  1. If brewdog spent as much time making beer that actually tasted good as they do inventing ways to make more outrageous high ABV swill, they might actually be a halfway decent brewery. I like to think of them as the Lindsay Lohan of breweries...huge publicity and visibility with very little substance to justify it. The high ABV beers were fun when DFH and Sam Adams were doing it, I really enjoyed the 120m IPA hop bomb from the former...and as soon as I could think of utopias from Sam Adams as actually a beer and not a bad sherry it might have justified the price. the difference between Brewdog and these breweries is that Brewdog lacks the pedigree of making good beers to begin with and then pushing it too the extreme. Anyone can use LN2 to push swill to a high ABV, and no level of clever marketing or creative presentation is going to make crappy beer worth 1,000 dollars Peace, love and hoppiness
  2. Yeah, unfortunately we have a legislature that feels the same way right now...well at least till after the elections. I'm curious if the dems will fight so hard to keep benefits flowing once they got their seats locked up for another 2 years at least. Peace, love and hoppiness
  3. I'm not disagreeing with her that the long term unemployment benefits will ~stimulate~ the economy, you give broke people money and they are going to spend it, probably mostly out of necessity, but also because being spend happy was probably a good reason they were broke to begin with. My hangup with her is why couldn't the Democrats do the sensible thing and use unspent money that exists for this very reason to pay for it and not just put another straw on the back of a pretty exhausted camel Peace, love and hoppiness
  4. Princess Pelosi calls unemployment benefits "stimulus," and all she had to do to get senate republicans to extend benefits willingly is to treat it as such and use some of the 400 billion unspent stimulus dollars to pay for it. Of course that would require the democrats giving up some of their hard earned pork dollars for their re-election coffers. So instead it's polarizing politics as usual on capitol hill Peace, love and hoppiness
  5. I'm not disagreeing, I'm just curious if there are 11 reasons the republicans will do better... Peace, love and hoppiness
  6. Now that i've figured out what those three numbers actually mean, my first weekend update /1/Beer! I don't think it's ~required~ for students to bring in beer for stuff, but since i found out what kissing tarmac feels like for the first time, bringing in a case to appease the beer gods is probably not a bad idea Peace, love and hoppiness
  7. The ACLU has always been somewhat of a pariah to conservatives because of its stance on not supporting individuals against state and local governments when these governments made laws that went against individuals "second amendment" rights. However, I, while a conservative and huge 2A supporter, can see why they wouldn't do so. As I understand the incorporation process (I'm not an attorney, so those with actual backgrounds feel free to adjust my shot group here) since the 2A wasn't incorporated until last month, following the constitution there was absolutely nothing stopping a state or local government (if the state constitution didn't prohibit it) completely banning all gun ownership in their jurisdiction. Since it was not an individual right from those governments it wouldn't be part of the ACLU's jurisprudence to support individuals in cases that were trying to limit infringements on those 2a cases, because the 2a didn't apply. I'm just really glad to see the ACLU is taking the Mcdonald ruling seriously and is actually doing it's job reflecting how the ruling has changed what the limits of state and local governments are now. I've always had hope for the ACLU being able to be look past the interest of it's lawyers and supporting the constitution as it is written, the Skokie case being the example I always use. Peace, love and hoppiness
  8. It's always fun when people resort to using a "legal" substance with highly suspect safety instead of being able to use an "illegal" substance which is widely accepted as safer than Tylenol. This never added up to me Peace, love and hoppiness
  9. I couldn't agree more. My attempts at finding more academic sources on it have been hampered time and time again as it seems academics such as yourself have been wary about putting out articles about this chemical with their name on it. Definitely puts up some red flags. Peace, love and hoppiness
  10. sure thing http://www.synchronium.net/2009/02/21/jwh-018-toxicology/ http://www.erowid.org/experiences/exp.php?ID=76486 http://scienceblogs.com/terrasig/2010/02/k2_spice_jwh018_marijuana.php Peace, love and hoppiness
  11. Whether it is illegal or not is immaterial. As a chemical analogue it is punishable under the UCMJ article 92 Peace, love and hoppiness
  12. Especially if your friend isn't familiar with cannabis, which is a quite large portion of those who have been using the drug, looking for that "legal" high (very similiar to when salvia-divinorum made it's entry to the American scene. They were probably operating under the premise that it was A legal B untestable and C safe A is, and has always been, a serious gray area B was true as no one was willing to spend the massive amount of money to develop a test for metabolites (until now apparently) and C is unknown, questionable, it's never a good idea to jump on the bandwagon of some thing being safe until there has been enough exposure and testing to verify that Peace, love and hoppiness
  13. Not trying to self identify here, but I have an academic interest in drug's effects on the mind The drug you are referring to is a synthetic cannabinoid known as JWH-018, JWH-012, JWH-200, etc. It is comparable, however much stronger, than THC (estimates it's about 50 times as potent.) It operates on the same CB-1 and CB-2 receptors as THC although in a slightly different manner (particularly with CB-2 if my memory serves me.) It was just recently scheduled I believe as it is an analogue to THC as a schedule 2 substance, and if I'm mistaken I believe it will soon be regardless. Customs has been seizing it as it is normally imported from southeast Asia Peace, love and hoppiness
  14. I'm really glad my government education didn't preclude me from getting that Peace, love and hoppiness
  15. Everyday I think getting home from work or school deserves a cold one. Some days having the energy to get out of bed deserves one too. Peace, love and hoppiness
  16. I really...really need to try a PtE...but now I hear they aren't even bottling them anymore because of people ebaying them. I don't know the validity of that but hey if it's on BA it must be true right? So my chances of getting that brew anytime in the near future went down to nearly nil. Sam Adams is so across the board with their beers, some are blatant drainpours-looking at you cranberry wit- and some are just utterly amazing for the quality of the brew. The noble pils is definitely one of the latter, the expert use and balance of the noble hops in that brew kept me coming back for more and more. Peace, love and hoppiness
  17. Just curious, what movies could someone go see if they were abstaining from giving money to sleazeballs? Peace, love and hoppiness
  18. scruffy

    Predators

I did indeed, and for me despite alluding to the first film pretty regularly it just didn't have the same vibe Also who knew aliens used the three ring release system. Peace, love and hoppiness
  19. scruffy

    Predators

The movie kinda sorta lived up to the hype, I guess. I didn't care for it, but that's neither here nor there. I just wanted to say whoever that was in my theater that screamed "ARCH!" at the beginning scene with the freefall part, you are my hero. Peace, love and hoppiness
  20. I like how this thread is shaping up, I'll add some favorites for weyerbacher that always get my hopheart beating Double Simcoe IPA Hops infusion And because a hophead can not live on IPAs alone (or can you?) Blithering Idiot I've only discovered Weyerbacher in the past year but it really is a freaking awesome brewery Peace, love and hoppiness
  21. cobra.... playing edward 40hands with cobra before my friends wedding last year ranks up with the best idea's i've ever had Peace, love and hoppiness
  22. The poster presented one (very topical) example of when being able to present a firearm obviously didn't end well, so I figured it was implied Peace, love and hoppiness
  23. When I carry, I don't think that the gun on my hip is going deter all crime, or get me out of any situation unscathed...I just think it can't hurt my chances. Peace, love and hoppiness
  24. Not that I haven't been enjoying this situation thoroughly, but Mr. Greene is making a pretty strong case for closed primaries. Open primaries are designed to keep candidates gravitating towards the middle if I understand the concept correctly, but there's really no safeguard from shenanigans like what's going on in SC right now. When I'm more qualified for the senate than a given candidate, things are not in good shape. Peace, love and hoppiness
  25. Be still my heart. I'm going to have to cross the mississippi river one of these days in the hopes of actually getting my hands on a PtE or perhaps even *swoon* a PtY Peace, love and hoppiness
