  1. Well...at least I think I'm "Smarter than a 5th Grader."
  2. You 'assume' design, and therefore assume a designer. The is no evidence of either. And you assume no designer despite the design. No. Again, you're assuming the design. True...but it seems reasonable. If I were walking down the street and I came upon a grouping of rocks on the sidewalk that formed words which read Jay Phillips, who lives at 405 Willowbrook Terrace, Dothan, AL 36301, brown/hazel eyes, brown hair, 5' 10" tall, I wouldn't assume that those rocks formed themselves in such a manner by chance no matter how many millions of years you waited. Yes, it is an assumption but our DNA is billions of times more complex and specific than what I just described. You may assume that it can all happen by chance but that also...is an assumtion. Here is an interesting article about the Bacterial Flagellum. Much more complex than meets the eye. Irreducibly complex functionality. Could that have happened by chance? I don't think so...but you're free to your opinion. I just wish we'd all admit that we start from an assumption. It's the intellectually honest thing to do. We all have a starting point which we cannot entirely prove scientifically.
  3. Yes I have...good example...and the molecular structure for those consists of information which had to originate from somewhere. Snowflakes
  4. Well, I would start with the existence of the truck indicates a truck maker/designer. Again...an assumtion (the part concerning their motives). I understand your perspective but it is in fact, an assumption. I respect your opinion.
  5. You 'assume' design, and therefore assume a designer. The is no evidence of either. And you assume no designer despite the design. But we both begin with an assumption, correct? I admit mine. Do you admit yours?
  6. We just disagree with the source. I say design implies a designer. You say matter & energy can come from nothing on it's own and organize itself blindly through random chance. Neither of which can be proved scientifically.
  7. Jump out of an airplane without a parachute. As longn as you don't believe in gravity, you'll be alright. Right? Stand out in the middle of a busy street as long as you don't believe in big trucks. You'll be alright. Right? The light in the tunnel is either going to be the light at the end or an oncoming train. It will either "free your mind" and lead you to the truth....or squash you like a bug. One way or the other, however, you will meet the train. Your conscience informs you of this. You won't admit it but you know (because the rest of us all do) that lying is wrong. Have you lied? "All liars will have their part in the lake of fire." What you're doing now is dancing around inside of the plane with the music blaring, having a great time, about to jump out without your parachute on. You have no idea when that "green light" is going to come on.
  8. Fear Fear isn't a bad thing...it can save your life. "Fear causes hesitation and hesitation will cause your worst fears to come true." - Bodhi
  9. not all at - we have better things to do with our time that is all. Till you run out of time, that is.
  10. Weak? That's funny coming from someone who believes in invisible friends despite a total and complete lack of any objective evidence for their existence. And, given the obvious design/completely of the universe, you believe that everything came from nothing, blew up, and became, by some blind force of nature, an organized everything. Don't get me wrong, I greatly admire your faith.
  11. You're game is weak shown by your resorting to profanity and personal attacks.
  12. Doesn't matter. I'm not called to convert anyone but to present the gospel message in the Biblical manner. Only God can change the heart. It doesn't matter if I ever see a conversion. The Bible also describes limits to evangelist efforts stating "not to cast pearls (speaking of the gospel) before swine (arrogant and proud rebels hostile to God's grace.) But to dust your feet off as you head to the next town. The command to repent and believe the gospel is not a request. You will be held resposible for everything you have done, thought, or said one day.
  13. Aren't you going to throw some scripture in with that for good measure? Sure, if you'd like. "God resists the proud but gives grace to the humble." (James 4:6)
  14. I'm fairly certain of two things with regard to this question: One: "man-made" global warming (if that's even possible) isn't addressed in the Bible. Why would it be? Second: Jesus is more concerned about your soul than changes in the climate.
  15. Do Lawyers and Engineers count? My wife also had 4 years beyond medical school for her internship and residency (for her specalty). She actually got paid a small amount for that but I think it works out to minimum wage for the hours spent (at least back in those days; before the work limits now in place most places). I know that's kind of a work/school experience but nevertheless... It's a monumental ass-kicker. I've never seen anything like it. I don't think PhD's have that kind of nightmare after their "schooling"...but I could be wrong. Then...you've got to get board certification consisting of 3 step written boards and an oral board exam. No small task. Then, you can go do the job somewhere and "get paid too much money for what you do."
  16. Not immediately. Slowing or reversing the effect will take decades. But that isn't really the point, we need to start now, not remain in denial. Your religion is showing Yes it is.
  17. Sorry. Billvon. My mistake. I lose track sometimes. So it seems. Mostly when you invoke invisible friends to explain things. No. Last night was just due to the stress of the job and sleep deprvation...but thanks.
  18. Sorry. Billvon. My mistake. I lose track sometimes. It was a long night/little sleep.
  19. By who? Just a different focus (e.g. research vs. Practitioner). I don't think one is better or harder to get than the other. Kallend obviously thinks so, however. That's okay. I think he's wrong and wouldn't really have any idea unless he was also a MD or even a DO. But why should ignorance stop him from giving his "expert" opinion. Not that any of this duel of credentials has ANYTHING to do with the validity of what we're talking about. ADDED: You could always be one tough hombre and go for a MD/PhD. Then, you really never ever sleep or eat or see your friends/family.
  20. you forgot hatred, denial, crusading, witch-burning, child molestation, torture, and self-righteousness to name a few. Religion would be near perfect and EVERYONE would buy into it if it only had the traits that you describe. But sadly it does not. Interesting point. One person in history perfectly displayed the characteristics of love, joy, peace, happiness, thanksgiving, patience, kindness, etc. and they crucified Him for it. Seems everyone wouldn't buy into it if it were those things. The world hates anything contrary to it's corrupt self. The world doesn't and will not love the things of God.
