The Optima Rocks...if you have a chance, definitely check it out. If you're looking for the ultimate in log book functions, then check out the Alti-Track for as a visual altimeter, and coming very soon, the Viso by L&B. Cheers! I put about 400 jumps on a Xaos-21 108 before getting my Xaos-27 93 and Velocity 90. I've since (as of this post) put 150 jumps on the Xaos-27 (which I'm going to be selling soon!) and 850 jumps on the Velo. I jump a camera (sidemounted on a Rawa) or Cameras (top mounted on a Bat-Rack)on every single jump aside from Hop-n-pops where I'm concentrating on swooping. My Velocity is my preferred wing because of its opening AND swooping characteristics. It's more predictable under normal circumstances, and I've got it dialed in much better for swooping. Having said that, I jump my Xaos-27 for most of my wing-suit jumps, as it seems to handle higher speed openings much better, and won't go into as violent of a dive in line twists. My reccomendation? I'd say that if you can, jump the Velo, Xaos-21 and Xaos-27. I'd pick the Velo, but that's based on many characteristics and my personal preferences. I think all three canopies are great choices for flying camera and for swooping. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

So I'll either be getting a nice bottle of exotic Brazilian liquor, or we'll both be cursing your buyer? . Don't worry Ian, we'll be getting you over to Brazil. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Br0k3n is right...it's a Removable Deployement System. Here's another frame grab from the same deployment that shows the lanyard from the back of the slider which goes on to connects the D-bag & Pilot Chute (just outside of the frame) to the slider for complete removal. Yeah...all my Whuffo friends thought it was all part of the show, as there where planes circling around us also trailing smoke (Veteran's Day Demo into Vietnam Memorial). The other jumpers were just laughing at me cuz they thought they were gonna see a cut-away. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Nope...didn't chop it. It only had a few twists and was fairly manageable. I've had much worse twists during a demo jump! It made for great video as I deployed the highest and was wearing smoke. So on my video, you see the corkscrew trail of smoke as I'm passing the other jumpers. Got all the line twists out by 1600', and just enough altitude to land dead center on landing area.. That being said, I have chopped it due to line twists after a less than pretty deployment flying my Bird-Man Suit. Gotta plug the VISO though...because as you can see, it definitely let's you know precisely and clearly what altitude you're at while your body is seeing earth/sky/earth/sky. That's exactly how I'm wearing my Beta model of the VISO. The attached pics are using an older version of the wrist strap...the production version will be quite different. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Yeah, he'll be M.I.A. this weekend from skydiving. He mentioned having to work on a rental property he has in Savannah. It was a great jump...and it was nice to have 3 from the SDA crew hangin' out with us in Palatka. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

OK...as promised, here are a few stills from that jump. Sorry I didn't catch the base throwing an impromptu Head Down but I followed Tom out as the last diver. Enjoy the pics... Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

I did a rather extensive search on the forums last nite to get an idea of what other people are using to print their digital photos. The problem is that most posts are several years old and I'm wondering if there is any newer/better technology. I read of people raving about their Epson 2200 & 1280's but that was in 2003. I also read about dye-sub printers...but then we're running into print size limitations and I'd rather not have white borders on printed pictures. So, I'd like to see what the best compromise would be. I likely wont have to print bigger than 8 x 10's on the field, as I can send out for bigger prints if need be. At the same time, if there's an affordable (under $1000) inkjet that can come close to quality of dye-sub printers and can also print the bigger size prints (like 13 x 19's) let me know... Swooping altimeters - altitrack with canopy mode?
JGarcia replied to Mikko's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Have you actually tried using a digital display...or compared the 2 side by side (needle pointing to #'s vs. an LCD display)? Just curious... Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam! -
Are you using a wide angle lens with it? I used my HC3 with a Raynox .5 Wide Angle Lens next to my PC-100 with a Kenko .43. I'd like to get closer to the .43 on the HC3 but want to do it with a high quality lens for it, rather than strap on the Kenko .43 with a step up ring (30mm to 37mm). Anyone have any ideas? Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

The lathering up with KY and wrapping took a good 15 to 20 mins, then the drying before he started hacking away took about 40 to 45 mins sitting in the sun at around 6 pm. Those 45 mins in the darkness seemed like forever...I should've definitely brought along an iPod! I don't recommend this procedure if you're clausterphobic in any way . But as you can see, Wes has you wear a SCUBA Hood...so if he cuts a bit too deep, he's not slicing and dicing your noggin. Here are some more pics of the process. After over 1200 jumps with either a Bonehead Batrack or my Rawa, I finally made the decision to get the ultimate helmet. Wes makes some sweet helmets. Here are a few pics from my CCM Fitting a couple weeks ago... Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Nice work Spot! But now you have me wrestling with the question: Did I make the best choice with the HC3, or should I have gone with the A1U? Well, either way, it'll be a step up from my PC-100! Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
-
I'm very curious about what the result would be with a wide angle lens. I bought an HC3 last week after some loooong nights of research trying to decide between it and the A1U. I hope I didn't make a mistake in my choice. It basically came down to weight difference as I'll be mounting it on my new CCM (helmet made by Wes in DeLand, FL) along with a digital still and external flash. Since it'll be a few more weeks til my CCM is done, I'll be curious as to what other issues (if any), or resolution to the current one you may find. Thanks for the updates! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Actually, the VISO is both a visual altimeter AND it will tell you detailed speed information for every second of your skydive...that is from exit to landing! This is one of the features I love best, as I love seeing how FAST I can get my canopy to dive when I set up my 270 turn for swooping. It's also a valuable tool to see how long I've kept up my speed, before it starts slowing down. This allows me to work on my speed generating technique with different turn styles and such. I still have a smile on my face from the great time I had on Saturday! My muscles are still recovering from the tunnel mayhem. Thanks for organazing such a fun event...I think it was a great success and definitely a ton of fun. Angela and I named our newly adopted kittie Roxie. Isn't she a cutie?! Up until this year, I was almost $13,000 in credit card debt. A lot of it came from learning how to skydive and financing all my gear when I was a college student. I can't tell you how good it felt to pay it ALL OFF last month. . And when I did, one of my creditors increased my credit limit by $2000 without me even asking! I'm keeping all my cards open, for credit building purposes, but otherwise, my revolving debt will be rather neglible. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

From my last conversation with Mads, it seems like we're very close to shipping. However, I never asked him what exact date that they will begin shipping. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

They just got done tweaking some of the software on the VISO's. The changes from the previous unit is that it now turns off after 14 hours of non skydiving use, and the display is clearer, without any flicker. It'll be worth the wait! I did 6 jumps on the one I'm test jumping for L&B this past weekend and it performed flawlessly. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Wow. I just got done reading this thread and was absolutely dumfounded by the arrogance and negative attitude. Read the thread title, neither the original poster, nor DSE were asking what your opinion was on learning how to freefly. All they were asking for was if watching the DVD served as a tool in their quest to learn how to freefly and become better flyers overall. The answer to their question is a resounding YES! Watch the DVDs, they're are exceptionally well made and very detailed, with examples from computer generated animations, wind tunnel flying, and actual skydives. Will it replace going up in the sky or wind tunnel with good coaches? Of course not, we all know that. There's no need to be condescending in your attitude and get your 500-jump-wonder undies in a wad. As someone with "more experience" you should be a better ambassador to your sport. You won't see any proficient flyer have the attitude you've displayed throughout this post. Ben & Spot, let me know if you have a hard time getting this DVD. I live 20 mins from SkyVenture Orlando and will be flying there next Thursday and Saturday...I will gladly pick up a couple of the DVDs if youd like. PM me for more details. Cheers! Jairo PS...you can PM me for where to mail my 1900-jump wonder T-Shirt. Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
