  1. No one can predict the end. (Matthew 24:36)
  2. Yes because if he read the complete "fictional story" it would be more clear. Are you this critical of other literary works or just the bible? Do you apply the same standard of textual criticism across the board? Can you honestly say you examine it without bias? What is it about Jesus that invokes such a hostile response in you? I know the answer. I just was wondering what you thought.
  3. What?? Read the whole chapter??? Coreece! You ask too much!
  4. Matthew 24:34 "This cannot refer to the generation living at that time of Christ, for "all these things" - the abomination of desolation (v. 15), the persecutions, and judgments (vv. 17-22), the false prophets (vv. 23-26), the signs in the heavens (vv. 27-29), Christ's final return (v. 30), and the gathering of the elect (v. 31) - did not "take place" in their lifetime. It seems best to interpret Christ's words as a reference to the generation alive at the time when those final hard labor pains begin. This would fit with the lesson of the fig tree, which stresses the short span of time in which these things will occur." - John MacArthur
  5. Who's got the stronger faith? The Christian or the Atheist. I'd almost say that the atheist does....almost.
  6. Predicting the end of the world is nothing new. People have been doing it throughout history. It's where the 7th Day Adventists originated (e.g. William Miller, Millerism, "The Great Disappointment", etc.) You can know a false prophet if, what he says will happen does not happen(Deuteronomy 18:22) That standard can also be applied to The Watchtower Society (their prophet) of the Jehavah's Witnesses. Lots of cults have sprung out of folks centering their theology solely on eschatology.
  7. This is very weak. Fits well, however, with the shallow "just skim the surface" mentality of the modern athiest or anyone else who will not accept the biblical message (e.g. Mormons).
  8. You hit the nail on the head. If Jesus came only to show us how to live or if He would have just declared that his was only "a way" instead of "the way", nobody would have a problem. The world applauds the search for truth, however, condemns anyone who's arrogant enough to say that they've found it.
  9. This statement doesn't even make sense from your atheistic evolutionary worldview.
  10. “On the principal that no clean thing can come out of what is unclean (Job 14:4), all that are born of woman are declared ‘abominable and corrupt,’ to whose nature iniquity alone is attractive (Job 15:14-16). Accordingly, to become sinful, men do not wait until the age of accountable action arrives. Rather, they are apostates from the womb, and as soon as they are born go astray, speaking lies (Ps. 58:3); they are even shapen in iniquity, and conceived in sin (Ps. 51:5). The propensity of their heart is evil from their youth (Gen. 8:21), and it is out of the heart that all of the issues of life proceed (Prov. 4:23; 20:11). Acts of sin are therefore but the expression of the natural heart, which is deceitful above all things and exceedingly corrupt (Jer. 17:9).” – Warfield, Biblical Doctrines, p. 440.
  11. I'd go with take him alive (if possible), and use effective interogation techniques (not torture) until he told us everything we wanted to know. Try him in court, and if found guilty, let him rot in solitary confinement for the rest of his life. When he dies, return his body to his family to be buried as they see fit. I put the importance of American values and security above the importance of sick revenge fantasies. I'll bet you might feel differently if it were your wife and kids, brother, sister, mom, dad, "brother-in-arms", who were about to be killed by a person who has sworn to do so and has demonstrated his willingness to follow through. If that prisoner had information that would help you to save thier lives, I'll bet you'd be willing to cut his fingers off one by one.
  12. What does that have to do with rights afforded U.S. citizens under our Constitution?
  13. He's not American, he declared war on us, killed our people, and it's war, he's a foreign terrorist, not an American citizen with rights under our constitution.
  14. Just an observation. You found it necessary to qualify your critique in order not to offend any Muslims who might read it. It doesn't seem necessary or even desired to offer the same courtesy here with regard to the Bible and Christians. Just find it interesting.
  15. Take him alive, if possible, and waterboard him every day for the rest of his life until he told us everything we wanted to know about his organization, their plans, and the whereabouts of his people. If it was impractical to take him alive, he'd get a 5.56mm to the forehead. He wouldn't be "read his rights." He might just get a burial in a pig pen.
  16. That's not as cool as sharks with friggin lasers on their heads.
  17. I love the slip of the tongue that everyone including news reporters seem to keep making saying Obama insread of Osama.
  18. For the exact same reason it is OK to shoot a criminal in the middle of an arrest if he fights back, but it is not OK to hook a car battery up to his balls once back at the station. I'd opt for the battery if he had actionable info that would save the lives of my guys.
  19. Just a guess. I could be wrong. I'd bet that, if you happened to be a prisoner in a Taliban camp, where they'd beaten, raped, and tortured you for weeks and planned to hang you soon publicly from a sign post at the entrance of town for all (especially their women) to see, you might be overjoyed for a Spec Ops team to bust in at night and shoot each one of your captors in the forehead and get you to safety. Would you still be very upset over the attrocity of killing those who did so much harm to you? Or would you have an overwhelming sense of joy to still be alive? Again...I could be wrong. Reality just seems to change opinions sometimes.
  20. I guess that's where we differ significantly. If I just saved my family (or even myself for that matter) from someone in my house who wishes to do us harm...even if I had to make that person "assume room temperature"...I would be ellated and sleep like a baby that night...after I calmed down, that is. It is not "an attrocity" to protect what is yours. Some things are worth dying for. "Don't Tread on Me!"
  21. Dude...no problem. I loved being on the team. I'd still be there if I was single with no really small children. I'd do it all again. I also didn't post that to boast. I do not like coming across that way. I am proud of my service but not in that way. I only did it because it felt a little strange (I'm sure it was my pride) being "called out" on combat experience by a girl. Guess I'm just from another generation. NO OFFENCE INTENDED for those women out there who have served. I deeply respect your service. I mean that. Just struck me as odd. I respect anyone...and I mean anyone who is willing to pick up a rifle and stand with me. I don't care who you are.
  22. Obama is an ego-maniac but (and I never thought I'd say this) if I saw him right now, I'd want to shake his hand. He is the Commander-in-chief, he had to make the decision, and he did good. Give credt where it is due.
  23. Would you be in favor of using deadly force at your disposal if someone broke into your house and threatened you or your family's life...or even killed one of them? The tyrant we just elliminated had people steal our planes, fly them in the airspace of our home country, and into our buildings, killing thousands of our family members...and planned to do more. Are you saying not to fight back?
