  1. Having never jumped a Pilot I can not offer advise on the canopy. I have been told good things and not so good things about it (nothing bad, please I am not slaming the Pilot). But there are many good canopy types out there and many of them will be better than your Triathlon. I am a former Triathlon jumper myself as the first canopy I owned was a Triathlon 220 and it wasn't a bad canopy, but my next canopy a Sabre2 190 was a million times better than the Triathlon. A wingloading of 1.4:1 is NOT conservative. But it's not ultra aggresive either. However, it is advised not to skip a step in the downsizing scheme of things. Never say never when you say "it will be my last downsize". When I was jumping a 190 I thought I would never go smaller than a 150 and ... LOL .... now I jump an 87. But just don't skip a step in the downsizing scheme. Chances are that you can fly the 169 now, but you will be a better canopy pilot in the long run if you spend time on the 189 before going to the 169. PS: The sooner you become a student of canopy flight the better you will be. Dedicate jumps towards canopy control, seek coaching, read books like "The Parachute and it's Pilot" and play with your canopy up high and when possible play with your canopy up high with others. Finally, no matter how good we may think we are, none of us are immune from making mistakes up there. Know that the ground will always be tougher than anyone of us. 2. I kind of wish they would NOT have shown or named the span in NorCal. The whuffo's don't need to know some of this stuff. But overall it was a good show to watch. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  3. For a second I thought this was some religious thread destined for the SC. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

  5. Yesterdays Colts/Pats game lived up to all the pre-game hype. It was a very entertaining game to watch with a great finish (and I'm not even a fan of either team). I am sure we will see these two teams play again before the playoffs are over and this time, Indy is going to have to win on the road and could be subjected to Mother Nature. Prediction: New England beats Indy for the AFC crown Green Bay beats Dallas for the NFC crown New England beats Green Bay for all the marbles Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  6. LOL I stand corrected. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  7. The "Bonfire" is like a high school popularity contest and the "Speakers Corner" is where a bunch of politically opinionated people hang out arguing with each other and the only thing they can agree on, is to disagree with each other. Now if you will excuse me, I think I need to go disagree with someone. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

  11. Too funny. What I don't understand is why these people do the things that they do when they should damn well know that when you are in the public eye, every move you make will be scrutinized. If these guys are gay, they are gay. It's no biggie. But they should know better to control their behavior while they live these high profile public lives. LOL, want to know why I don't have any desire to run for public office (actually there are many reasons). Because word would get out ... "If your friends jumped off of a bridge, would you?" 12. Well I guess they could flush us out by having hockey games broadcast randomly on public screens. Damn, I don't know what we can do about that. Well the USA better not deploy any troops from MN or MA since they too will likely stop to watch the televised hockey games and could then be confused for being one of us 'nucks. 13. Why is America always so gun-ho towards invading countries and starting wars? Maybe that is the premise behind this bumper sticker? What did Grenada ever do to America? What did Iraq ever do to America? What did [insert the next country here] ever do to America? It may not happen in my life time, but sooner or later I expect the American military to be in Canada to take over our natural resources (our oil) and our water. 14. I'm not arguing that gun violent in Canada is on the same level of frequency as gun violent in the USA. I'm just pointing out that gun violence in Canada is NOT as rare as you state that it is. There was (yes it looks like it was gang related) yet another shooting yesterday as reported here in Vancouver to go along with the recent six murdered in Surrey and another deadly incident reported here in Vancouver not long ago. The same thing is happening in Calgary, Edmonton, of course Toronto and Montreal and an RCMP police officer was fatally shot up in the NWT just a few short weeks ago as well. I could go on sighting even more recent shootings, but hopefully that is not needed. We know shootings occur in the USA more than up here in Canuckville. But they do occur here at a higher frequency that the statement of "In Canada shootings are so rare". Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  15. Hey Travis I'm with you here. When tragedy strikes others (like the Snohomish crew) or Tonto's death, I think of Josh as well. Heck I occansionally think of Josh even when other tragedies don't occur. I know Josh was friends to many people and he was especially close to the old Brush crew. I will never forget the party he had at his house the summer of 2005 in Loveland where people were running around shooting each other with their pea guns (or whatever it was they were using). Good times ... good times. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over

  17. Global warming is real and without a doubt we humans have in the past and continue to polute the planet. But global warming is NOT(at least not yet) on the apocalyptic level that the Al Gores of this world say it is. But we do need to change our ways. We humans of the last century have been rather selfish with our behavior towards this planet. Then again, global warming is irrelevant to the religious zealots who embrace the end of the world as a good thing. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  18. I think it is about time people stand up to the wasteful spending of governments (federal, state/provincial, and municipal) and start demanding fiscal accountability for a change. I would love to find a government that actually spent the same amount of money that it collected, that didn't over tax us, that delivered services that help the common person and didn't cater to special interests groups (whether they be social welfare groups or greedy corporations). But this type of political party does not seem to exist anywhere. They either cater to the ultra rich, or they promise the world and never deliver to the poor. 19. Pot is a mental addiction and it is much easier to break this addiction than the physical addiction of nicoteen. I speak from personal experience here. 12 months ago, I was smoking pot every day (many times a day). I have since removed myself from the temptation and ... LOL ... I could actually pass a drug test if I needed to. It wasn't that hard to do, just remove yourself from the tempation. Casual pot usage is not to be feared. But everyday usage is not health to the body or the mind. But pot is not better/worse than alcohol and at least smoking pot and drinking alcohol gives you something in return. Smoking cigarettes is a complete waste of time. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  20. You guys are missing the point in all of this. You've allowed yourselves to be fooled by your governments about the dangers of this or that nation when in reality your own governments are a huge part of the problem the world now faces. The Soviet Union was only trying to keep up with the military spending your government was/is doing. They were/are not the treat that your government continues to paint them out to be. The common Russian is a decent person, just as the common American is a decent person (LOL guess what? the common Iranian is also a decent person). It is the people controlling these governments that are a threat. The Democrates are fools to be promising all this spending to poor Americans because we know they can't deliver. But some of you are blindly following your beloved war time Republican president who has put your nation so deep in debt. You guys are in dire need of a third option. But none exists. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  21. Dude why the #### did your beloved war time president invade Iraq? We were told it was about WMD, but we know that was a lie. Then we were told, it was because of terrorism, but Iraq and 9/11 had nothing to do with each other. Another lie. Then we were told you invaded Iraq because you wanted to spread democracy. But the funny thing is, American is not a democracy. It is a republic with your beloved war time president having all the powers to kill and destroy at his disposal. So why did you invade Iraq? Who's next? Iran? Who comes after Iran? But to get back on topic, I think both Republican and Democrates as options for the common American voter stinks. Neither party cares about what is best for the average American. You should spend tiime outside of America to see what a negative image your leadership has created for your country. Fox News is not a good source for you to be judging the damage you leadership is doing to your country. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  22. It's amazing that you laugh at the debt your beloved war president has put your nation into. Have you paid any attention to the economic status of your nation is in lately? The poor get poorer and the rich get richer, but the number of rich are shinking very very fast. Hell my monopoly money you people were so quick to make fun of 2-3 years ago is worth more than you greenback now. The Republicans spend more money than the Democrates. The only difference is that the Replubicans put the money into their imperialistic military industrial complex while the Democrates promise to spend it socially (and yes we know they can't keep all their promises). Quite frankly, I would say both of your political choices stink. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  23. It sure would be nice to see governments all over the world spend less and thus tax us all less. I am on your side when it comes to not wanting to be taxed to death. But as much as the Democrates are guilty of all their promises to the electorate (which we know they can't keep), your beloved Republicans continue to spend billions and billions (no Trillions) of dollars on war. The Republicans have put your nation into debt beyond comprehension and the only ones who win are their CEO buddies at Haliburton. The American public sure does not win anything with this out of control spending of your beloved war time president. You can deducte your first $2000 of your loses. But please you are preaching to the choir about losing money in the markets. If you were not prepared to lose 100% of your investment, then you should never have been in the markets to begin with. Plus one should never be emotional when it comes to investing in the markets. Before you even buy a security, you need to have established when you were going to exit it. If you're down 5-10% get out now, take your loss. A 5-10% loss is better than 100%. Then again, maybe you were shorting a stock in which case the sky is the limit as to how much you can lose. 25. We all know that a city like Houston, or Philly, Detroit, Washington etc, etc, etc all have issues where pretty much someone on a daily basis is being shot dead. But I think you are missing my point Michael. You are wrong to say in Vancouver only 2 people per year get shot. The numbers are higher ... more likely in the 50 person range. So on average in a large Canuckville city, one person a week is being shot dead. Now most of the people are gang bangers ... but these numbers are increasing. I wish I had an easy answer. But gun control where you take the guns out of the hands of the law obeying citizen is not going to solve the problems where criminal uses guns to commit their crimes. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
