nice pics!!! Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Let me know if I need to bring my rope and/or rack. Otherwise I will leave it all at home and just bring the essentials. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Well if this is something better, then congrats. Otherwise I'm sorry. > Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I woke up and then fell back to sleep? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

I saw it today and it didn't really do much for me. It's all special effects and 1/2 hour long fight scenes. Some of the people I work with and who saw it with me loved it. But they're computer geeks who live their lives through computers and sci-fi movies. So who are you going to trust? Me or them? How about yourselves? Go see it and make your own opinions maybe? Who said my swoop distance improved because I downsized? I sure didn't say that. My swoop distance improved because I changed my approach. Plus who said that I insisted on swooping on every landing? I've aborted my share of swoops. But I do agree with much of what you say about learning to max out your canopy before downsizing. I may have been guilty of downsizing previous canopies without maxing them out. But I don't plan on doing that with my current canopy. I'm going to be playing with my canopy for a long while (heck I really like my canopy, so why would I want to change it?). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

What do you tell people that say Skydiving isnt a sport?

Dude skydiving isn't a sport, it's a life style!!! Dang ... Shark beat me to it. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
Hey did you run away Saturday night? I remember the fun jump you, myself and Jib did and then I recalled seeing you go jump with someone else while Jib, Denise, Greg and myself jumped. But that's about the last I remembered of you (of course I was drunk Saturday night and likely a good thing that I wasn't safe). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

LOL ... I can totally picture Drew (and the various tones in his voice he'd use) saying this to someone (with a beer in his hand) at the end of the day. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Probably not. I do know that since I've started doing 270s, my landings have gotten better and I grew up a step on the road to becoming a better canopy pilot. Talk to most swoopers and they'll tell you that 270s are better than 180s and I was stuck doing 180s for the longest time on my previous canopy and the early jumps on the new canopy. In this scenario, I do like what Zennster said. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Two of my four landings last weekend in Sebastian were aborted swoops because I felt I would be cutting someone off if I did a 270 and then my other two landings were 270s because traffic wasn't an issue. But it still seems like we're being painted as evil irresponsible people in this thread. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

[replyOne reason I think that a separate landing area for 90+ turn swoopers is a good idea. What about when a seperate landing area is not an option? I still feel that swoopers need to know when to proceed and when to abort their swoop. But we're not being painted in a very good light in this thread (maybe I'm just being a little too defensive). Having seperate landing areas is a luxury most DZs won't have. Swoopers (am I one by the way) need to know when it's okay to do that 270 (or whatever they do to gain speed) and when to abort their approach. It all depends on the air traffic conditions. At the same time we need to educate people not to perform long large s-turns while on final. The bottom line is that we all have to keep our eyes open. Swoopers need to be sensitive to the less aggresive canopy pilots so as not to cut them off. But it would also help if the less aggressive canopy pilots recognize when and how a swooper is setting up their 270 (or 90) hook turn. One of the reasons why swoopers swoop the beer line (or any line) isn't just because we are trying to show off (sure we are trying to look good). But I like swooping a line because it really helps me with my accuracy. I believe I will become a much better canopy pilot if I can consistently swoop a line as opposed to swooping in an open field with nothing to use as a reference. "Skymama and SkydiverBrian.jpg" is from the semi 6-way freefly zoo dive we did (Skymama, SkydiverBrian, Eener, Aviatarr, Katiebear and myself). I believe the guy off in the distance is Aviatarr. "Eener and Skymama.jpg" is from the same jump. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Greg and Sunndee123 #1 and #2 shows our very own Sunnydee123 jumping with her better half Greg. "Sunnydee123 and CanuckInUSA.jpg" shows Denise and myself from the same jump. "Jib.jpg" shows our own Jib, which ironically was also from the same 4-way freefly with Greg, Denise, Jib and myself. What's interesting about two of these pics ("Greg and Sunnydee123 #2" and "Sunnydee123 and CanuckInUSA") is that they were shot at virtually the same instant (from Greg's and my camcorders). But Greg uses a smaller wide angle lense (0.3) as opposed to mine (a 0.45) so I look a lot further away from the action than Greg does from my pic. Just an observation. Jimbo under canopy #1 through #3 shows our very own Jimbo flying his canopy during the sunset cross country load. Sunndydee123 under canopy is also from the same jump. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Well I captured some still images from my video camcorder last night of some of our jumps during this last weekend's Bytch boogie. Enjoy ... "Skydive Sebastian.jpg" shows the main hanger and packing hanger. "Sebastian Cross-Country #1.jpg" and "Sebastian Cross-Country #2.jpg" were taken from about 11k or 12k while under canopy during our cross-country sunset load jump. "Sebastian from the air.jpg" shows the airport and surrounding area. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Health insurance question for travelling Canadian skydivers
CanuckInUSA replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in The Bonfire
It's not going to happen over night (at least I don't think it will), but my company is likely on it's last chance with the investors and I need to mentally prepare myself for a possible layoff. And with the lousy job market right now in CO, I might have to move back to the great white north. But I wouldn't leave Colorado without at least trying to find something new. Health insurance question for travelling Canadian skydivers
CanuckInUSA replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in The Bonfire
In the event that I may need to change my screen name from "CanuckInUSA" to "CanuckWhoUsedToBeInUSA", I have a health insurance question for my fellow Canadian skydiving brothers and sisters who have travelled to a US drop zone. When you travel to a US based DZ to jump, does your province cover your out of province medical care or do you need to add supplimental travelers health insurance and is there an issue with being a skydiver? Try not to worry about the things you have no control over -
Yah and now that Jib has this new suit, he falls slow. Dude I'm still in shock that you didn't fall faster on those jumps we did this last weekend. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

Maybe you could get the Icarus people to do something to help the rib colors, but it's hardly noticeable from the limited videos I have of myself landing my new canopy. But I love the performance of my Crossfire2 and really don't care about the ribs anymore. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
