My Rant About Boogie Regestration Fees....
kansasskydiver replied to Unstable's topic in The Bonfire
They are usually dontated by the beer provider. Generally doesn't cost anything to bring in a beer truck. Couch Freaks has a beer truck, but it includes root beer and they have had the truck for awhile now. The ferry cost for planes are pretty high, for us to get a king air at our boogie, we were looking at $1400 just in ferry costs. I see where you are coming from though unstable, some of the boogies I've been to this year actually had discounted reg fees if you weren't going to be there to whole time (i.e. dinner, beer etc etc) -
Why skydivers are great! (the story of the lost ring)
kansasskydiver replied to AggieDave's topic in The Bonfire
I found a mans wedding ring walking home from the bars last week. It was just on the sidewalk and I nearly stepped on it. Doesn't have a name or anything on it though, wish I could return it as I'm sure the dude is in major trouble, especially seeing as it was found in the bar district... -
My family owns a large cosmetic company in Brazil and we will be introducing our first product line directed towards the more concious males. It's not saying anything about your, other than you care to look good is all.

I've taken up a couple people on rodeos. The first attempt was talked over a bunch as we had no idea how it was going to go. I trusted the guy and honestly jump numbers didn't mean a huge thing to me, and probably still don't as long as I know the person and have personally jumped with and know they've got their heads on straight. I can't say really a jump # that I would limit myself at, just know that there are some people that I wouldn't be willing to take up regardless of their jump numbers

Yes and Yes, but let me explain. I only benefit from it because it helped put food on my table and bring me to where I am today. I haven't received a penny of anything yet nor do I expect to. Instead of giving the money away this family member uses it for things that will continue one past even his lifetime and to hopefully someday my children's children. So finacially have I benefited from it, I'm sure in some ways I haven't had it as rough as others, but I am in no way shape or form a spoiled brat.

Funny Hypothetical Skydive Situation – What Would You Do?
kansasskydiver replied to bvsdjumper's topic in The Bonfire
Kinda off subject, but we've always thought it would be funny to put up a jumper that one of our pilots hadn't met and let him know he/she was just going on an observer ride. Then at 10k when we jump out, the observer just kinda falls out lol -

Need some new ideas of places to add to my "Must go to" list. Some friends and I were discussing a trip to Europe this summer maybe and bouncing around, but I realized that the Olympics are this summer and airfare isn't cheap no mo'. Where have you been that was just absolutely amazing? Where would you go? Doesn't have to be Europe, can be anywhere. Here's where I've been and my experiences: Europe: London, Scottland, Germany Mexico: Cities and surrounding/Pyrimids Brazil: Amazon, Sao Paulo, beaches etc Where to? I'd SOOOOOOO love to go to Australia but $$$ Oh and if anyone knows of any good deals to ANYWHERE that would be just the hot shit to go to, please provide a link

Something struck by lightning, got shocked wtf

Finding more and more things broken now, the biggest being the frig AHHHHHHH How do I keep my beer cold now!!!!!! It sounds like the compressor keep trying to turn on but won't. the power never shut off last night so I'm kinda confused. What exactly is a micro-burst? My smoke detectors are NOT connected to the electricity in any way shape or form, I checked, and the one downstairs didn't go off. My phone still works fine though. Geez what else am I going to find broken, this sucks! No firewire card means I can't transfer stuff to and from my computer. No sound card = no music. No frig = NO BEER!!!!!!!!!!! OH no what a world what a world!!!!!! -

Last night around 3am or so a pretty bad storm moved through the area. I was talking on my cell phone upstairs in my room (Atic converted into room) and had my phone plugged into the charger. The lightning and thunder and rain all picked up and then all of a sudden this big flash of light, thunder, scream, shock and fire alarms! I'm not sure if the house was hit or something nearby, but it freaking HURT!!! I can't figure out though why it set off my smoke alarm in my room. The power in the house didn't go out though I'm starting to notice things already aren't working (sound card, firewire card, toaster) but why the fire alarm and why the heck did I get shocked? My guess is static electricty? Don't they say that cell phones can create a charge and ignite at gas stations? Just freaking weird -
One time use rigs then
