Seems the 'truth' is a slippery slope. WE can only tell part of the truth because of participants civil rights. We can't tell the real truth because although it was legal to order it, it was illegal to actually do it, so we 'excuse' the criminals after they die and cover it up for the others until they do? Blame it on the dead guys because their civil rights don't matter anymore? It wasn't really a crime, but it was illegal? McCoy gets fake medals for heroism in place of rewards for Project Norjak? This whole thing is growing into a pissing match for who can tell the biggest, bestest Jack in the Beanstalk story. The Cooper library looks like a logging clear-cut with all the failed books. Nobody would really care except for the continued effort to diffuse suspicion. A self-generated perpetual wheel of cover-up. Time to clear the air. And WHAT makes you think you would get a correct answer, even if he would attempt to address the conundrum? That's the key question to be asked after you discover that the plane WAS West of Portland on a circular path around the populated area as ordered by the Portland Tower.

Chances of chase planes seeing him were greatly reduced. It was important to get Duane to his specified drop area without having search parties surrounding him. The perceived dropzone had to be fabricated by reporting fake winds, crabbing into those winds, and covertly changing the actual position 15 miles West of where the search area was being planned. Kinda basic when you think about how you'd plan a perfect crime. Make 'em think he jumped into thick forest where he'd get tree'd and they'd have trouble searching a long ways away, when he really jumped close to target 15 miles away from the search area, in open pastureland, the money is buried in a milk can and he is long gone. I do not remember when the swap of the tie clasp was made for the BYU pin, but it happened quite a while after the fact, after much urging by me. You indicated 60's and 70's which is a little vague. Can you find out when they STOPPED making that particular style. Mac said he bought it new, so it was probably sitting in a Utah store and could have been sitting there forever. Wish I could be more helpful. I could research the written reports of the pin and those of the clasp and try to rough-in a date when the story changed, if anybody really gave a rat's arse. Well, Jo, I support you and I believe what you say when it is true. The problem is that you are not a good sleuth and you listen to and accept too much of the crap people tell you. You have a closed mind to the real truth and want to write your own story. The parts that are not true come across as lies and you loose all credibility. What I profess is not of my making and I have no goals of glory, financial or anything. It is strictly a morals issue. Accept what I claim and rest assured it is God's truth. You can see through it if you really want to. You can speak to people who might give you a simple, "yes", but the won't write you a book. Cooper books are for cover-up, not the truth. Sorry about messing up the format. Not intentional. Back to Criminology 101. These were what is known in the trade as "drops" or "plants". These apparently innocent items left behind are intentionally left to steer the investigation in a way the perpetrator wishes. The narrow black tie was to indicate a BYU student prank on Thanksgiving holiday vacation. The pin was to involve McCoy and 'da boys'. McCoy couldn't explain the pin and had to swap it out. The FBI supervisor got the job, so Mac bought a tie clasp new, himself, of a specific design to change the drop back to Weber. These are the facts as they happened, not idle speculation about phony evidence.
