Zanggggg! (Low CReW downplane)
devildog replied to JohnnyMarko's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
would you send them to him with 39 jumps and on their first CRW jump for such a thing? Correct me if I'm wrong, but shouldn't your first CRW jump maybe be the basics? Shouldn't the first also not be a downplane, a downplane under 2500 feet at that? Granted, those are just recommendations and not BSRs what not, but so are jump numbers for cameras and wingsuits. Maybe its not such a bad idea to strap the gopro and WS on a new A license as long as they have an awesome instructor. Anyway, guess I'm in the minority on this one. So be it. What sort of mentor sends a guy into a downplane that low to the ground when the guy has 39 jumps? Seriously? Even if you are in full control as the mentor and the event goes off smoothly, what are you also teaching that guy about what he can and can't do? for someone with 39 jumps, this seems to me to have stupid written all over it You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions. -
Yup. I had been thinking the same thing for a while. I'm just waiting for the defense to claim Z was in the right with SYG and the judge tosses the case before it hits trial. You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.

Negative. It's 64 feet. (vacuum) distance = 1/2at^2 d = 1/2 * 32f/s/s * 2s^2 d = 64 feet You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions. -
Well, I should probably qualify that the person who told me embellishes at times, though they sounded shaken up & sincere at the time, and looking back, they probably weren't looking to give me a sworn statement. So, if the motors above, maybe it went through the fan and took it out? Or just some blades went flying as it came apart? Not sure, other than the fan had some sort of catastrophic failure and went to pieces according to their story. That's really all I can say as I don't know anything else. Agreed. Tell him when are you going for the course, that way it's on him to make it happen -- and if he *really* wants to go, he'll be there. You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.

unfortunately, these guys want you to subscribe to give you very much detail. It looks like they use machines to autodial and query people, the supplement with an online survey. Lots of massaging to make up for the bias in respondents. It *appears* they are targeting the country as a whole, not the registered voters or the likely voters. Historically, they are pretty accurate. They predicted the 2008 election far better than anyone else. You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.

Mitt is and has been leading Obama in the Rass polls http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/politics/obama_administration/daily_presidential_tracking_poll "In a hypothetical Election 2012 matchup, presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney earns 47% of the vote, while President Obama attracts support from 44%. Matchup results are updated daily at 9:30 a.m. " You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.

If you're talking Orlando, not sure about the motor part, but I know someone that works there (long time friends since middle school) and they were saying the fan actually detached and went flying through a bunch of stuff. Specifics on how that happened, I don't know. You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.

Bit of a tangent, but I'm always curious as to people's reactions to conversations like this. When you said, "You're gonna die." Did he just brush you off thereafter? Laugh and think you were kidding? Like I said, just curious. You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions. -
My first jump was AFF. Never did a tandem. I knew I'd love it, so I wanted as much control as I could for my first dive. So that being said, it's certainly a possibility for you. Course, the real answer is ask who you jumped with on whether or not they think you should go right to AFF :) You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.

Saw this the other day and was glad at least someone from the TSA was saying it's a bust, but still, if they were serious about security and not breaching your basic rights as a citizen, they'd stop the 3 year old strip searches and adopt a system like Israel's. What if the government rejects the Constitution?
devildog replied to devildog's topic in Speakers Corner
Well, I agree with you in that if by "the govt" he means the entire govt from the beginning to now, but I suspect he means the govt as in the one that is in power right now. And I bet he would argue that he's dead serious about saying the govt in power now never took the Constitution seriously, and he argues that case in the rest of the article. or... "It's important to note that their level of alcohol consumption was below the legal limit, and it worked on creative problems but not on working memory problems. According to Wiley, alcohol improves creative memory by decreasing working memory, which is the ability to remember one thing while you're thinking of something else."
