  2. "Just a visit at the VA hospital can remind all of us how good we have it." That's very true, my friend. "It's just that as I age it won't be so good." This is what I was thinking of. I'm farther down the road than you. You get there before you know it. I'm sorry I was a little short w/you in a previous thread. PM me any time.
  3. I have another manufacturer's model of this type gun. Do you need that many shots? Not usually, but it's great for pissing off the range master in Sporting Clays...
  4. Well, it took everyone a while to get going. I see ya'll got there, though ...
  5. I think what I respect about him most. Is he was brought up to live a life of leisure. He rejected that. He took on a monumental struggle, knowing it would get him killed. He knew he would be assassinated for it. Taylor Branch wrote a wonderful trilogy covering the civil rights struggle. All told, it's over 3K pages, & well worth the read.
  6. "I am a priority group 1 Veteran." I'm curious. Whaddat?
  7. Firstly are you sure the tire is bald? Many sports bike tires don't look to different to that on the shelf. Secondly improvisation really impresses me - I like seeing people think laterally. 1) After almost thirty years riding & wrenching my own? Yeah, I'm sure. 2) I respect self-reliance. That's a separate issue.
  8. "there is not a financial incentive so I can count on them not doing something just because it costs a lot." No, but you can count on them cutting corners to save money. I never slammed ALL VA Docs. That would be an asinine & inaccurate statement. I've worked w/a VA-trained MD (unimpressed), & knew a friend who had a simple knee surgery botched by them. It cost him a slot on a pro ball team. I have also known a few people who were thoroughly screwed over by the VA. One would have to be pretty deaf, dumb, & blind to defend a large percentage of their "Care."
  9. Fair Enough. I hadn't noticed his locale.
  10. Jeeze...an ounce of prevention is worth ... That bald tire should have been 86'd many miles ago.
  11. Hey BB, My $0.02? Skydiving is a awesome & unique sport. The sport attracts a ton of neat, dynamic people, & a few A_holes. The majority of jumpers are so nice. It makes the few sour apples stick out that much more. My home DZ is large. I've only met two Jackwagons out of everyone there. There are A_holes in any endeavor. If you focus on them? Your unhappiness will be guaranteed. Tell 'em off, & move on.
  12. Hush up, Noob. You don't have 900 jumps yet.

    need prayer

Hi Sherm, I've witnessed dozens of these surgeries. As well as helping to provide followup care for years afterward. It always amazes me how quickly these patients recover. This includes patients in their Seventies & Eighties. Being far younger & stronger. Your brother should recover beautifully. Barring complications, discharge criteria is usually around day five, post-op. Another few weeks, & you won't see any signs of it from a distance. Other than the need for a CABG. You didn't give any history on your brother. As a rule, some of these surgeons err on the side of caution. They tend to tell family members the worst case scenario. That way, they (surgeons) almost always come out smelling like roses after the surgery. It's a major surgery, no doubt. It's often trouble-free as well. I don't pray, either. You do have many well-wishes coming your way, though.
  14. That's funny because when I was at Quest lab on the 11th. They told me they will test but wont collect. I would have to go to my doctor for collection and my Doctor does not do it..Ill call them in the morning. Thanks for other suggestion I'm going to look into joining the AOPA This link is @the bottom of the hair testing page I sent you: https://secure.questdiagnostics.com/ViewsFlash/servlet/viewsflash?cmd=page&pollid=es!contact_0910 I know Quest does this testing. I don't know the particulars. Contact them. They'll walk you through it. I believe only certain locations are authorized to do it.
  15. http://www.questdiagnostics.com/employersolutions/hair_testing_es.html Hi Ozzy, I can't help you w/the other stuff. Here's how to get that hair test done, though.
  16. Simply send them an e-mail query. For the prices they're charging. I'm sure they'd be happy to feed a nibble.
  17. PiLFy, Just a clarification, the amount of wind noise you will hear under canopy only depends on the airspeed of the canopy, not the winds aloft. The wind noise would be the same flying in light winds as strong winds, because the canopy is carried along by the wind. In either case, slowing the canopy down by going to 1/2 brakes would bring the airspeed down and make it less noisy. From your last comment about the garbled static, it sounds more like the issue was a radio range issue than a not loud enough issue. Really??? Some days, when the wind is blowing pretty good. It's rather noisy under canopy. You can't hear a thing. On calmer days, You can hear the radio very well. If @all, they usually don't talk to me until I'm over the holding area. So, range isn't the issue. True, my hearing isn't what it once was. It's not that bad, though. I never took a survey, but it seems that a number of other students feel the same. Oh, & they're Motorola units.
  18. I'm saddened to read this. The guy was like Superman to me. I've read a few books about his exploits. He was a rare breed.
  19. Hola, I usually try not to talk politics @all. Other than being great @starting fights. It's a waste of time & energy. I only touched on it as it's germane to the topic. I realize there are hordes of Trolls here who love to argue ad nauseum about such things, & their home is in SC. Point taken.
  20. The volunteers, & other hangers on who show up @these things, didn't cost a thing. ???
  21. I have strong opinions on it, yes. I never implied "Expert" status. One doesn't have to be anywhere near an expert to know corruption & fraud is rampant. One would have to be a fool to not know government corruption is out of control in this country. True, I don't understand the nuances of funding vehicles I've never heard of. That point is irrelevant. It is what it is. I'll call it how I see it. I'll stick to wherever I please.
