  1. From what I've read in other cities they get much better results if they get involved in the community. London's rise in crime had a direct correlation to the govt funding cuts to community outreach programs and staff. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  2. The biggest issue is it makes it seem like politics only occur along a linear slide when the truth is that there are many dimensions to it and how you view one thing may have zero to do or zero influence on your stance on another. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  3. Facebook lists me as a moderate based upon my activity but I'd say the issues I care most about put me squarely in the left. Social Democrat, Fiscal Conservative, used to be a party-line Republican until they started peddling bullshit about 15 years ago. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  4. Who the hell is making $25 per tandem? Good God, have some damn standards. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  5. Or the SS is protecting everyone, just their protectees. And if not allowing firearms in the building makes their protectees safer, even if it makes the others less safe, not their problem. Derek V So a perfect America would be an armed security detail for every American, let's amend the Constitution and call it a day. Sounds like we solved this one guys, time to shut down SC and get back to skydiving stuff. Hey, anyone heard about these RSL things, I just don't like the idea of my reserve deploying while I'm on my back! "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  6. No, it doesn't. The Secret Service isn't trying to make everyone safer, just their protectees). Derek V Regardless of who is making the call you can't fail to see the irony here. The secret service, who we all understand to be a very highly trained organization, recognizes that they are not able to respond to a threat and it's therefore better to ban them at certain events. This is well beyond what gun control advocates are calling for. The flip side of this is every time you see someone surrounded by armed security the NRA crowd shouts, "See, they have guns!!!" 7. I get the feeling that it went down like this: Hat guy goes to a bar. He has a few drinks. Someone makes disparaging comment about his hat. He gets mad. But the service was just fine, so he pays the bill and leaves a good tip. Afterwards he stews about it. "They can't say that to me! Don't they know who I am? I'm a patriot who was visiting the 9/11 memorial! How DARE they criticize me! They are going to pay for this." A few more drinks were likely involved. But how to retaliate? Sue the guy who insulted his hat? Then he's anti-free-speech. Sue the bar? For what? Then he has a flash of brilliance - "I'll say I was kicked out! After all, they can't prove I wasn't. And when they kick a black person out of a restaurant they sue; I just saw that on TV! And I am in the same situation here." And off he goes to find Dewey Cheatem and Howe, Attorneys at Law. Don't forget the part where he spends several weeks telling his friends about what the Libtards did to him in New York and he lies about it so for so long he doesn't even remember which version of the story he started with. 8. Gotta love it when posts contain irrelevant information that serves only to reveal the biases of the poster. Yup, might as well have said "three scary boogeymen". And I'd like to see a link to that story. Google turns up nothing. Did it come from a gun rights site or something? If it had said it was three "bad hombres" they could use this one as double duty to prove immigration threats too. As it is the best anyone can dig up is the random thwarted home invasion or knife attack somewhere else in the world. In the meantime criminal use of firearms and mass shootings continue unabated. 9. Sweet. Sounds like this is all along the lines of what we've all been saying that gun laws should be strict enough that they're difficult for criminals to get but easy enough for law abiding citizens to get. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  10. This guy is more and more becoming Better Call Saul. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  11. So just to wrap this one up, this wasn't a case of the judge ruling that bar could kick someone out for wearing a MAGA hat. The guy tried to sue them for damages for kicking him out and was unable to prove that they kicked him out. The bars says they didn't kick him out and produced a reciept for $186 with a $36 tip. He further tried establish that it was on the grounds of being a religious right to wear the hat but was unable to do this. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

They have made it very clear that they don't believe the law applies to them. And if it starts getting a bit close, then Daddy just pays off the prosecutor, like he does for himself. It may get a bit more difficult here, because I don't think Mueller is running for any office, so 'campaign donations' aren't an option. Seems like they have no idea what to do if they can't fuck you over by not paying their bill. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  14. There's video somewhere of someone trying to pull one off of his head in freefall and I think he finally gets it but his effort was to explain how your own neck is the leverage for breaking it off and a Go-Pro sitting a foot above your neck makes for a very poor leverage relationship. You can dig your chin into your chest to help but in the realistic scenario you're also fighting against whatever the camera is entangled with. Ironically, the mounts that have the worst snag hazards are the easiest to remove and the ones with smooth sides are entirely impossible to remove. So, this isn't to say that when it comes down to it you can't break it off but seriously, people, don't let that be your argument for a fuck-all attitude about putting a camera on your head. Edit: Yeah, 7 seconds at deployment altitude goes fast. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  15. I do not agree with the judge on that one at all. Can't deny service because someone thinks differently than you do. He didn't. He denied service because he was wearing a "MAGA" hat. He was told to remove the hat or leave. That hat expresses a political stance. One than many find 'deplorable.' Would you feel the same way about a place denying service to someone wearing, say, a Swastika shirt? (obviously, if the Nazi removed the shirt, he might no longer have a shirt on, so would fall under the 'no shirt' rule). That's a bit of a stretch. People wearing MAGA shirts didn't (YET, lol) incinerate several million people. Anyway, sounds like this guy had a shit lawyer and tried to plead it on the grounds of a religious belief leaving the judge no choice but to deny him because there were not any religious belief at hand. He states that this was no more than a petty slight. The bar also denied that they'd kicked him out and produced the receipt with tip from his visit. But anyway....nice try, Fox News. I still don't think the Don Jr. crowd was sophisticated enough to know what to do with that whole ordeal. Anyone with any chops in politics would know that they need to go straight to the FBI when they got that first email, these guys were still acting like they were helping out with another show for dad. 17. I think another issue on hand here is that if NK tones it down a bit then China can step in as their official protectorate. That then leaves NK with more options in the long run just as Syria falling into Russia's arms leaves them protected. So, on the block so far is China publicly offering their military support to Russia to protect against the US and both of them are snapping up buffer regions. 19. You're 100% wrong about this. If it were so easy you'd lose one every other jump you went on. They take way bigger hits in the course of a skydive and normal handling. They are not wrong. The gopro is pretty easy to intentionally brake off a helmet. Even more so when you have longer attachments. That's absolutely not something you want to depend on when you're in the middle of an entanglement at 2000ft. Do we really need to press this point sitting in front of our laptops? 21. Just keep your eyes open for older setups. A couple of DLSRs is nothing compared to what camera flyers used to jump with at a time when there were not as many soft opening canopies. That said, camera flying is not just another skydive even with a small action camera. THAT is the issue being missed more and more. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  22. Problem is that we keep 'looking at it' but doing absolutely nothing about it... or the 'other 80%' either. We do nothing. That is not good enough for the 'greatest country in the world' You mean "the most stubborn country int he world". "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  23. I think we're all as equally qualified to make accusations of mental health and its place in gun control as we are to defend against those accusations so we're pretty much all talking out of our asses. I only know that the professionals in the field don't think there's a way to use mental health evaluations as a predictor of someone's probability of committing a mass murder and I think we all can agree that there's no F'ing way we want the government getting involved in assessing the mental health of every American. 24. Yup, it's pretty much an after the fact evaluation. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
  25. Psychopath is a word that even professionals argue about the definition of. And there are several types of them. Very few people have no qualms about killing. Those who kill in the line of duty are no exception. At least if they kill up close and in person. Mass killers are very rarely psychopaths. But serials killers often are. Psychopaths do not want to be caught and they do not tend to kill themselves to avoid capture. It is far easier on the mind to kill a large number of people from afar, as in dropping a bomb on them from an airplane then it is to look them in the eye and watch them die. Infantry soldiers suffer from PTSD, bombardiers do not. Every one of us is capable of killing. Very few of us want to kill. I think we all me getting a bit too literal on our responses here. I think we can say that if someone kills a crowd of people in the context of our mass killing conversation then the person is fucked in the head.
