I'm not relying on them for news at all. I'm pointing out that they've nailed both sides of the news fence with something that's pretty obvious. Did you even watch the clip? Can you really defend any and all news sources deliberately skipping OVER RP and then subsequently saying, well, let's not count this and that guy out of the race yet (guys who won a whopping 60 something votes). Seriously. That's insane. Or, are you going to defend the clip where they joke about not wanting RP footage even though he is in the race, but wanting to get Sarah Palin footage who is definitely NOT in the race? I mean really. That's insane. Or, we could go back when Iowa had yet to be decided, and RP looked like he could actually win it (and almost did). The MSM (Fox too) practically lost their collective minds. Anyway, on my take, this isn't as much a thing against the MSM/Fox for not giving RP a fair shake, but rather the complete disservice the media does to our process. The RP just highlights the matter. Catherine Crier did an interview recently on PBS that more or less speaks to this (not RP, but the matter at large): http://www.pbs.org/wnet/tavissmiley/interviews/award-winning-tv-broadcaster-catherine-crier/?show=12625 Transcript at the bottom if you don't want to sit through it. In short, she's blasting both the right, left, and the media for destroying what this country use to be and was intended to be. You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.

Don't have a sig, but the last time I wanted another plinker that was fun to shoot I was thinking of going with a .22 mag and ended up with a .17HMR based off the strong recommendations by someone I know. Havent regretted it one bit. So, if you don't have one, I'd recommend getting one (Marlin 917 is a good line) You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.

Not really. You think 90 seconds in a debate wasn't deliberate? Can find stuff like this all day. http://www.thedailyshow.com/watch/mon-august-15-2011/indecision-2012---corn-polled-edition---ron-paul---the-top-tier You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.

RP's biggest problem is there is a 3 way, concerted effort between right, left, and the media to silence & ignore him. He didn't even get 90 seconds of air time on one debate. They pretend he can't get elected, and then when he almost wins Iowa (but doesnt) they play it up and create a self fulfilling prophecy with voters that might have picked him later. What has Obama done to curtail your individual freedom? Is it all about the healthcare law, or is there something else? National Defense Authorization Act ring a bell? How about HR 347? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2-morKF3QqI#! (Felony charges for free speech) You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.

Freedom is like that, and compared to the cheaper alternative, well worth the cost in the long run. In the state of Florida, providing there are no witnesses, you can shoot and KILL someone who is even unarmed? Dead men tell no tales. What part am I missing? If it goes to try, from what I understand, the litmus test is whether or not a reasonable person would have reasonable belief that you (the shooter) were in imminent danger of serious bodily injury or harm. Obviously a dead person can't contradict what you said, but if you're twice as big (literally) as the kid you shoot, I'm not sure how many reasonable people will say you felt threatened and in fear of your life, especially after chasing them down with a gun. Obamacare to cost $1.76 trillion over a decade, according to CBO.
devildog replied to Lefty's topic in Speakers Corner
Just out of curiosity, have you guys read the actual CBO report? Maybe its because I have to read it at work, but it clearly says: "CBO and JCT now estimate that the insurance coverage provisions of the ACA will have a net cost of just under $1.1 trillion over the 2012–2021 period—about $50 billion less than the agencies’ March 2011 estimate for that 10-year period" A rational and honest discussion would be where people actually read the paper haha But yes, the projected cost by the CBO (the same study we are talking about in this topic) says that the projected cost ARE LESS than what was previously estimated. The number 1,762B is the Gross expense (not the Net expense). Its the equivalent of saying Itunes for Apple cost 1.3Billion $ a year therefore Apple should drop Itunes. And why haven't anyone mentioned RomneyCare and its studies? The most extensive studies conducted on RomneyCare is by Jonathan Gruber. His studies are found here: http://www.nber.org/papers/w17168 The conclusion of that paper clearly states: The quality of care didn't suffer, the program cost is on par to the projection and would indicate that ObamaCare's projected cost has been exaggerated (yes, exaggerated) and the number of people without insurance is down significantly. RomneyCare has been implemented for six years now. So yes, point is: Double the cost my arse. The CBO study indicates that ACA ObamaCare is cheaper than the initial cost projections. Ah DZ Speaker's Corner. It never changes. Cheers! Shc Obama's initial claim that Obamacare was going to cost 900B (at most) was a gross cost promise. So when comparing, one would then compare today's CBO's gross projection w/Obama's previous gross cost promise. That's where the story is. Is that what your mother taught you, that you can use someone else's bad behavior as an excuse for your own bad behavior? I imagine its more of a "first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from the other person's eye" You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.

Hmmm, couldn't that also be breaking out and escaping? Or a wife's lover leaving after he hears the husband coming though the front door? I'll admit the odds are in favor of the other, but wouldn't it suck to finally escape the clutches of Jeffery Dalmer only to be held at gun point outside his house by the confused grandpa next door? Meanwhile, Jeffy's still pretty hungry. You say that like it's funny, and yet when one young guy did escape from Dahmer and make it out onto the street - naked - the cops took him back up to Dahmer's apartment where they were convinced by Dahmer that it was indeed a domestic spat, and left the guy with him to be eaten. That's not so funny. Lesson there is, if the cops dont believe you and are about to leave you with Hannibal, punch a cop in the face so you go to jail. Dropzone.com purchase (Caveat Emptor)
devildog replied to 43_echo's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Ah, that is too long to wait. A lot can happen in a month and the seller can easily think you might have caused the damage. In the future, YOU inspect it as soon as you open it. And get it to a rigger to inspect it before two weekends have passed. If during your inspection you find something out of order, email the seller that second (use email that way you have a record) and get it to a rigger to look at ASAP. After a month.... It is going to be difficult to prove it came that way. This was my first gut reaction. Assume that the seller honestly thought it was tip top, and was unaware of the damage, and now 6 weeks later the person he sold it too says, "Hey! This thing is messed up!" it's easy to see how an honest mistake on his part is now being viewed as a buyer trying to rip him off. (not that you are or aren't, but the situation isn't very cut and dry anymore) just my .02 You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions. -

Diet and exercise do wonders for mental health, that being said, you can always go see a therapist (not a psychiatrist). Look for ones that specialize in depression (they all have different areas of expertise) and explain your situation. Your first visit would just be an entry / assessment one anyway, so you wouldnt have to go into anything. That being said, most -- I imagine -- would be very comfortable not sending you to a psychiatrist for pills as long as you didn't try putting a gun to your head. And since it's a mental health treatment, confidentiality is always treated with the utmost importance. Hell, you might even go once or twice and get a new perspective on things and the "depression" diagnosis might go out the window. But, if its real chronic depression, it won't get better on its own. The flip side to that is, it is treatable :) You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.

You mean it fell when the Dems had control of the House and Senate and still hasn't recovered? Not very clever switching blame from White House to Capitol when your rant is deconstructed. What rant of mine was deconstructed? You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.

I'll bet the people at "The Onion" are banging their heads on their desks saying, "Why the hell didn't we think of that?" Seriously, Wyoming needs an aircraft carrier? Where would they park it? Classic example of delusions-of-grandeur that a little [piss-ant] State like Wyoming thinks it's the next world superpower. Crap, you can't even see Russia from Wyoming. Just how do you think they will have air superiority over Yellow Stone without one? You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.

Just out of curiosity for all the instructors out there, whats the likelihood of those gloves causing the student to miss that pvc pipe? I picked up some gloves shortly after I got my B (for high alt) and on the ground I was practicing feeling my hackey over and over and over just because I figured the whole thing would feel a lot different, especially in air and I wanted to be able to find it. I was just wondering if @ 18 jumps that would be a factor. You stop breathing for a few minutes and everyone jumps to conclusions.
