Hi! I have a team room reserved with 2 others, but it will still fit one or two more people. Let me know if you (or any one else) would be interested. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Damn, you hit the nail on the head...Gina Gershon totally does it for me. However, Jaime Pressley has a slight edge with her short hair. I girls with short hair. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Anyone else noticed the guys Tevas flappin' in the wind as the camera falls away from him (canopy deployment). Aside from the seriousness of the situation, it's a funny sight. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

There are definately going to be some DZ.commers there! I've been to the previous 4 Collegiate Boogies at Skydive Williston, and they are always a BLAST. This is what's on the agenda so far: FREE BEER and FREE FOOD all weekend, raft dives, Bird-Man suit demos (for those with the minim required jumps), college BABES , RW & Freefly load organizing, 4-way scrambles , CASA aircraft, JELLO Wrestling on one of the nights (still working out the details on this one). Saturday night we're going to hit the UF night life...for those of you who didn't make it last year or don't know, UF is known for it's night life as one of the top 3 party schools in the nation. As it is, I'm negotiating deals with several club owners for special VIP service for those who come down for the boogie. If you have any questions, let me know. And for those of you not wanting to camp out at the DZ and cannot afford a hotel, I can cram a shitload of people in my apartment (I live 4 minutes away from Downtown G'ville, and 20 minutes from Skydive Williston). --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Replacing Velocity's lines with HMA
JGarcia replied to JGarcia's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
So I've read of people replacing their FX's/VX's lines with HMA lines (Precision Aerodynamic's X-Mod). Has anyone heard of people replacing their Velocity's lines with HMA. I know this month's Parachutist Mag has a small article that says PD's experimenting with this option, but then the article goes on to state that the life span of HMA lines are only 100 jumps. Now I know that's gotta be a typo because I've put 300+ on the lines on my Xaos-21. Would Precision Aerodynamics reline a Velocity (perform the so-called X-Mod) if one requested? Just a little more than curious, since I may be acquiring a Velocity 90. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam! -
HOOK IT BABY! I used to do about 50 degrees right followed by hard left 140 degree (to net ~90 degrees from original base leg to final). This would definately get me parallel to the ground. I have found however, that I a carving 180 to 270 degree (favor the left hand pattern) gives me better/longer swoops. It could be that my technique has much improved, but I find that this way I build up just as much speed and it definately gives me much more lattitude with reguards to height at which I begin the hook/carve. I currently have 300+ jumps on a Xaos-21 108 loaded at 1.9:1. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

ARRGH...I was at Z-Hills on Thursday and Friday afternoon on the way to and from Orlando (visiting the family...aka "relative" work) getting Reserve repack/cypress batteries/hard housings installed. Would've jumped Fri afternoon if I knew anything was going on. Oh well, guess I'll have to wait 'til Eloy for the next DZ.com-way. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

I'll be there from the afternoon of the 25th thru the 29th or 30th. I'll be bringing my Skyflyer with me and hope to get some flocking dives going as well. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Do you have all the updates for version 7? Don't know if this is the problem..I have problems playing mpegs that I make on pinnacle...hoping that when I upgrade to version 8 these problems will magically disappear. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

What does everyone use for DV capture and editing?
JGarcia replied to konradptr's topic in Photography and Video
I'm still using 7 without too many problems (I get some funky stuff when making mpegs). I've got the upgrades to 7 as well so it's actually 7.15 or something like that. I've got a friend hunting down version 8 off the internet...I'm tired of paying every few months for the upgrades. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam! -
If you're exporting the finished video back to the camcorder, why are you making it an .avi? When you go to the "Make Movie" window, choose "TAPE", not "AVI". Then click on "Create." When it's done rendering, it'll tell you to press play on the player window (at this time hit the REC & mark button on your PC9 or PC9 remote control). The only reason you'd need to make it an AVI file is if you want other programs to be able to read the rendered movie. The Video camera won't capture the first 2 or so seconds of your rendered video, so what I do to remedy this is start my videos with about 2 seconds of a black screen before the action starts. This should work! Good Luck. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

I'll be leaving from Torrance in a few minutes...also bringing a Tandem for you guys. What aircraft are you flying today? Oh, she wants to know what your Tandems go for. Thanks for the quick reply! Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

What's up? I'm in California from Florida for a couple of days. Of course, I brought my gear with me I got a chance to get away and jump. I'll be there around noon...hoping to do some RW or Bird-Man jumps. Let me know, I'll be able to check the forums for about another hour. SWEET! I have 250+ jumps on my Xaos-21 108 and have nothing but good things to say about it's openings. I've had 2 pretty good line twists in that time, but the canopy still flew straight and level. The first one was flying a Bird-Man suit, but I deployed in a funky position. The other time I was jumping a camera, but it felt wrong as soon as I pitched the pilot chute (possible snag on corner of container??) Overall, the canopy gives me the most consistent openings (much better than even a Spectre 135). So don't know if it'll help, but here's what I do... Stow brakes as soon as I land. Once in the packing area, I separate the line grops (brake lines rear riser lines, front riser lines). I flake the tail, counting out the four brake lines, quarter my slider, flake the nose. Then I grab the entire nose, shake the canopy out and shove everything towards the center/middle of the parachute. I then take the stabilizers and bring them in towards the middle as well. At this point, only half of the logo is visible on either stabilizer (the other half is folded in towards the middle with the rest of the nose). Next, I bring the slider out from within the nose and open it up so that it kinda resembles an open ....part of the female genitalia. I grab the tail, wrap 5 times, lay it down. It goes into the bag. I single stow the first two stows with a regular size rubber band (each stow is about 1 to 1.5 inches long). I then double stow EVERY other stow using the MINI rubber bands. This leaves me with about 18 inches of slack left from the last stow to the riser. I pack it this way EVERY time and works quite well for me, even when I deploy in a slight track or flying the bird-man suit. I use a standard PC (probably 24 inches). The important thing with these HMA lines is that they're stowed TIGHTLY, and you deploy stable. I never steer through my opening and I never look up at my opening parachute unless there's a problem. Hope this may help. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

I shoot with a Sony PC-100 that is top-mounted right next to a Nikon N70 still camera on a Bat-Rack helmet. So PC-series cameras aren't limited to side mounting. I'm all about versatility, so get something that'll allow you to shoot anything you want without having to change between types of jumps (except maybe focus length). I video mostly Tandems and RW, and this set up works well for me. Like everyone else here has said, Sony cameras seem to be up for the challenge that skydiving presents...so I would suggest sticking to what works. Good Luck & Blue Skies. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

This weekend was tight! 2 Bird-Man jumps, 3 Tandem Videos, one request from customer's mother for me to dance for a Bachelorette party, one 4-way video, 1 AFF Level 5 where I got to see my student go into a gnarly side spin, 1 sunset 4 pt 16-way, one 2pt 14-way, one 4 pt 16-way, one 2pt 18-way. All jumps out of a CASA. Too bad the fuel pump at the airport broke down at 4pm yesterday cuz I wanted to get a couple more bird-man jumps in. Oh well, can't complain...perfect weather here in FL this weekend...can't wait 'til Eloy in December!! ...still haven't decided about the Bachelorette party, though --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

The first full face I bought was a Z1. I had it for about 2 weeks until I tried on my friend's Oxygn. The Oxygn was a lot more comfortable and I liked the flip up lens and profile better. The thing that killed it for the Z1 was the bunch of material at the mouth, made it feel rather stuffy. And jumping in FL weather, that's the last thing I needed. I've since sold my Oxygn and upgraged to the Oxygn-A3 (another flip up lens from SkySystems) and have nothing but good things to say about it. I just replace the lens every 10 months or so, depending on usage (about $22 from Square1). I would strongly suggest trying them both out. I didn't, and ended up with the hassle of having to return the Z1. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Myself and 2 girls will be staying in one of the team rooms at the DZ. The original plan was to bring a 4-way team for the Collegiate Nationals, but that's now been reduced to a 2-way team. It's $40 a night, but with 4 or 5, tha'll only be $10 or $8 a night. Not bad for being right on the DZ (and not a tent ). We'll be flying out of JAX on the morning of the 25th. If anyone is interested, let me know. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

I'll be arriving in Phoenix Christmas day, early afternoon. If anyone needs a ride from the airport to Eloy, let me know...we'll be renting a car & should have room for 1 more person. I'll be staying until the 29th or 30th because gf wants to go snowboarding & to the Grand Canyon as well. Should be interesting watching her trying to skysurf for the first time. I agree with you, John, the compilation video will be TIGHT! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

This is going to be Sweet! I was wondering if there were going to be any other bird people going to Eloy. BBarnhouse informed me that there were some resident birds there...can't wait to flock over Eloy. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

I was there last year and it was a VERY good time...My girlfriend and I even won the costume contest Sat night for our Dominatrix/S&M costumes. I will admit, however, that I was going to boycott this year because one of their camera people, David Laidlaw, took some video footage that I shot for the "Hog-Flop" competition and sold it for profit as material. Pretty F*cked up. Yep, he did video for 2 of the 14 teams, yet he took everyones videos that were given to him for "judging purposes only" and compiled the video that he sold for $10 a pop. Funny how he disappeared Sunday when I was looking to give him a piece of my mind. But then I heard the DZO, Winnie (she's such a sweetheart), say that Laidlaw had been kicked off the DZ and Billy "I know ALL" Webber WASN'T going to be spotting the CASA, so I know we'll actually have a chance to make it into DZ this year!!! I'll definately be there Fri afternoon, Sat, and Sun. Sweet!! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

I would guess that he'd have 3 wires going through the cable: +, -, and ground. Well, they've postponed the shoot for a couple of weeks...logistics and hurricanes postponed our first 2 attempts. Hopefully the project will get picked up soon. I can still give you my autograph though! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

I think that Phastasphuk has hit the nail right on the head when he says So here it is: Go to your local RadioShack or similar store and get a mini jack (male and female plugs). Cut the wire that connects your lens to the recorder at the point on the base of your neck. Connect (solder) one end of the severed wire to the male jack, the other severed end to the female jack. Now you can have a very quick way to completely jettisson the helmet without having to worry about crap flailing behind you if you have to get rid of your helmet. I definately agree that your set up is less prone to snagging than 90% of professional cameraflyer setups...including mine. However, the main concern here isn't the snagging, it's the ability to quickly AND completely jettinsoning the stuff that's causing the snag. I use a similar jack set up that connects my camera's shutter release to a tongue switch, all contained within the helmet (Bat-Rack, by BoneHead Composites). I used the jack system so that I could QUICKLY (1 minute or so) change out tongue switches--in case one happens to short out I could quickly detatch it from the shutter release and put on my backup tongue switch. It took 10 minutes to do all the soldering so you don't need much prep time...and this would be FAR more convenient and more realistic than having to carry around a wire cutter with you in freefall. Remember, Keep it Simple. Try this, and you may have best of both worlds. Good luck!! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Deuce, Is this thread cracking you up as much as it's cracking me up? But before I get flamed, yes, it's a serious topic, but the interactions (web based) are quite amusing...or maybe it's my lack of sleep. Oh well, at least I'll be videotaping a nekkid Tandem in 4 hours. TIGHT! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
