Like many of us, I've ammassed quite a bit of gear throughout my skydiving and cameraflying career--very expensive gear. So for obvious reasons I really need to think about insuring all of this stuff. I'll admit that I don't have the first clue as to the best kind of insurance/insurance options. Sure, I could just call State Farm Insurance and ask them, but I figured a little research through my peers would better educate and prepare me before I make this call. So, any ideas, advice, thougths, or just telling me the kind of equipment insurance you currently have would be greatly appreciated. I am currently looking to insure: 2 complete rigs, RW & Freefly helmets, complete camera setup (helmet, still, video, lenses, etc), all suits (RW comp, freefly, Bird-Man, Camera), and computer & editing equipment. Thanks! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Count me in. I was going for the Collegiates as Camera flyer, but looks like this boogie will be a hell of a blast. --Jairo PS. Any Bird-People heading over there? Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

I highly reccommend the Xaos...haven't jumped the X-27, but my X-21 is incredible in every respect. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

I have a Sony PC-100 and just use Sony's Head cleaning mini-DV cassette. Just pop it in, run it for 10 seconds and it's done. It doesn't come with any fluids to add to it like some VCR head cleaners so I'm assuming it's a dry one. ?? It has not given me any problems (knocking on wood) since I've been using it whereas prior to purchasing this head cleaner I would get pixelation and that annoying message when you're trying to record that says "cleaning cassette" at least once every other week. I would recommend it, because from what I've seen, the good points have outweighed the poor ones. Please let me know if there is some outstanding reason as to why I shouldn't be using this! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Hi John, out of convenience, I'll usually get the Sony mini-DV tapes that are available at your local Wal-Mart (or similar store). However, I also get Panasonic "Professional" mini-DV tapes that are to significantly reduce the occurence of pixelation or image drop out. If you get them from a media/mail order place, they are VERY inexpensive (half price of what you get regular ones at the store). And since reliability in our equipment is a MUST when you've only got one shot at getting it right (competition video, paying Tandems) I also clean my tape heads once every other week with a Sony Head Cleaning cassette. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

OH, no doubt...that look is hard to beat. Maybe that's why it's so sexxy when you see it outside the bedroom... discloses what they'll look like after a nice sexual escapade.

I agree with Jessica on this one. There's nothing sexxxier than a woman who is wet from sweat...whether it be at the gym, at the DZ, or on the dance floor. Ooh...I think I'm going dancing tonight! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

No not at all...they're not requirements..they're variations on the same theme. It's these variations that make breasts beautiful and interesting. As far as requirements, I don't have any as far as breasts are concerned because I'm a leg man. At the same time, if you're getting undressed in front of me, then I'd hope you were comfortable, otherwise you wouldn't be getting nekkid. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Ok, Now you're killing me! Toys & a healthy sex drive...It would be surprising to find someone that thinks about it more than me. So you live in St. Pete? You're only 1.8 hours from me . Ok, is not attractive...BUT...I've dated a few natural D's that were firm and they were nice! The last 3 girls that I've dated have had implants (C's & D's) and those, although different, were also very nice. However, that said, I think perfect size would be B/C...although that is very dependent on perkyness and nipple darkeness, size and placement. Wow, all this talk about breasts...I need to go home now! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Hello Phil, Welcome to the insanity...congratulations on your newfound love. I too felt the same way when I started. At the time I was a Neuroscience Major at the University of Florida in the US. Currently I'm a Molecular Biologist at the University--managing a research lab, applying to Medical school for next year. I also work as a freefall photographer, AFF, & Tandem Instructor on the weekends! I feel like both careers balance each other out...I wouldn't change the dichotomy because I'd get bored otherwise. Cheers! --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

You have some very good points, Paul. It's going to be regional...North and Central Forida. Guess that I hadn't really thought about the fact that this isn't your normal "camera man/ground pounder" gig...I'm actually risking my life to shoot this commercial for them! I better get moving on my research, they want to start shooting this Friday. I guess it makes sense to charge a daily rate, as opposed to by the jump because if it rains (with 3 storms sorrounding FL currently) I won't get anything for my time. Thanks Quade. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Thanks, John....they did say that they would have the aerial photography credits on the commercials . That's why I was leaning towards just having them pay for jumps, packs, & film. I won't be losing any money because they want to shoot during the week, so I'll just take off from my weekday job for the day. But, especially since there's a friend involved (he's actually the person who convinced me to make my 1st jump 7 yrs ago), I don't want to be greedy about things. Thanks for the feedback. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Hey, I'm shooting a series of commercials for a communications company. The thoughts right now are 3 or 4 commercials over the span of a year. Jumps, of course, are paid for. But when asked what kind of compensation I was looking for, I had to tell them that I'd have to get back to them on the subject. Should I charge by the jump? By the day? I'll mainly be filming the same guy (different variations on a theme) who happens to work for the company and is a friend of mine. Any suggestions? Approaches. Right now I'm leaning towards just chalking it up to experience and a good opportunity to build my resume...but should I be thinking of more? ($$$) Any suggestions appreciated. I'm not particularly greedy, so I won't be trying to "milk them." --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

OHHH, something I just thought of that helps : How much do you weigh? I ask because I only weigh 165 lbs without gear and found that using a weight belt (I use a "lead-belly") when fiming tandem passengers that outweigh me by more than 10 pounds and are shorter than me (therefore less drag on the Tandem pair). It's nearly impossible to get the critical angle needed with vector tandems when you've gotta fly with your wings collapsed, arching like a mo' fo' to keep up with them. Ever since I discovered this, I'll look at the student, if they out-weigh me AND are short, I know they'll haul ass. So I'll slap on 5 to 10 puounds depending on the severity of our height/weight differences and the jump is a breeze. Remember, without the wing's help, you won't be able to achieve the critical angle without flying in a sit or back...unless you can swivel your head 180 degrees. Your videos/pics will definately improve if you don't have to think of how you're flying because you can put all of your attention to framing and lighting. ...besides, landings are always more fun when you're loaded with lead. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

I film both Vector and Strong Tandems and I can tell you guys that there is a significant difference between the angles of these two systems. It is a lot easier to get a better angle on Strongs. It took me a while to learn how to use my wings and legs to get extremely steep on Vectors. I fly mostly on my belly with C-wing camera Jacket over an RW suit with booties or over a freefly suit, depending on my mood. My cameras are mounted on top of a Bat-Rack, so there's 0 degree tilt. When I first started, I thought it was nearly impossible to get the angle on the Vectors while belly to earth. But through experience, I can tell you that it is possible and you don't have to kill your neck trying to do it. Use wings to set you up and legs to keep you from back sliding. The Sigma systems are more comparable to the Strong systems...because the bridle attatchment "point" is further towards the reserve than the older Vector systems which have the bridle attatchment at the bottom of the container. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Was this the result of normal wear and tear? Which tab numbers (from the top tab of the wing) pulled out? Also, which wing(s)? --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Well, switching from top to side in order to film 4-way doesn't make much sense to me...what's your reasoning? I shoot both Tandems and RW, and Top mount works for me. Not sure, but don't think I've seen any "serious" 4-way cameraflyers go with a sidemount. Again, I guess I'm not understanding your reasoning, unless it's just personal preference. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!

Tailgate Exits (Was - What filters do you use?)
JGarcia replied to Deuce's topic in Photography and Video
I know with a (Bird-Man) Wing-Suit you can get quite a bit above the aircraft (100 ft or so)...that's going with full wings immediately upon high speed exit. Spreading the wings on a camera suit would get you further away from the formation. However, in most cases, proximity to the chunk is more important than distance above it on exit. --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam! -
I fly a Bat-Rack as well, so I'm curious as too why you'd want to change over to another helmet. What cameras are you currently flying? --Jairo Low Profile, snag free helmet mount for your Sony X3000 action cam!
