  1. Both girls are hotties (though a tad too young for this slug). You're the one on the right, right? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  2. First off there I personally feel that there are too many Cypres threads already circulating, so what's the harm in adding another. I am pro-cypres but have made a couple of jumps without mine turned on. Now I suspect that the top two choices will bring out the most votes, but I'm curious to see how the bottom two options fair. Please vote honestly ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  3. It's currently considered my home DZ. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  4. I have made two jumps without my Cypres. The first time, I had a friend turn it off while at altitude because just before jump run I remembered that I had jumped it earlier in the day at a DZ 1400 feet higher than my home DZ (which would means that the Cypres could have fired during my canopy's snivel if I had pulled at my usual 3000 feet). And then a few weeks ago as I was getting on the first load of the day, I remembered that I had forgot to turn it on. And since my Cypres isn't all that accessible without loosening my hardness and I didn't want to hold up the load, I just kept my mouth shut and proceeded with my jump. So I am not one of those people who absolutely has to have a Cypres turned on in order to jump. But I just don't understand some of the people in this debate. It seems that they just like to claim that they are better skydivers because they don't need a cypres. By the way, I like what Trent wrote in this thread. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?do=post_view_flat;post=658631;page=3;sb=post_latest_reply;so=ASC;mh=25; Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  5. Still waiting for my first reserve ride. But I know I'm much more likely to get one now that I just started to fly my first (yes I bought beer) elliptical canopy. But to tell you the truth, I'm in no rush to have one. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  6. I don't get it folks? Maybe I'm just dense ... I guess we need to make this sport more dangerous because obviously many of you out there think that jumping with a cypres is wrong. Let's have some more people bounce and then claim that hey "they obviously shouldn't have been skydiving in the first place". It sounds like only cool people who truly solo should be allowed to skydive and the rest of us (who time and time again have saved out own asses by activating our mains or reserves) shouldn't be skydiving because we have this modern gadget (very similar to an airbag) installed in our rigs. 7. It's not as bad as you think. Sure my old Sabre2 170 would often dive on me, but I was able to control it by steering my rear risers and hardly ever had line twists let alone a malfunction (I'm still waiting for my first reserve ride). My diving problems were likely a result of my packing (I'm not the neatest packer) and body positioning. Also, in ten jumps this weekend on my brand spanking new Crossfire2 (which I absolutely love), I only had one opening (my last one of the weekend) which would be considered opening on heading. So there's a good chance that I need to try and correct my packing and body positioning and that bad habits might have been carried over from the Sabre2 to the Crossfire2. 8. Jennifer Affleck and Ben Lopez? Who are they? I was too busy skydiving this weekend to follow crap ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  9. Congrats on your accomplishment Mary. Let the fun and the learning begin. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  10. Not knowing Tommy, it's easy to not be effected by his passing. But one thing I have learned in the last few months, is that the skydiving community is not all that big and the longer we stay in it and the more we travel, the more friends we meet. So when something bad does happen, it has a way of effecting many many many people. B.S.B.D. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  11. Green And so much for not doing front riser carving swoops for the first month or so. There I was swooping that puppy to the best of my ability after jump number four on the canopy. But I did NOT hook it. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  12. Dude my Crossfire2 rocks!!! I'm so happy with it. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  13. 0:11:1 No humps ... Eleven jumps including ten made on my brand spanking new Crossfire2 139 which I absolutely loved. Oh of my ten jumps made on my Crossfire2, I stood them all up (some of which were some nice swoops) and I didn't pull below 6k all weekend but instead choosing to dog fight with friends and/or hunt down Tandems or AFF Students under canopy. Beer owed and paid for jumping my first fully elliptical canopy. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  14. Happy Birthday Chuck and we'll see you in Eloy come December. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  15. PM me your snail mail address and I'll ship you a VHS copy of my movie for free sometime early next week. But only under one condition. Assuming you like it, you have to play it at your DZ when you guys get weathered out. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  16. There's a decent chance I can make another 99 jumps between now and Eloy to give me 500 (a major pie offense). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  17. Thanks for the compliment. And while I did supply more camera footage than anyone else in my movie, I did get a lot of principal footage from five other friends and some addition sporadic footage from another half dozen people. So it didn't all come from my camera and I wasn't on all of the jumps. And besides, who would want to watch my movie if it had nothing but me. 18. I grew up in Montreal Quebec and thankfully left that mixed up place at age 26 for Calgary Alberta (it's a great place to visit, but as an English person living in a French province it got to be too much for me). In Calgary I purchased a nice house and ironically told someone in early '97 that I would never leave. But less than a year later, there I was in Denver, CO. Where do I go from here? God only knows ... but unless someone who's okay with skydivers wants to marry me, eventually INS is going to kick my ass out of the USA. I could easily go back to Canada, but the skydiving isn't as good there. So who knows, maybe I could sell my house and move to a DZ in FL, AZ or CA as an illegal alien. If the Mexicans can live in the states illegally, why can't I? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  19. I was not blessed with a full head of hair and while it would be really cool to fix this, in time I have come accept it (even though I know most women don't like bald men). I like women with proportial breasts for their bodies, but it's your personality that counts. And if you can enhance your personality by enhancing your skydiving career via a new rig, then my vote would go (which it did) towards a new rig. 20. Welcome to "dropzone.com". We may be dysfunctional, but we are a family. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  21. I hope I don't sound too cold, but such is life. As Besty wrote at the very beginning of a post she made the other day "We are born to die". Now I think it's safe to say that most of us are at least trying to live our lives to their fullest, or at least better than the money hungry workaholics of the world. So even though they likely never skydived ... Blue Skies and Black Death goes out to John and Johnny. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  22. The world is full of people judging and criticizing others just because they don't fit into their ideal of how and what they think people should do. I'm not gay, but look how society shuns the gay or transgendered communities only because they are different from the rest of us (and religious people are some of the worst at doing this). I personally would love to see less people judging others and just accepting them for who they are. But we don't live in a perfect world (and never will). So back to the topic at hand, I really don't understand why all of a sudden there is this massive debate on the merits of using a Cypres. A woman is alive today because she jumps with one. Yet she's being criticized by some because she exited the airplane wrong, konked here head on the elevator, got knocked out and was saved by a $1000 device. Come on people, stop judging each other and try accepting people for who they are. This shouldn't be such a big deal as long as the person isn't harming anyone else. Good stuff ... but you know we only let people jump with us if their D# is less than 26400. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  24. Damn ... is it possible to swoop in FS2004? I would imagine that's not easy even if you could as the visual references just aren't the same between these simulators and real life (I have FS2002 but haven't bothered to worry about upgrading as that would likely require yet another hardware upgrade which would take away from my real world skydiving expendable income).
