Yeah. I'm thinking there are a lot of people here who would be stuck on "LOST" pushing the button... Just because. Why am I pushing the button? Because we will show you photos and streaming video of nekkid people "doing things" for $17.95 a month *sigh* Ken "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

The Purpose of DZ.com's Incidents Forum
Samurai136 replied to lifewithoutanet's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Eyewitness testimony is very unreliable. Especially when the best witness is dead and the next closest witness is likely 1/4 to 1/2 mile away in a skydiving incident. Things I learned on CSI. First theories are often biased and wrong. It takes time to interpret the physical evidence. It doesn't mean there's a conspiracy of silence. Ken "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken -

Here's a better link to the same wardrobe malfunction photo's. NSFW http://www.thatsjustnotright.com/movies/hires/image.html?http://thatsjustnotright.com/movies/hires/tarareid/ Poor girl edit: The scar is just terrible. Did a cosmetic surgeon do that or a tattoo shop? Hopefully she will find a boyfriend who is into scarification and all that Body modification stuff. Ken "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

For any emergency scenario you know you are low: Go straight to your reserve. I think you are putting the horse way ahead of the cart. Get the pocket slider off your Lotus and start getting some experience pulling at 2K, terminal velocity. This may require a good spot right over the top to land on the DZ. You're a D-license holder. I don't think the issue is 'finding' a different main that opens faster. You're over analysing the situation. If you do find a main that makes you feel comfortable "pulling at 2K chasing an AFF student" someday you will push the envelope further. You've already convinced yourself that you're "safe". When that happens you will have a two-out scenario very low which could be very very bad. You really should be visualizing "I am low. Go straight to my reserve." Sorry if this sounds like tough love. An e-bay bid? I'll give you $1000 for your gear. I doubt a reasonable bidder would go much higher than $2400-$2800. Maybe higher if everything is relatively new. Ken "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

petition for exemption to the 120 day reserve repack cycle denied
Samurai136 replied to jsaxton's topic in Gear and Rigging
I'm guessing the attitude being referred to is that U.S. Skydivers don't take care of their gear. The poor gear maintenance by some U.S. skydivers is tied to their attitude about their gear. Which is kind of what I was getting at earlier. Perhaps their attitude would change if the repack cycle was extended to 180 days. Perhaps it wouldn't. If the attitude some skydivers have about gear maintenance changed (improved), the argument you've presented against a 180 repack/inspection diminishes. It seems to me that they are two different issues and should be addressed as separate issues. No matter how long the repack cycle is skydivers should take their gear maintenance very seriously. Their life saving device is literally in their hands, not the rigger's. Riggers only see the equipment every 120 days or longer. I understand the argument for 120 days is based on 'safety'. Although I don't see there isn't any quantifiable degree of saftey that is related to the length of the repack cycle. Would a 100 day repack cycle be more safe than 120? Why? By how much? How much worse would a 130 day repack cycle be? Why? How much worse? It's hard to quantify because the answer is dependent on the attitude of the owner of the equipment. If they take care of their gear a 360 day repack cycle could be a totally reasonable proposition. Ken "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken -

Kind of like how Wuffo's think skydivers are insane. You can meet the nicest, coolest people who have unique tattoos or extreme body modifications.

It's not me. I don't even have a tattoo. Just some tattoo photos I found out on the web. I thought it was pretty innovative. Then I saw this: http://www.bmezine.com/service/samples/e2high/gentat4.jpg NSFW It's certain to offend people with more delicate sensiblities. But who knows. I voted for the Solo. It is the better image. The flock would be cool if you can get rid of the lens flare and silhouette. If you're going to use a photographic image on a personal business card, I think it should be you in the image and it should be obvious. Otherwise you could just as well use some stenciled silhouettes of birdmen to convey the meaning. Ken "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken
