  1. You're going to focus on a typo? Come on man...
  2. No. Not really but you should know what you're up against. You will die someday. You're not guaranteed tomorrow. You should be terrified of the prospect of hell but that's not why you "should" tirn to Jesus. You should turn to Him because He had been so kind to provide the way for you to escape it. There is no love greater than that. Holy, without flaw, blameless in character.... Not sure how else to define morally perfect.
  3. No doubt about it. I agree completely that it is human nature and everyone is guilty of doing it. That's not my point. The point is there is a price to pay every time you or I break the Law. Either paid by you when you die or paid in your place by someone else.
  4. A mistake might be something accidental that you did to someone else. With regard to God, however, it's much more serious (e.g. Sin). Time doesn't forgive sin neither does good intentions (learning from and not doing again). That doesn't even work in our court system. A price has to be paid eventually either by you or by Jesus (in your place).
  5. No "knowledge" of god is required for that. True (God's Common Grace) but it does help to do it rightly (as God intended).
  6. Jesus came to save sinners. The righteous don't need saving. Guess you're good to go. But if you've ever lied, stolen, looked with lust outside of marriage, desired something that belonged to someone else, disrespected your parents, etc., you might want to reevaluate your character.
  7. Despite what the Bible says?? How would anyone ever know anything about the personal nature of God apart from His special revelation through scripture? God's nature does not change. The God of the OT is the same God of the NT. The Bible is a "progressive revelation" of God's plan of salvation for His people. Shadowy representations in the OT are revealed more fully in the NT. The purpose of the Law in the OT is to point you to Christ. Jesus is the "perfect" representation of God's nature because it is the same. Everything "points" to Christ. God's uncompromising execution of justice in the OT is still going to take place. Jesus came in peace to save sinners in the NT. Judgment has been "postponed" but it will occur. The next time Jesus comes, He will come as Judge...and there will literally be hell to pay for those who do not know Him.
  8. How could you possibly know that? Because it is in His very nature. Psalm 119:68
  9. Well, there's the first misconception. Actually, God is good...perfectly good...all the time. Our problem is usually that we misunderstand what good is. Ultimately, it's based on His standard of righteousness and not our own.
  10. Of what? Certainly right now I'm innocent of anything serious, and not just through technicalities. Don't compare yourself to others. Compare yourself to God's standard. Your infractions may seem trivial to you until you consider against whom the crimes are really against. To an infinitely holy God, one lie is deserving of hell. You mean like Him dying for those criminals who were still committing crimes against Him. That's pretty "nice."
  11. Ok..."If"...God does exist and you're judged when you die, will you be found innocent or guilty? By the way, were you objecting to God (in general) or saying that if He is holy and just, that He shouldn't punish sin?
  12. Do you think it would have been just (if you lived back then) for you to have died in the flood? Added: If God is in fact holy, then He must hate that which is unholy. If God is in fact just, then he must punish that which is unjust (sin). Question is: Which side are you on (rhetorical...we know already)? How are you going to account for your own lawlessness if you're planning to reject the ransom which was paid already on your behalf? I’d say (if you’re like how I was) you’ve got a huge problem. 10 out of 10 people die. The Bible says that when you die, you will face judgment. There won’t be any fence to sit on when that day comes. It will either be innocent or guilty.
  13. Satan isn't even close to being your biggest problem right now. God is. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxhxKdnjGA8 Johnny Cash - God's Gonna Cut You Down

  15. Context...context...context...Marinus. Got hermeneutics? I recommend Herman Who? by Todd Friel.
  16. ***1. USA Today: “Study seeks to explain the parting of the Red Sea” A recently reported study by meteorologist Carl Drews has suggested a way in which the waters of the Red Sea could have parted “naturally,” enabling the children of Israel, led by Moses, to cross as pharaoh’s army pursued (Exodus 14). Such an explanation might leave God with credit for the timing of the event, but little else. The courses of rivers and the locations of shorelines do change over time, and using satellite imagery to suggest a site where a branch in the Nile River delta once drained into a coastal lagoon, Drews has proposed that a 63 mph wind blowing for 12 hours could have pushed back a wall of water, exposed a land bridge, and held it for the crossing. This effect, called wind setdown, is sort of the opposite of storm surge. On the one hand, the wind setdown concept is somewhat more refreshing than the popular claim that the Israelites waded through a “reed sea,” inevitably leading to the joke about a little boy being amazed that God could drown the Egyptian army in six inches of water. The wind setdown idea is not inconsistent with the biblical fact ( Exodus 14:21-22 ) that God caused the sea to go back by a strong east wind all that night—after all, God created the wind and the water and can command them to behave as He chooses. However, the existence of a physical explanation for a miraculous phenomenon is not necessary and the demand for one prior to believing a biblical miracle is foolhardy. 17. That certainly takes all of the offensiveness out of the discussion, doesn't it? If Jesus had just said that He was "a way" and not "the way" to the Father, everyone could hold hands and sing Kumbaya. By the way, Jesus was also fully human.
  18. That's just low..... I love it!!! GENIUS!!
  19. Your "eye-witness testimonies" aren't very reliable according to historians. I think most historians agree that the gospels are probably based on a real person, but it isn't even proven that Jesus of Nazareth really existed. I think you'd be hard pressed to find even close to a "majority" of historians who don't hold to at least the New Testament manuscripts as being historically and textually accurate and trustworthy. Added: Is the Bible Reliable?
  20. If what you said was true, how could you trust anything. How would you know those who signed the Declaration of Independence actually were the ones who signed it? Ever watch a good magic show? .. Do people really levitate? or get sawn in 1/2? - you see what you want to see. Again...no evidence of trickery or attempt at deceit. Could it happen? Yes. Is there evidence that it did happen? No.
  21. Not if you understand the nature of sin and the fact that God is also "holy" and "just." or Just full of Holes Nice comeback. You must have studied up on that one.
