Because the government isn't a huge fan of writing 1000 page long mea culpas Not in the absurd sense they had anything to do with it, but rather there were clearly significant intelligence breakdowns. Peace, love and hoppiness

I'm absolutely not cool with that. Just like I'm absolutely not cool with the driver taking nips off a flask while he is driving. But if that driver wants to smoke a little weed when he is at home why should anyone have the right to tell him what he can or can't do. Peace, love and hoppiness

Thomas Jefferson, John Woo, and the Robert's Court
scruffy replied to scruffy's topic in Speakers Corner
I don't share the sentiments of whoever drew this critique of the, to put it lightly, gun friendly decisions of the Robert's court. But I thought it was pretty funny. Peace, love and hoppiness -
I've done 4 jumps since I got off AFF. 2 were solos, 2 were coach jumps. The first solo was my "graduation solo" just to enjoy being in the air after having to meet dive flow TLOs. The second was because I was at a new DZ and I wanted to open high to orient myself to a very different landing area. Both were very relaxing and enjoyable. The two coach jumps that followed were so I could scratch off some yellow card requirements ( I still have a long way to go with that obviously, a little overwhelming when looking at a nearly empty card). I definitely got a lot more out of the coach jumps because I was able to get valuable feedback on where my belly flying skills (or lack thereof) stand. I now have some understanding of what controlling my fall rate is going to be like from now on, and I finally know what I look like in freefall now thanks to my coach wearing a camera (I'm way to broke to be paying for video), Even after I clear my exit and freefall skill requirements I will definitely be doing as many coach jumps as I can budget for simply for the feedback having a friend to jump with gives me. Plus having someone in the air to share the enjoyment of the sport with is just awesome. Peace, love and hoppiness

Another kid in hospital after doing some Pot
scruffy replied to turtlespeed's topic in Speakers Corner
Wait, I thought you were being facetious at first and just posting this to demonstrate how much of a waste of oxygen Nancy Grace is. Obviously dosing a kid is a horrible idea, just like with any psychoactive or psychotropic substance I'm going to argue that's a a no-go for the developing mind. But are you implying this kids life was actually in any danger from eating an old rice krispy treat with some pot in it? Peace, love and hoppiness -
I would just like to submit for the record that cheeze-it duoz are amazing. If I ever turn to burglarizing houses to subsidize my skydiving I wouldn't miss an opportunity to abscond away with a box of those either. Peace, love and hoppiness

Democrats show fear: Would rather campaign than do their job?
scruffy replied to turtlespeed's topic in Speakers Corner
One can draw parallels to the Republicans and leaving to campaign before a budget was finalized in 2006 when they lost control of the congress. There are just things some democrats do not be on the record right now if they expect to have a prayer of keeping their seat, and in the same position republicans are just as willing to go into CYA mode. One thing you can always count on from Washington, people lying like their jobs depend on it. Peace, love and hoppiness

Another kid in hospital after doing some Pot
scruffy replied to turtlespeed's topic in Speakers Corner
>> The kid almost died! So being "lethargic" and having "blood shot eyes" is fatal now? I should have gotten more sleep last night because I'm clearly putting my life in danger right now. Not saying these people are going to win parent of the year awards, but would Nancy Grace have been so pissed if a 4 year old would have gotten a hold of enough alcohol to cause slurred speech? Peace, love and hoppiness -
Apparently I need to read the law before posting...disregard Peace, love and hoppiness

Atheists, agnostics most knowledgeable about religion
scruffy replied to kallend's topic in Speakers Corner
It definitely is when you're denying science and reason to hold up your fortress of denial to protect your beliefs, but believe it or not there are actually people who believe in god who can transcend that. Peace, love and hoppiness -
Atheists, agnostics most knowledgeable about religion
scruffy replied to kallend's topic in Speakers Corner
This doesn't surprise me one bit. The U.S. isn't a very religious nation, it's a religious-affiliated nation. On my recent attempts to go to church in the past few years I found them to be more being financial advice and a political speaker box than anything resembling a serious discussion of faith. I've "misplaced" my cellphone into a toilet before. That was a shitty day. Peace, love and hoppiness -
It would be nice though. Who wouldn't take a beej for science I think my first hint this was a false study was the assertion every woman performs fellatio at some point in their lives. I'm no sociologist, but you could have fooled by by the girls I've met lately. Peace, love and hoppiness

Goddamn! Snopes to the rescue again. I was about to say, this sounds like the biggest case of correlation not implying causality I've ever heard. Peace, love and hoppiness

The cuts are actually in an area that I have no problem supporting with Medicare. The cuts are against the program medicare advantage which subsidizes seniors with private health insurance to get additional benefits. there's an interesting WSJ oped on it you can sheg out that makes the argument against the cuts better than I could. http://online.wsj.com/article/SB10001424052748704129204575505804034634066.html Peace, love and hoppiness

Democrats start with R now? Or are you saying the Democrats didn't just cut medicare by 500 billion over the next 10 years? Hmm... Peace, love and hoppiness
