Because we all know this is the place to go for medical advise...
PiLFy replied to guppie01's topic in The Bonfire
Hi, W'dSkydiver is right. You should follow R.I.C.E (Rest/Ice/Compression/Elevation) for this. You should also take 600-800mg of Ibuprofen, three times a day. When your Ortho gets back from his vacation. He'll put you up on a table, & push/pull on your knee in certain ways. He'll be able to quickly isolate any instability, & tell you more. If your leg is giving out on you? It does sound like you tore a ligament. If the tear isn't too bad. You may be able to get by without surgery. On the bright side. You get out of doing any housework this weekend. R.I.C.E & Ibuprofen is the standard initial treatment for these types of injuries. I wish you the best of luck w/this. Now, put the butter on your skin before you get the hose again... -
It's some type of Hawk. The eyes & head shape aren't right for a Falcon.

Isn't it illegal to carry a gun on school grounds?
PiLFy replied to normiss's topic in Speakers Corner
On what grounds can a person carry a concealed weapon? Just curious, because in good olde England we cannot even carry a concealed pea-shooter without risk of arrest! In jolly olde England...British subjects were once required to carry small arms. These were necessary to fulfill another requirement of all loyal British subjects. They were required to intercede when they witnessed illegal activity, such as a robbery. It was recognized that the police couldn't be everywhere. It was the responsibility of all loyal subjects to help uphold the rule of law. Sadly, England is no longer so jolly. IMO, this is in no small part a reason why. You may hold a concealed-carry permit for sporting reasons: target shooting, hunting, etc... You may also hold one if you own a business, are responsible for carrying proceeds to the bank, or like uses. You may also get them if you work in security. The interpretations of our Second Amendment can vary greatly by state. In short, you have a right to defend yourself against lethal force. Further, you have a right to the means to do just that. Fear the government that fears your guns. You only disarm a populace for one reason. To control it. -
Hello Warpie... I don't know too much about this area of medicine. Are you really in a hurry to grow boobs? That's one of the side effects of GH therapy. I've never heard of patients being given GH & steroids for this. Although I've never worked in that area. I'd be very suspicious of these articles you mention. Care to PM me some links? My understanding is that, when abused. GH combined w/anabolic steroids can yield impressive results. Those results come @quite a price, though. Is a little temporary bulk worth your life? Used @prescribed levels, you're better off w/traditional weight training. Don't ask me. Ask the experts. Steroids & GH can actually cause joint pain. They can also cause your limbs to swell, but not get stronger. (I took a quick look for you on the 'Net). Remember Lyle Alzedo (sp?)? If my memory serves correctly. He was trying for a comeback. He started juicing in earnest. @that time, GH + steroids was the hot method. GH is systemic. It doesn't just target muscle tissue. He had a brain tumor that may have stayed too small to trouble him for the rest of his life. Once the GH hit it? It grew to inoperable size almost overnight. It was a while ago, but I think that's how it happened (& he died). Especially for a topic like this. You need to be careful where you're getting your info from. Look to credible medical sources, NOT body building sites. Personally, I would think very long & hard before taking these hormones. If I smelled cost-saving in the VA's not using this therapy? I think you know I'd say so. I don't think that's the case, here. I'm sorry if this is a bit jumbled. I'm pretty wasted-tired tonight.

I usually never see the movie if I've already read the book. Specifically for this reason. When I read well-written fiction. I paint elaborate imagery in my head. I only watched Dragon Tattoo because it was so cheap on Amazon. I knew this would most likely happen going in. Unfair? I'm doing them no harm.

A question about skydiving at high altitude
PiLFy replied to Mute5916's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Thats a fact. Sparky http://www.flickr.com/photos/53825637@N06/5418073778/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/53825637@N06/5418073826/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/53825637@N06/5418073870/ Those documents only show me he was on the project. It doesn't prove the rest to me. I wasn't really questioning you on this. I took you @your word. I'm just disappointed in him. When I read about his refusal to become involved in any repeat attempts. It seemed a matter of principle. Ah Well. In my mind. I'll think he did it to get some more cash for his grandchildren. That those efforts would have gone forward without him, anyway. That makes it more palatable. -
Robin Wright is not at all relative to Jennifer Aniston. Wright is a fantastic actress. Take a breath there, Carrie. I have no idea how she is as an actress. Not was I dissing Aniston. I looked up some of Wright's publicity shots. She's not how I see that character. It's as simple as that.

how do you safely open an e-mail attachment . . .

Open it at the library. Jeeze, Quaide. Are you still pissed off @your High School librarian? -
Robyn Wright has been cast as Erika. Same Difference. She's not how I picture Erika @all.

Therapist Treating Soldier for PTSD Stalks Him!

They are licensed by the state. There is a procedure for filing complaints against them with your state (probably under the Board of Health or Board of Health professions, etc). Not saying it is an effective process but it is there. No, Man...Lisbeth Salander. I much prefer her methods w/abusive therapists. -
I took Micki to look pretty much the way the Swedish character looked. I thought he'd be a bit heavier, & w/a beard. I had to chuckle as I read the passages where he was a man "Men wanted to be, & women wanted to be with." I think Larsson was trying to show the world his inner fantasy for himself. Erika I definitely pictured differently than the Swedish actress. Yes, including her having more sex appeal & sophistication. They cast Aniston in her role? Good grief. That's not right, either. It takes a lot more than facial powder, & far too much mascara to make Lisbeth. You read the book, & her descriptions. The Swedish actress came much closer than blondie. I think she also caught some of her fire. I'm glad you liked the movies. The first one was more than enough suffering for me. I'll stick w/the books.

"I am not trying to make this a SC type of discussion, but who keeps the therapists in line?" Lisbeth. -
You're sure she wins in the end, are you? Wouldn't that be an ass-kicker? A lengthy trilogy where the Heroine doesn't make it @the eleventh hour. Would make for an awfully successful series, though. Oh wait, it is awfully successful. That's all I can say. Happy Reading.

Not feelin it... She looks like a blond-haired, blue-eyed Hollywood tweenie TRYING to look like Lisbeth. She doesn't have the look right @all.

A question about skydiving at high altitude
PiLFy replied to Mute5916's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
$$$$ I don't think so. He's retired, pensioned, & well-entrenched in his belief system. My guess would be because Red Bull was bringing so much to the table on this one. W/RB's substantial resources, this was going to be a first class effort. He probably felt that w/the increased safety of today's equipment. Along w/the technical & financial resources being brought to bear on this. It was the right time & project to come on board with. Twas a pity the plug got pulled on it. Sadly, I'll never get the chance to do it myself. The video quality this time around would've been awesome!! In the late 90’s there was Project TAME sponsored by the Navy and funded by Fox. Kittinger was a consultant (name recognition) on the program. When Fox pulled the funding Kittinger was gone. Yes he was doing it for money. I am not at home at the moment. Later in the week I will try and remember to post some of the test plan to document this. Sparky Well...if that's a fact. Then, I guess so. I like it better my way, though. Don't ya think? -

"I know it is probably fake.." Ya think? Even if the board was made of reinforced titanium, & didn't break? His legs & back surely would have. It is a fun vid, though. I think it came out 2-3years ago.

Hi, I'm sorry to read of your trouble. I have herniated disks @L4 & L5. L3 is bulging, & a thoracic vertebrae also shifted. First, if I was going to submit to Chiropractics. It wouldn't be until at least five months post-injury. The disk(s) need time to heal. Without allowing the annulus time to mend. More gelatinous material may be squeezed out, worsening symptoms. You didn't mention Physical Therapy. This should have been your first stop. If you have them in Canada. I strongly encourage you to seek out a Physiatrist. They specialize in rehabilitative medicine. They will teach you the proper use of heat & ice. Too much heat, especially, can make your condition worse. They will ascertain which stretching & strengthening exercises are appropriate for your injury, & when. I realize some suggestions here were well-intentioned. If you start doing sit-ups & pelvic thrusts before you're ready? You'll do more damage. Everyone's injuries are different. What helped me the most? The first physical therapist (w/a 24yr career as lead PT on an NBA team) hurt me. His approach was dated & incorrect. The second team made all the difference. Mainly, it was proper stretching that took away my sciatica. In the beginning, I did those three times a day. They work. It's a beautiful thing

It's gotta be something in the water. Just look what happened to Arnold when he started drinking it.

A question about skydiving at high altitude
PiLFy replied to Mute5916's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
"...a man being sponsored by Red Bull, is being helped by Joe Kittinger..." That's surprising. Joey has stated he is often reached out to for help in replicating his famous dive, but he never responds. He stated he doesn't want to be involved if someone else dies (again) trying to do the jump. Something must have changed his mind. -
German pricing or Switzerland taxes?

You're reading this wrong. I never said I want to self import. PiLFy started this by naming the classifieds. This would be an option, if I had the chance to see that gear first.... Than he added his vision about me flying to Florida. There I said, I will not buy a rig there cause its too expensive. Than he wanted to know why there are so many Europeans using US-manufactured gear. So I explained. But I thing this topic is over now. It's NOT cheap and easy to import a gear. It's way cheaper to buy it here So any other opinion about freeflying and wingsuit flying with the same gear? Oh, here we go... Blame it on the bald guy.
