Excellent Safety vid on canopy collision avoidance
PiLFy replied to verticalflyer's topic in Safety and Training
ANYTIME you have both canopies open at the same time (intentional or not) - all bets are off. Are not Bi-planes usually stable & perfectly landable? -
Moving across country, need to take my firearms with me
PiLFy replied to skydiver30960's topic in Speakers Corner
What would the FFLs charge, $100? If some idiot crashes into your car along the way? You could find yourself jammed up. There's lots of idiots between Virginia & Arizona... -
There are lots of places on the Net for this.

Excellent Safety vid on canopy collision avoidance

Thank You for this. A lot of useful info there. It does bring a question to mind. If entangled, & too low to chop. Where both jumpers are forced to land suspended by only one canopy. What are the odds of a reserve collapsing the main? The vids I've seen on Youtube show the reserve simply slipping into position behind the main. Is there a high risk of collapse? -
I've an instructor who is your height, & 107 pounds soaking wet. She'll fly circles around you in all four dimensions. Enjoy your skydive

Do you loosen your chest strap after opening?
PiLFy replied to skymama's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I loosen mine, but only about three inches or so. I was struggling w/landings. It was suggested that loosening the strap would help me w/that. I don't know enough to comment on improved flight characteristics. It helps me lean forward into a vertical attitude in the harness. That helps me bury the toggles during the flare (student canopies). I only do it after a full control check. Truth be told, my landings still suq. Loosening the strap has helped, though. -
Because we all know this is the place to go for medical advise...
PiLFy replied to guppie01's topic in The Bonfire
Did you go to an Ortho, or a regular GP? It sounds like you went to a GP. An Ortho Doc will tell you right then & there if there is any instability in your knee. An MRI will show if anything is torn. MRIs don't always see everything. I've never seen one of a knee. I hope everything goes well for you. -
Why is it so difficult to find boobies nowadays? (in the BF)

{ . }{ . } Better? -
OK, CLEARLY I know nothing about medical science, but does that make any sense? Wouldn't restricting your diet slow the pace of healing? Broken bones won't heal faster or stronger by overloading on calcium. You need a balanced diet. You can reduce overall calories due to being laid up. Damaged muscle tissue requires high protein for repairs.

From what you're describing. You definitely shouldn't jump this weekend. You could cause a more serious injury, & miss months. You could tear something bad enough to require surgery. I don't do gimped ,either. You gotta bite the bullet, sometimes. There are plenty of things you can do & learn @the DZ. A few weeks now could save your whole season.

Worse comes to worse, just pull the battery, no?

Bad link.

Hi, You're in competent hands @Elsinore. It's a very good DZ. I must say. When you come on here, & ask the community's advice? It seems that you're second-guessing your instructors. That's a bad idea. They are the ones who actually see what you're doing/not doing. They are the ones who will get you through this initial rough period. If you start trying to incorporate a little of this one's advice, & a little of that one's technique??? You're going to take longer to learn this, & probably get hurt. On top of this. You're a little person, correct? You have special needs that will also best be attended to by the people on-scene. Landing isn't rocket science, GP. You'll get it. My advice is not to make it harder on yourself by adding to the confusion. Learn the exercises for your ankle so it isn't more injury prone after you heal. Take advantage of the tunnel time while you wait. You'll be more prepared when you jump again in a few weeks.

And with him the last living memory of the war. It's a shame that there is no project to preserve these memories and stories. I'f I had the resources, I'd do it in a minute. PSST: http://www.theworldwar.org/s/110/new/index_community.aspx http://www.firstworldwar.com/ The 2nd site is loaded w/first-person accounts.

Yeah, definitely Cyberporn. The Moderators @this site have bailed me out a couple of times: http://www.majorgeeks.com/ Search the forums there, &/or post your question. I had one of those viruses a number of years back. It actually kept blocking me from downloading the application written to eradicate it. It was pretty frustrating. I eventually found a back door, but it took time. Sorry, I don't remember the steps. The easy thing to do, is just nuke the hard drive. Hopefully, you've backed up your data(?). Simply wipe the drive, & start anew. You'll overwrite the virus, & have a new system in a couple of hours. It can be a lot less aggravating... You could even use that time to have a talk w/your son about the Birds & the Bees (& the Turds).

You can make both parties happy, Kevin. My helmet fits nice & tight to my head. I can still stick a pinky between face/helmet earpiece, & flick the plugs out of my ears. I wear a Benny. So, the plugs aren't going anywhere until I remove the helmet. Once you're under canopy? Just reach in, & flick_flick. They'll be out.
