What mistakes did this rigger make that would cause you to conclude they did not follow the manufacturer's instructions for packing your reserve and closing the container? 1. I cannot find the FAR that says they must be sewn together. Apparently there are at least two master riggers who have different opinions on this issue. 2. Rigger may have missed the documentation that CW03-01 service bulletin was performed on your equipment. But it does suggest they are aware of the FARs, service bulletins, and are performing those checks. Can you prove the rigger did not perform the CW03-01 test even though it was unnecessary? 3. The $10 fee is for a continuity check/ de-tangle/ re-assembly (assuming a cutaway). I wouldn't consider twisted brakelines to be a continuity error. Twisted brake lines on a main are a line trim issue, separate fee. Did you request a line trim check on your main? I'm suprised the rigger didn't try and sell/ build you new brake lines if they are that twisted. Consider the facts. You used your reserve and landed it.

Dude, seriously. Read the link to the Philadelphia Inquirer's article. The young woman is from a traditional Koren family. At the moment she was only worried about missing her flight she believed law enforcement would correctly confirm her claims. For an innocent law abiding person, explaining to your traditional Koren family why the government falsely arrested you. An honest law abiding person, falsely arrested, probably isn't socially equipped to contrive lies and deception. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

Please get your facts straight. http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/news/13504147.htm They were not intentionally packed as a practical joke or test of TSA security. Homemade stress balls are not a TSA prohibited item. The flour filled condoms were a gag gift. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

Wrong. It is not possible to achieve correct, consistent particle density. The air is being constantly recirculated. Nice try though. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

Uh, Wrong. The TSA's mission statement is: "The Transportation Security Administration protects the Nation's transportation systems to ensure freedom of movement for people and commerce." TSA's job is not to identify all objects passing through check points but to identify specific prohibited items. If they can't ID an item as prohibited, they are outside of their jurisdiction in passing unidentified objects on to local law enforcement. That is a violation of 4th amendment rights. To Quote Justice White in Katz vs. United States "The Government's duty to preserve the national security did not override the gurarantee that before government could invade the privacy of its citizens it must present to a neutral magistrate evidence sufficient to support issuance of a warrant authorizing that invasion of privacy. This protection was even more needed in ''national security cases'' than in cases of ''ordinary'' crime, the Justice continued, inasmuch as the tendency of government so often is to regard opponents of its policies as a threat and hence to tread in areas protected by the First Amendment as well as by the Fourth." Well, the United States is supposed to be a Constitutional Democracy. Two of the definitive characteristcs of a constitutional democracy are: 1.Constitutional Democracy is the antithesis of arbitrary rule and law enforcement. 2.Majority rule and minority Rights. Although "the majority rules," the fundamental rights of individuals in the minority are protected. The Journal of the American Medical Association did a study to determine the accuracy of drug testing facilities/ tests. They discovered that 27.7% of positive drug tests results were in fact false positives. If the drug test is arbitrarily wrong 1/3 to 1/4 of the time; that certainly suggests an arbitrary application of law. Citizens are entitled to a civil justice (monetary compensation) when their government/ Law enforcement is wrong and caused them harm. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

Apparently it is. http://www.philly.com/mld/philly/news/13504147.htm The joke was not on law enforcement. The flour filled condoms were a student joke at a women's college. The girls gave each other flour filled condoms to be used a stress relievers. Here's a qoute from her lawyer: The information the police had in front of them was more than enough to conclude they had a problem with their drug test which turned up a different drug each time they ran the test. Drugs are placed in condoms for mules to swallow and transport (and evade searches), not to carry around in suitcases to be searched. The Philadelphia Inquirer's article contains a lot more detail than the originally posted article. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

Very scary. That is a direct errosion of constitutional rights. Grumpy law enforcement oppressing innocent civilians. What protects citizens from bad law enforcement? Law suits. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

I think the relevant point you are missing is that "people like her" and "people like you" are actually the same law abiding class of individuals. It is scary that you view yourself as uniquely different from this woman as your constitutional rights are being taken away. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

As are you. Mark, we're going to need a photo of you holding up today's copy of The Herald and the Seattle Post before we can take you seriously. Otherwise you might be some guy named Ian. "Buttons aren't toys." - Trillian Ken

Only 1 DVD to trade?!?! You need to buy some more DVD's so you've at least got a selection to trade from. Otherwise it would be more like a library where you're swapping you're old porn for new porn. When I took the course it started Friday evening and by the following Wednesday they were sending you to... Harrisburg, Pa to take the written exam. To take the written exam you have to have your 20 signed off reserve repacks and your letter of reccomendation from a rigger that you are prepared for the written exam. To get the letter, Dave has skill/ certification cards/ checklists to be initialed by a course rigger as the student completes a skill. For example the first day or so is spent on Inspection/ packing of round parachutes and pilot rigs, continuity, etc. Then you move into packing sport reserves and there are several sewing classes on patching parachutes, finger trapping lines, etc. The days start early (7 or 8 am) and run late (9pm) so you have about 5 (14 hr) days to complete these tasks. The course is well run. There is a lecture/ demonstration every 2-4 hours then it's back to packing. The more book preparation you put in before the course the better. The course is performance oriented. The more experience packing sport mains you have the easier the process will be. When I took the course para-loft supplied each student with their own equipment/ tools they would need for the course which you could buy at the end of the course.
