  2. Didn't mean to turn it into tunnel vs. air debate... I was just commenting that it's not necessarily throwing your $$ away. It is expensive to get to a point where you're doing head down carves in the tunnel, I can only hope to be there at some point down the line. I will definitely agree that it's much easier to sit in the air, but if you have the means, or opportunity to, then it may be worth checking out. OH... and I don't recognize you from your avatar/user name...who were you in that ride down? Yeah, that was tough, seeing everyone get to jump out, while I had to stay with my AFF student. I was lucky that I had my hand on his pop-top on the ride down (one of those crazy ESP moments). Sure enough, I felt/heard the pop. Oh well, like TK said, it just gave him the right excuse to replace the last of their student Cypres'. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  3. Hi, I'm curious as to how much time you may have flying in a wind tunnel? I don't quite follow the math/logic... Correct me if I'm wrong, but 15 jumps will cost you between $270 to $300, if you're jumping from $13,000. If you add 1 on 1 coaching to this you're looking at AT LEAST another $300 if you're just covering slots for a coach, if you're paying a coaching fee, you can add another $375 ($25/jump) to that. That brings the total to $915 assuming jumps are $18/slot... you can make it an even $1000 if you're paying to get your rig packed. 15 minutes in the wind tunnel will run you about $200, with 1 on 1 coaching, a steeper learning curve, a DVD of your time in the tunnel. If you want to train, and see exponential results in your freeflying, hit the wind tunnel... if you want to jump with your friends, and fly your canopy, make a skydive. Me? I'll do both! 4. We had our new packer go out and try to find a "Bucket of Prop Wash" . We even had him go over to the FBO to ask them if they could spare any. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  5. I'm holding out for L&B's new toy(s) before buying a Neptune. However, after I fractured T6 & T7 last 4th of July (luckily I was only out of jumping for 3 weekends), I strapped an additional altimeter to my right leg strap that I now use QUITE OFTEN to cross reference what my eyes are seeing to the altitude I'm at, through various stages of my set up. I recommend AT least that 2nd Altimeter/ Neptune bec we're only human. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  6. Hey! I should be there that weekend, as well as Lake Wales on the 4th of July weekend. There's always plenty of birds flocking at the Hillz, at least from what I've seen in the last month that I've been going there every weekend... The best part is that everyone that I've met so far is very inviting are all about putting together sweet dives; loads with 7 or more birds are quite common...so come over, it'll be a great time! Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

  8. Great Video... definitely some gnarly winds! I know it's a bit off topic, but it's killing me trying to remember where I've heard it before. What's the name of the song you used? For some reason I think I've heard it very recently...maybe a movie? For some reason, I'm thinkning the Bourne Supremacy? Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  9. Well, I wouldn't call it an obscene # of jumps, but my first cutaway came on my 1606th jump... If you want, you can go here and read about it.
  10. MMMM.... that's one of my fav. positions... great visuals! ...haven't tried it freefall though. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  11. Call me a control freak, but I'd like to be the one to decide precisely when that reserve is coming out of my container. I fly a camera set-up on 100% of my jumps... whether it's a top mounted video/stills or side mounted video. If I cut away and have an entanglement with my camera gear (even though I've taken great measures to reduce that possibility), I'd like to be able to clear it before dumping a reserve into a gnarly mess. I also fly highly loaded (2.1+ WL) Crossbraced canopies on 100% of my jumps and know the reality of finding yourself spinning on your back and having to cut-away on a wingsuit flight--(gotta keep that leg wing collapsed!). I had this scenario develop a few months back, and I'm glad I had the option of getting face to earth, after jetisonning my main before deploying the reserve. I was under a reserve by 2000 ft, even afer losing a ton of altitude to a spinning mal. I choose to fly these canopies, and jump with a camera set up, but you won't find me deploying any lower than 4000K on any wingsuit jump. This affords me much more time to resolve any issues than the split sencond an RSL would give me. Besides, like many of us, I enjoy canopy flight as much as any freefall, so opening high gives me more than one fringe benefit. 12. Hahahha .... Hmmm... well the rock I live under was obscuring the great news until today! LOL... I got to crawl out from under said rock this morning long enough to get to my computer. ...(crawling back in now... oh, wait, have you heard of these these parachutes that are said to have "crossbracing"?) Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

  14. The first 15 minutes were spectacular. It opens up with a less than spectuacular swoop that makes you cringe. Great editing, much less MTVish than the Out of the Blue DVD. Great coverage of sweet freestyle swoops! After the first 15 mins, it became a 35 minute commercial for the GLC. Don't get me wrong, the footage was very cool... gives you a VERY good idea of the benefits and great fun to be had with a 2+ minute swoops! They shot these runs with every possible camera angle...some more spectacular than others. I'll watch the 1st part of the DVD a few times, but unlike the SWOOP series put out by Pier Media , it's not a video that I'll watch over and over again, in it's entirety. Overall, it's a pretty good video, and definitely recommend seeing it. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Wow... that's one of the most captivating vids I've seen in a long time. Thanks for sharing it! Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  17. But if you want to get an extra couple feet and make it a 650 ft swoop, begin to relieve your bladder/bowels onto the passing ground at around the 200 ft mark. However, be sure not to use the grass/pond for wiping purposes to get those last dingleberries off, as the judges will mark this spot as your touch down point! ...not to mention those pesky sand spurs that are sticking out of the ground could HURT! 19. I have 1666 jumps and jump a Velo 90 loaded at 2.1+ and a Xaos-27 93 loaded at 2.0. My progression was 288 down to 220, Sabre 170 at 76 jumps, Stilletto 135 at 183 jumps, Xaos 21-108 at jump 590,m Xaos-27 93 at 972 jumps, and Velo 90 at 991 jumps. (Ducking for cover from all the flames probably headed my way). This progression was way too fast... the only thing that kept me from killing myself is a methodical and conservative approach to everything that I do in skydiving. I've sprained my ankle from catching bad air from anothe's canopy, and again 6 weeks later from a night jump where I landed off (I didn't see the ground, I smelled the grass!) on my Velo 90. I also fractured T6 and T7 last 4th of July.. I was VERY lucky on that one and only missed 3 weekends of skydiving (If you'd see the video, you'd see I was EXTREMELY lucky). I love the canopies I fly, but I also caution all that come to me wanting to land the way I do, that it's not as easy as it looks and that I've paid the price with both experience, and stupidity, and I'm very fortunate. We're all still learning... sometimes, the ground is as good, but not as gentle a teacher as experience. Cheers! --Jairo Edited to add: I only weighed 135 lbs when I went to Stilleto 135. After realizing the benefits of working out, I now weigh 168 lbs without gear. Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
  20. Hey Taryn... Small world, isn't it? It was great seeing you yesterday. I'm glad you've discovered what I was trying to tell you 5 years ago! Next time, you better be prepared to make a jump with me! . Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

  22. I have it on my 2nd Wings container that I ordered with all the "BirdMan" options... it's a rather great idea, and I like how it keeps the bridle in the center of the d-bag at all times. I think I saw Greg Gasson jumping these kind of d-bags for wing suit jumps out in Eloy a couple of years ago and remember thinking that it was a great idea. Unfortunately I haven't had a chance to put too many jumps on it while flying my Skyflyer, but the flights that I have done have had great openings. Kinda wishing I had that D-bag 2 weeks earlier since I had to cut away during a bad spinning/diving line twist incident during the Dublin Boogie.
