  1. I guess it is a good thing skydiving is not an Olympic sport. Imagine what the IOC would do once the beer light comes on. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  2. I am sure in 20 years from now we will look at the odometer and it will likely read under 100 miles. It is amazing how much money some people will spend these days on items that sit still doing nothing. But hey if you got it, you might as well flaunt it. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  3. I am betting it's going to be a good year in F1. Button and Hamilton at McLaren Schumacher and Rosberg at Mercedes Vettel and Webber at Red Bull Massa and Alonso at Ferrari plus all the other teams ... yes Schumacher may wished he stayed in bed. But he's still more qualified to drive the car inspired by this thread than it's owner. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  4. Even the normal version of this car is bad ass. But this one is obviously customized to be extra bad ass. Too bad the owner of the car likely does not have the skill or experiences to drive this car remotely close to it's limits. Where is Michael Schumacher when you need him? Oh probably in Germany getting ready to drive a different Mercedes powered car in the 2010 Formula One season. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  5. The team trains next door in Alberta. There the drinking age is 18. I am only speculating but it is entirely possible that this 18 year old girl was not aware that the drinking age is 19 in BC. But it's not like they were getting drunk at the local watering hole. They were in their own domain, still in their uniforms on the ice celebrating. BTW IOC it is called being "on the ice" not being "on the playing field". I doubt you will see the local BC police pursuing anything here. This is after all Vancouver BC home of Hastings and Main where the real world "Dawn of the Dead" zombies roam the streets. This is just the IOC taking exception to a bunch of young women who were not acting enough "lady like" to their liking. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  6. The negative response to their celebration is a crock of shite. We would not even be talking about this story if some media whore from the AP did not whine to the IOC. This AP reporter and the IOC obviously have no idea what it's like to blow off a little steam after dedicate your life to a goal for several years and then seeing your dreams come true. PS: if the shoe was on the other foot and it was the American girls and not the Canadian girls doing the celebrating, I would be saying the same thing. Shite I tell you, nothing by AP + IOC shite. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  7. Final Score Canada 2 USA 0 Mission Accomplished The Canadian women have three-peated as Olympic Gold Medalists. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  8. After the 2nd period of play Canada 2 USA 0 looks like the difference so far in the game is Canada's goalie. The USA have had a few power plays where they have peppered the net with good shots, but the Canadian goalie has stood her ground. 20 minutes to go ... the fat lady has been seen in the building, she has not warmed up yet. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  9. After the 1st period of play. Canada 2 USA 0 Good start (plus Canada killed off a 5-3 US power play). but 20 minutes does not make a game. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  10. You are obviously much older than I am because since blood has been flowing through my body the US men have only won one gold medal. Besides what are you trying to do here? Have this thread sent to the Speaker Corners because you want to turn it into a sexism thread? There are some sports when one's gender is irrelevant (I can't for the life of me think of any rational reason why a female curling team count not beat a mens curling team) and there are some sports from a spectators point of view where I would prefer to watch the girls over the men (take women's tennis as an example. The mens game is all power with hardly any rallies while the women can get some great rallies going). But while the elite female Olympic hockey players are great athletes, the level of play they compete at is at the same level of boys midget AAA hockey. The women's gold medal game is starting now. I am going to watch it and hope the Canadian girls kick some USA ass. But enjoy the game, because it could be the last womens Olympic hockey game we see in a while. Unless the rest of the world can catch up to the Canadian and American girls, the IOC may remove the sport from the games citing lack of competition. PS: the rest of the world needs to spend some money, and ship their womens national teams to Canada during our winter months and get involved playing some of our boys midget AAA teams. 11. Bocce ball. Close. The drunk ones who are at high risk of having heart attacks curl ... try again. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  12. The Canadian girls are awesome. They are great athletes and we are very proud of their winning achievements. But Canada is a winter sports nation. I will give you one guess what sport most Canadian males concentrate on ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  13. I will respect your right to practice your religion just as long as you respect my right not to be indoctrinated into something I do not believe in. It pisses me off when atheists slam Christians and it equally pisses me off when Christians try to convert me. I tried it, it did not work for me. Please stop ... I have made up my mind. I am agnostic. I do not know if there is or isn't a god. But if we are alone in the Universe ... it is an awful waste of space. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  14. Curling was more fun to watch 20+ years ago when they were still using the old style "witch" brooms. Hurry ... Hurry ... Hurry Hard ... whack whack whack whack http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:Men_curling_-_1909_-_Ontario_Canada.jpg Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  15. I like watching the last few rocks in the last end of a close curling match. There really is a lot of strategy to this game. But, I would watch more of the match if I would only stop falling asleep during the early ends. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  16. Will history repeat itself. So far the partial answer is yes. The Canadian women play the US women tonight for the gold medal in womens hockey (no surprise here, there really are only two elite countries playing womens hockey). But will the Canadian women (three) repeat as Olympic gold medalists? Or will the USA win gold on Canadian soil just like Canada won in 2002 on US soil? Secondly, will the Canadian men and US Men win their respective semi-final games and meet again like they did in 2002 for the gold medal rematch? And if they do will Canada win again? Or will the US win on Canadian soil? We don't have to wait long for the women's games (less than 8 hours away) but we are about 36-40 hours from knowing the men's puzzle. But history has a way of repeating itself. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  17. More insanity coming from Canada's left. BTW ... replica firearms are already prohibited in Canada. But that never stopped the left from wanting to spend more money on laws that already exist. Also, more information continues to come out from this legal gun collector. He is still alive, but he's in hospital suffering from a stroke and all indications are that he will not be leaving the hospital ever as a healthy man. There is something really fishy going on. You can read more here. Unlike other media outlets, this is a reasonably balanced story. http://www.nationalpost.com/todays-paper/story.html?id=2609497#ixzz0gYVkTeCR "The biggest problem people with large collections face is the leaked disclosure of confidential information contained in the gun registry. The registry reads like a shopping list for anyone looking for weapon collections to steal and sell on the street." - Tony Bernardo, executive director of the Canadian Shooting Sports Association Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  18. Cool ... Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  19. I was partially wrong. Goaltending was key, but instead of "who would be the hot goalie", it was "who would not be the hot goalie". Of course it was a great game if you are a fan of Team Canada, they definitely came out wanting this one and they got the job done, plus it was the first time Canada beat Russia (or the Soviet Union) in the Olympics since 1960 ... 50 years if you can believe it. The 2nd Corey Perry goal in the 2nd period from Getzlaf and Staal was cherry. Great passing. I am not sure yet who they will play in the semi-finals, but I hope it's not the USA. If we play the USA again I hope it is in the finals (assuming both teams make it that far). Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  20. Makes perfect sense to me. How's that H1N1 epidemic treating you? I didn't get the shot, I did not get sick. But it sounds like some of the people who did get the shot are showing some interesting side effects. http://www.cbc.ca/canada/calgary/story/2010/02/23/calgary-h1n1-shot-reaction-disorder.html Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  21. Nice ... I see your jump numbers have increased a lot. I am sure you have improved greatly these last few seasons. In fact I am sure you guys have been ripping it up out there at Pitt Meadows and Abottsford. You may not be able to jump every weekend, but your chances of staying current are better than mine. But I have only myself to blame. It was cheaper for me to live in Alberta, so I moved. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  22. Nightingale for President in 2012!!! Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  23. Sorry Quade, I just feel left out as a Libertarian. I feel like a victim. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  24. I feel oppressed, I feel like a victim of the world for being left out of these comparisons. I know I am not a Liberal, but if being Conservatives means you have to be religious, then I am neither. Where is the "Libertarian" comparison? I call discrimination on Liberals and Conservatives. Oh who am I kidding. Carry on ... I could care less if someone is gay. Gay people should NOT be discriminated against. But it would be nice if gays would stop pushing their lifestyle as if it is the preferred way of life. I don't see a difference. Both groups are expecting the government to pay for their services. There is obviously a huge difference between Canadian Liberals and Liberals in the USA because I don't think gun ownership is in the Canadian Liberal's DNA. They are preprogrammed into thinking just looking at a gun will mean they will get shot and they want all guns banned. Yet Canadian Liberals are the first people to whine about a perceived "Police State". The most amusing part of their "Gun" and "Police State" fears are that they were the first people to disarmed themselves? Too funny ... When I want to learn something I pick up a book. If the book does not provide myself with enough information I pro-actively seek other forms of information which could mean sitting down and listening to what a more experience person has to say about the topic (ie: attending school). But if I am attending a school, I am there to learn the topic at hand. I am not there to be indoctrinated. I think it is wrong the way Liberals cut down someone else's religious beliefs (just look we have Liberals here today starting threads saying someone is brain damaged if they are religious) just as much as it is wrong for Conservatives to try and convert some else into their own religious doctrines. To me a woman should have the right to choose her own destiny, she should be the one who decides if she does or does not want to have a baby in her body regardless of religious beliefs. Just like Neville Chamberlain did in the late 1930s. It's a good thing Churchill was there to make up for Chamberlain's incompetence. That's not what happened in our last election up here in Canada. Liberal leader Stephane Dion was given numerous opportunities to correct his bungled responses to an easy question in a taped TV interview. When he failed to respond on at least three attempts the media decided to show the entire unedited interview and the Liberal faithful here had an ape shit. How dare the media let the world know that their beloved Liberal leader Stephan Dion was a bumbling idiot. After all Liberals are the Nature Governing party here and only they should ever be allowed to govern. It think I am going to barf now. If you guys got to see some of our Liberals up here you might understand why some of us oppose them. Barack Obama is a right wing corporate capitalist compared to the whiny nanny state do nothing but steal money from the tax payer Liberals we have here. Try not to worry about the things you have no control over
  25. She is definitely a strong woman during such a difficult time in her family's life. Like most games, it will come down to who's goalie is hot. The other night against the USA Ryan Miller was the hot goalie. But tonight is a new night. Go Canada ... PS: I will be watching the game on the "Olympic Broadcasting Service" accessible through the CTV website. I prefer this feed because there are no TV commentators, less commercials and it is almost like you are there at the game. Nothing but the sounds of the game play and the sounds of the crowd.
