Hey Jim....good to see you around again. Sangiro......and you're a Renaissance Man ! How dare you ? I guess my tastes run towards the macabre when poetry is concerned. All my poems have been light-hearted, but I always appreciate a talent that can write of the fragility of life, and make it seem close. All of Paterson's work is darkly profound, as well as one of my favorites, from Thomas Nashe, about the inescapability of death..... ADIEU, FAREWELL EARTH'S BLISS Adieu, farewell earth's bliss, This world uncertain is; Fond are life's lustful joys, Death proves them all but toys, None from his darts can fly: I am sick, I must die. Lord, have mercy on us! Rich men, trust not in wealth, Gold cannot buy you health; Physic himself must fade; All things to end are made; The plague full swift goes by: I am sick, I must die. Lord, have mercy on us! Beauty is but a flower Which wrinkles will devour; Brightness falls from the air, Queens have died young and fair, Dust hath clos'd Helen's eye: I am sick, I must die. Lord, have mercy on us! Strength stoops unto the grave, Worms feed on Hector brave, Swords may not fight with fate, Earth still holds ope her gate; Come, come, the bells do cry. I am sick, I must die. Lord, have mercy on us! Wit with his wantonness Tasteth death's bitterness: Hell's executioner Hath no ears for to hear What vain art can reply: I am sick, I must die. Lord, have mercy on us! Haste, therefore, each degree To welcome destiny: Heaven is our heritage, Earth but a player's stage: Mount we unto the sky. I am sick, I must die. Lord, have mercy on us! Great idea for a post, Mr. G. Don

I'd like to thing that as I've aged, I've grown as a person....so I don't think I would have flipped. Instead, i think I would have calmly and rationally discussed it with him, nodded understandably, then casually pulled out my .45 and agreeably shot him in the head. (okay.....maybe not calmly......) Or heading west on I-40.....Asheville's only about an hour from the state line. Might be a DZ or two in eastern Tennessee. Don

Nothing on my new suit, but had a couple of Alti-II patches on my old one. When I got my first rig last year, I immediately had a "Block M" patch sewn to the reserve flap, and the Univ. of Michigan seal sewn to the pin cover. When I showed up at the DZ to pick it up, my rigger asked me why I had wanted him to sew a big yellow W on my container. "Does it stand for Wolverine?" he asked innocently. Seconds before going into cardiac arrest, I looked around and saw everyone grinning...... Don

Congrats on the A, dude....it's been a long time coming ! And sorry, but you owe even more beer for that "700-foot float"...... You must be good....I know guys with thousands of jumps who can't do that..... Don
-
Sigh. And I always had such respect for you before. Don

Great story, Sebazz.....funny as hell, and very well written also. I've met and jumped with 8 or 9 fellow DZ.commers, and it's always been a blast. Great group of folks on these forums --hopefully will be adding a few more to my list next month. Piece of what ? (My God, what a glory-hound.....) Don

Remind me again......about how you know what cat shit tastes like.... Don

Amen to all that, Kris. I don't use a timer, but I always let it idle for a few minutes before cutting. My '86 951 now has almost 250K on the odometer, but still runs like a champ. Don

Well, that's definitely the "Most Titanium Screws Per Square Inch" that I've had the priviledge of seeing.....OUCH ! (where's the little icon for "totally f***ed-up on pain meds" ? oh, here it is...) Hope everything heals well. Don

I wish y'all would delay your trip by 10-12 days..... Tell ya what.....I'll buy you both 1 beer apiece if you wait two weeks.....is that a great deal, or what ? Have fun....don't break the plane... Don

It can't be official until at least one person comes forth to either: A) vouch for your lack of character, or B) verify that you have no morals, and have pretty much slept with anyone who asked. (and for the sake of fairness....you can't be confirmed by men, or farm animals.

You're already PostWhore #3.....what more could you want ? Don

Yeah. And since those attractive but vacuous ladies aren't available, I thought I'd just harass you instead....you attractive, vacuous thing, you....
-
Yeah....like you're a nice enough person to appreciate all he does for you. (I think it's time for another of your "I'm Feeling Aggressive" rants...) To The Moderators : This is not a personal attack on Jess, because that would imply that she is actually a person, or possesses feelings of same. Don

Claim a bad spot, and try to get the pilot to do a go-around , so it'll put you on the ground a little after 9 pm. If you're landing at 8:55, most of us won't get to see it, unless they tape it and air it during the telecast. Good luck....and a belated Happy Birthday to you. And if you're building underwater structures, you won't even need a rig !

Yep, those were the days....when men were men, and sheep were sheep, and whores could only be found on street corners. And then Clay showed up and changed the history of DZ.com forever. Don

PLFKING replied to AggieDave's topic in The Bonfire
Congrats, Dave....nice colors. (but I did figure you'd go maroon). My first custom canopy will definitely be maize and blue. Don
