Read my posts again. I agree with you. This didn't need to happen. The ATF triggered a group who were willing to take innocent lives with them in suicide pacts. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Ack!! Supposed to be a "n't" on the end of that "was." The result was a lot of innocent people being killed. This wasn't necessary. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

They proved to the ATF that they would kill them. The ATF proved that they would go in with guns blazing. Both confirmed the fears held by the others, both were wrong. The result was a lot of innocent people being killed. This was necessary. Where are you confused? Do your nice friendly groups have 50 cals? Why? What are you talking about? I'm pretty sure the kids in there didn't shoot anyone. Even my mother (ATF employee) and close friend's father (ATF agent) agreed with that, as they will agree that this was improperly handled. Of course these guys weren't sweet and buttery, when put to the test they shot government officials and burned themselves alive. The issue is that it did not need to get to this point. Faber/Skylark, You obviously missed my sarcasm here. Kallend, funny but you know that if the Iraqi people tried him it would just be a trial by the masses. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Anyone have some links to Civil Liberty groups you donate to or work with or do you just get on dz.com to badmouth your own government? I do, for starters. http://www.sikhmediawatch.org/ to run by one of my closest friends, Preet Singh. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

How about years of torture, rape, and injustice like he imposed on his own citizens? I know people who were able to escape Iraq and get to the US. Find anyone from Iraq who left family there. They will give you the full accounts. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Yeah, I'm good with the broads. I give the girls at the office a smack on the ass to let them know when they're doing a good job. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

It lands sweet but I didn't get it until I saw someone hook turn their landing so that I would know what to do. Everyone thinks I'm cool now. As for the ZX, I see after looking at http://www.performancedesigns.com/vengeance.htm that I'm all wrong. When I got it, the material that is on the nose in front of each rib was described to me to be an air lock of some type. The ZX is basically my backup that I'm jumping again since my regular Tri 160 is in the shop. I'm exhausting the reasons it could open slow before I do something as drastic as a reline or a port on the slider. It's a moose but I'm having fun jumping it, especially now that I can fly it better than when I got it as my starter. I just don't like having to wrestle the risers one every opening. I think I'll go with a port on the slider and be done with it. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

I'm pretty sure it's because guys are better at just about everything. So, girls do the things that guys don't do so that they don't have competition. Sewing, making dinner, etc. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

Mine takes a long time and I'm wondering if the airlocks have anything to do with it. It's a Paraflite Turbo ZX 185. Another possibility is that it's mfg 97 and has about 350 jumps on it so it might be out of trim. The slider is what it came with. The ZP is still very slick. As for the packing, I do everything in the book to get it to open quick, all to no avail. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

I think he's saying that this is just a skydiver ring, not an Airborne ring. I think a ring like this detracts from the concept of why a ring is worn in the first place. For an Airborne ring you earn something, for a commemorative skydive ring all you have to do is jump long enough and then send in your money. Skydiving is a hobby, we're not curing cancer or taking the beach-head. It just shouldn't be a status symbol or proof of accomplishment. "I have ring, therefore I am." On the other hand jewelry is fun and expressive. I've seen some really interesting skydive jewelry. I think a ring could be very interesting and self expressive piece. I'm just wouldn't get one through USPA. Good grief, has anyone ever seen a design by committee? Come and look at my VMI class ring, it's an overworked disaster. No, I'm saying that besides that it's poorly constructed and written, quoting an interview from Cigar Avicionado, of all places, on a crappy website and that it's scaremongering garbage. Hold on, the site just gave me a pop-up to take an IQ test, I'll be right back. Read between the lines. Take the line "Franks didn’t speculate about how soon such an event might take place." You have to think, "Why was this written?" Well, first of all, Cigar Avicionado isn't the forum that Gen. Franks is going to use to broadcast his theory as to exactly when he thinks an attack may occur. This is a line that is deliberatly placed to get the reader to be afraid of what could be, OH MY GOD, an imminent attack!! Hold on, just got another popup, oooh, Matchmaker...yeah! Another line they could have added to the article is, "President Bush has not yet made a statement regarding these predictions." Very, suspicious, hmm? Makes you wonder if they're trying to hide something, no? I can see it now: Reporter says, "President Bush, would you care to comment on Gen. Frank's interview in Cigar Avicionado?" President Bush: "Uh...what?" Here's a fun game. Go back and read the article. This time, wherever it says terrorist attack replace the thought with "All US citizens turning into three headed monsters." Very fun. Ohh, at the bottom of the article there's a link for those Iraq's Most Wanted Playing cards!! Don't believe the hype. Here's a piece on snopes.com about how bullshit like this is written. http://www.snopes.com/inboxer/outrage/clinton.htm OUT. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

I wouldn't buy one. Partly because I don't wear jewelry like the pin necklace or my college class ring. I don't put identifiers on myself or on my car or lunchbox. I haven't even put in for the very few skydive patches and whatnot, I definitely wouldn't fork up for a ring. But there are a lot of people who I think would want a ring. I personally think it's pointless, it's not like a college diploma came with it or you have to have been in a service branch where you actually did something. What's even scarier is that someone might take a story from "newsmax.com" seriously. Edit: And I love the pop-ups. "Ann Coulter talking action figure!!" "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

What is the mohawk made of? Does much get torn off? We did a jump with a young lad in an ape suit. The girl in the door behind him got a mouth full of fur. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

That's cool advice, I was going to get a new rig so that I can have a 70 square foot reserve. I'll go full bore and make the reserve the same tie-dye as my jumpsuit. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher

The post in General Skydiving Discussions got me to thinking. It is good to look cool. For example. I'm not a very good skydiver so not many people jump with me. So, the only place I can show off is on the landing. That's why I always hook. Now everyone watches me land and they bring their video cameras. What are some other things I can do to look cool? Do you jump with a hook knife and have you used it
DJL replied to JoeyRamone's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Don't buy a plastic hook knife. By the time you need it, it will be brittle and will break. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher -
Bettina is correct. D.C. has the 3rd worst traffic in the country. "I encourage all awesome dangerous behavior." - Jeffro Fincher
