Wow! Just checking in. This is the most heretical statement in here in a while. I mean, it is in essence what the secular humanist believes but startling to see the blasphemy plainly stated. You just broke the first and foremost commandment of God. It is the same lie originally told by Satan to Adam & Eve in tge garden and the same lie being perpetrated today.

I question those who ignore real science (operational science)...what we can see, demonstrate, falsify, "prove." I also REALLY question those who ignore what God clearly says and replace it with humanistic, evolutionary foundational thinking based on "historical" science which can't be proven. Although, I do think they have great faith...in themselves...and some blind force.

blah blah blah.... Here's some 'scripture' that i try to understand and appreciate. http://blogs.discovermagazine.com/80beats/2011/05/16/oases-of-bacteria-provided-oxygen-to-spark-evolution-of-first-multicellular-animals/ It makes more sense and it actually have factual basis.....OMG, it even has scientific references at the bottom of the article.....it could even be called.......SCIENCE! I'd prefer that you just took what I say at face value even if you disagree with it instead of picking out words to fit your purposes. I'm certain that you probably misrepresent scripture in the same manner. I never disagreed that faith is required. I just disagree with you that there's no reason behind it. What you're describing is blind faith. That, I do not have. Fortunately, God doesn't leave us with that. And what I'm pointing out is that you take a faith position yourself. You must presuppose that everything came from nothing, blew up, and organized itself into what we see today. You can't prove that either but that is your starting point. Everyone's got to put faith in something. You place yours in yourself and blind luck. I place mine in God. I understand completely. I think there is much abuse in the system of religion (the Roman Catholic Church is a great example. However, what evil men do with religion has nothing to do with the validity of God or what He says.

Can one "prove" God? I think it depends on your presuppositions. I presuppose God created the universe out of nothing. Is there proof of that? I believe there is both in the creation and our consciences bearing witness to his moral law. There is great complexity and obvious design in the universe. It is evident to me that there must have been a designer. If you don't presuppose that, they you must presuppose that something came from nothing, blew up, and on its own became an organized everything. However, I disagree with the Intelligent Design movement by itself. Intelligent Design does not take into account the personal aspect of God and His relationship with us. God purposed to make himself known to us not only through the creation and our consciences (general revelation) but also through His written word (special revelation). Is faith required to believe in God? Absolutely! You will not be saved apart from it. However, it is not faith without reason. God didn't leave us in the dark with no way out. The problem with people is they like the darkness.

"The usual approach of science of constructing a mathematical model cannot answer the questions of why there should be a universe for the model to describe." - Stephen Hawking

Weeping, gnashing of teeth, eternal torment, where the worm never dies......doesn't sound like a party to me.

[url]http://www.gotquestions.org/three-days.html On a side note, you've got to try and understand Scripture from their perspective and not your, from their cultural standpoint and not yours, figure out what the author was intending to convey instead of smashing your definitions into their words.

Christianity stands or falls on the resurrection. If jesus did not die on the cross and if he was not raised from the dead, then the whole thing is a sham and we are not forgiven of our sins. That would be very bad news for everyone.

The Bible and The Koran - ever read either??

God's moral standard existed before Moses otherwise those before would have been unjustly punished (e.g. Adam & Eve). God codified the Law for the Hebrew people. It's purpose is to point to Christ. -

Impressive Kallend. Is that really the best you've got?

Well, one way is that I don't center my theology around eschatology. Like I said before "No one can predict the end. (Matthew 24:36)." Where the Bible is silent on an issue, I also remain silent. As Paul Washer says, "You will know absolutely everything you need to know about the second coming of Christ on the day of the second coming.

This is very weak. . Facts are neither strong nor weak. They just are. Mythology, on the other hand, is interesting but is not fact. You seem to have a hard time telling the difference. I do so enjoy your unbiased critical analysis in which you are obviously an expert. I can tell you've really put effort into uncovering the truth. -
No one can predict the end. (Matthew 24:36) Well, there's no shortage of christian idiots that do it... http://tacomaatheists.com/eotw I'm not disputing that.

Yes because if he read the complete "fictional story" it would be more clear. Are you this critical of other literary works or just the bible? Do you apply the same standard of textual criticism across the board? Can you honestly say you examine it without bias? What is it about Jesus that invokes such a hostile response in you? I know the answer. I just was wondering what you thought.

What?? Read the whole chapter??? Coreece! You ask too much!

Matthew 24:34 "This cannot refer to the generation living at that time of Christ, for "all these things" - the abomination of desolation (v. 15), the persecutions, and judgments (vv. 17-22), the false prophets (vv. 23-26), the signs in the heavens (vv. 27-29), Christ's final return (v. 30), and the gathering of the elect (v. 31) - did not "take place" in their lifetime. It seems best to interpret Christ's words as a reference to the generation alive at the time when those final hard labor pains begin. This would fit with the lesson of the fig tree, which stresses the short span of time in which these things will occur." - John MacArthur

Who's got the stronger faith? The Christian or the Atheist. I'd almost say that the atheist does....almost. -
Predicting the end of the world is nothing new. People have been doing it throughout history. It's where the 7th Day Adventists originated (e.g. William Miller, Millerism, "The Great Disappointment", etc.) You can know a false prophet if, what he says will happen does not happen(Deuteronomy 18:22) That standard can also be applied to The Watchtower Society (their prophet) of the Jehavah's Witnesses. Lots of cults have sprung out of folks centering their theology solely on eschatology.

This is very weak. Fits well, however, with the shallow "just skim the surface" mentality of the modern athiest or anyone else who will not accept the biblical message (e.g. Mormons). -

You hit the nail on the head. If Jesus came only to show us how to live or if He would have just declared that his was only "a way" instead of "the way", nobody would have a problem. The world applauds the search for truth, however, condemns anyone who's arrogant enough to say that they've found it. -
This statement doesn't even make sense from your atheistic evolutionary worldview.

“On the principal that no clean thing can come out of what is unclean (Job 14:4), all that are born of woman are declared ‘abominable and corrupt,’ to whose nature iniquity alone is attractive (Job 15:14-16). Accordingly, to become sinful, men do not wait until the age of accountable action arrives. Rather, they are apostates from the womb, and as soon as they are born go astray, speaking lies (Ps. 58:3); they are even shapen in iniquity, and conceived in sin (Ps. 51:5). The propensity of their heart is evil from their youth (Gen. 8:21), and it is out of the heart that all of the issues of life proceed (Prov. 4:23; 20:11). Acts of sin are therefore but the expression of the natural heart, which is deceitful above all things and exceedingly corrupt (Jer. 17:9).” – Warfield, Biblical Doctrines, p. 440.
