myself. Bye for now ... Hi Mel Nice post, especially seeing as it's your first (umm ... beer) post here on "dropzone.com". But I'm not so sure about that signature of yours (you didn't quite get it right). See you soon and I'll have a special VHS tape waiting for you. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Swooping is not a safe activity. Those of us in the process of learning this ever so fun yet dangerous activity must take it one step at a time and try to remember that the bad ass guys and gals we are trying to emulate have thousands of jumps. But regardless of skill and experience, it is a dangerous activity and one really needs to come to grips with the risks involved. Tommy is not the only experience canopy pilot to have messed up this year and it needs to serve as a reminder to all of us, that everyone is capable of messing up. Purposely screwed up landings..?
CanuckInUSA replied to SkydiveNFlorida's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Is it just me or do other people agree. I don't like the title of this thread. I don't consider crosswind (and even downwind) screwed up landings. They are just another direction to land and a competent canopy should be able to land in any direction. As far as Angela is concerned, if you want to learn how to land crosswind, do one of three things: 1) Go do a hop n' pop and land crosswind and yes start off with light winds. The beauty of hop n' pops is that you have the airspace all to yourself. 2) Do a high altitude hop n' pop. This is similar to a hop n' pop except that you get more time to play with your canopy. This last weekend I was breaking in my new Crossfire2 canopy and I did ten high altitude hop n' pops and I really enjoyed chasing down the tandems and AFF students. The tandems knew I was there, but the AFFs were clueless (but I didn't try docking on either as I knew that might get me into trouble). 3) Announce to the load ahead of time that you're going to do a crosswind or a downwind landing if so inclined and land off away from everyone else. Crosswind landings aren't all that big of a deal. Just start with low winds and work your way up. Good luck and keep us posted. By the way, when is you canopy control course with Scott Miller? I've yet to set foot in Arizona during the heat of the summer and I hate to say it, but I'm scared of your heat. I don't know what's worse, a hot Arizona summer or a cold Canadian winter. That's why I like Colorado. We really have some awesome weather here. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

You are right. I should have included a category for those who can't jump a Cypres because their main canopy might dive too fast (I know Hooknswoop with his VX 60 falls into that category). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
-
I really would like to know who out there absolutely won't jump without a Cypres and who thinks that the Cypres is for weenies. Come on now, I know the second group is out there. You've been slaming Cypres users throughout this entire debate. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I haven't read every post, but I honestly don't see any radical militants who are saying we must jump with an AAD. Who are they? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
