Point taken with regard to statistics. Not sure that has anything to do with the validity of what they believe, however. By the way, you're saying a PhD has more education than a MD? My wife had a 4 year residency after 4 years of medical school....then through 3 step boards for certification.
-
I have no idea what any of this has to do with the fact that (by his own words) Kallend has no idea what he's talking about or arguing against with regard to theology. (Yes, I have had statistics). And you are obviously as prone to gross generation as he is.

My Wife and I are both college educated. She is an OB/GYN Physician. Every adult in our extended families is college educated, most (on her side) with at least a Masters level. Her Dad was a Radiologist. I have another brother-in-law who's a Family Practice Physician. Another who has a mechanical engineering undergraduate, a Law Degree, and is now President of Birmingham Theological Seminary. We are all Christians except for one brother-in-law Materials Engineer PhD type who is in fact an atheist. Just don't think your theory with regard to educational level holds up very well.

And hence you show your ignorance of the subject. You really have no idea what you're arguing against because you base your understanding of Christianity on what you see on the History Channel or the latest outlandish cult you see portrayed on the news. Worse yet, you're unwilling to learn. You're just "sure it's wrong" and we're all "nuts."

So Kallend, you think Harold Camping represents traditional orthodox Christian thought? Surely, you can concede that some with extreme views do not necessarily represent the whole. One could give examples of atheists you probably wouldn't want to be associated with. With regard to eschatology, there are actually four different schools of thought. The bible is unclear on the particulars. It is a non-essential area of theology with regard to salvation meaning that Christians can agree to disagree. One area where there is consensus, however, is that Christ will return someday and we don't and can't know when.

Still here brother.

this applies to you to as well, every time you speak, all I hear is Charlie Brown's teacher. I'm a Christian.. no, I'M a Christian... No really , I am a true Christina... no, no you are mistaken, I AM a true Christian... May 21 came and went, all the Christians can shut the fuck up. I am not a prophet. Nothing I say should be stapled into the back of your Bible. I'm just relaying what it says. I also do not claim to know when the world will end. The bible says that no one can know that. Either way, however, I would think you'd respect other's freedom of speech like I think you'd want yours respected. We both disagree but we're also free do do that.

God’s permissive will allows for injustice to occur in our fallen world. He will allow you to act out according to the greatest desires of your heart. Even so, God overrules your evil deeds/thoughts for His good. In the end, it will all work out according to His eternal decree and righteous plan. However, just because God knows your evil thoughts and what you will do does not make him the primary cause of your actions. You are a responsible moral agent. A just judge ensures that justice is done. All these “good” people that you mention are guilty of the same sins you and I are. That’s the point. (Romans 3:23) Everyone inevitably translates original sin into their own. You know it’s wrong to sin (pick one) yet you do it anyway. Most people know that it’s wrong to lie yet they do it anyway. You can’t claim ignorance or that you were set up. That’s not the case as was stated earlier. It is true that we are fortunate to have lived in a place where at least access to the scripture and the gospel message are available. You are fortunate to have heard what you are rejecting now. Many people don’t get that chance. That’s why Christians need to take the gospel to those people who might not ever hear it. Everyone is totally evil from God’s perspective throughout the course of their entire lives until God changes the nature of that person. Because of Jesus Christ, all those “bad” people who turn to Him in repentance and faith can now be “seen as” good people not because of anything they’ve done but because of what Jesus did on their behalf.

Well, as crazy as it may seem, i'd rather be in a right standing with my God than with you. Nevertheless, I wish you well.

You show your ignorance by your generalizations. That's what happens when you don't really read anything but just pop in for a "drive by" shooting every once in a while. Makes it hard to take seriously.

...or the boogie man will get you!! (like he did Anne Frank) Not talking about the boogie man here but "It is a terrible thing to fall onto the hands of the living God." As it stands right now, you will not br greeted as a friend when you die...because you are guilty of breaking the law....countless times, if you're like the rest of us. I know you don't believe it but it would be good to at least to be informed of what's to come and why. Hell is hot and it's forever. But, it's not too late. You don't know, however, how long you have. I have lost many friends unexpectedly. Even though the prospect of eternal punishment should frighten anyone, no one should turn to Jesus because they're afraid of hell. They should turn to Jesus because he has been so kind to save them from hell.

A loving God cannot permit injustice. Some say that because God is love, he cannot hate. I say that because God is love, he must hate. If God loves that which is holy, he must hate that which is unholy. A just judge cannot let the criminal go unpunished without justice being served. If he did, he would be as corrupt as the criminal. Better be right...

I'm not selling anything. Not using a Jedi mind trick either. The reality of it exists whether you believe it or not. You know you're guilty if you've got a conscience. Just wondering what your game plan is. Seriously.

I can't say where she is right now. Neither can you. I'm not her judge. All I can hope for is that she put her faith in Jesus Christ before she died or else her sins are not forgiven. That's all one can hope for anyone. The Jews know the prophecy They understand the Passover. Many have understood and believed that the Passover points to fulfilment in Jesus Christ. The real question here, though, isn't Anne Frank. She's gone and her fate is sealed either way. The question is how are you going to atone for your sins? What are you going to do when you die and have to stand before God and give an account? It's coming. Probably not tomorrow but nevertheless.

By who's standard? Mine. Was she good by your standards? (it's time for you to insert some bullshit about nobody being good enough...) I thought she was a very good person but what does that matter? We're not going to be judged by my standard of goodness or yours.
-
By who's standard?
-
Who's good? This is not Presbyterian specific. The bible says that only God is good. If only God is good, then you and I need a Savior. Otherwise, we will be held accountable for what we've done. If anyone is in heaven right now, it is because they repented and placed their trust in Jesus Christ.
-
You just hit the nail on the head.
-
One doesn't go to hell because they fail to follow the particular tenets of some denomination/religion or even if they've never heard of Jesus. If they go to hell, it's because they've not kept God as their top priority, worshipped other gods or lack thereof, taken God's name in vain, lied, stolen, lusted, coveted, dishonored parents, etc.

That is correct. They adopt teachings outside of the essential teachings of Christianity which puts them into the category of a non-Christian cult. What about catholics? Depends... Those Roman Catholics who place their faith in Jesus Christ alone for their salvation (just like anyone else) will be saved.

I am perfect in my relationship with the universe . So are you! And you would have been whether or not the Master, Jesus the Christ, ever incarnated. Peace, Jim B Yes...but would you consider yourself to be a good god?

James White has studied the false teachings of Harold Camping for a long time. Here is his website. It explains why Harold Camping falls outside of traditional Christianity. This is a debate with Harold Camping.

That is correct. They adopt teachings outside of the essential teachings of Christianity which puts them into the category of a non-Christian cult. But how do we know they aren't the real Christians, and you are the poser? Because if I interpret scripture in a particular way and say "because that's what the bible says" and my interpretation doesn't match up with 2000 years of historical Christian teaching on the subject, then I have cause for concern that my interpretation is incorrect (speaking of the essentials of the Christian faith, that is). If I'm denying, for instance, the divinity of Jesus Christ or the essence of the Trinity, then I am contrary to what nearly every other theologian in Christianity has determined over the course of history. A good source for determining the essentials with regard to salvation in Christianity can be found in a number of Creeds.
