  1. Yes it did and probably will mean even more now b/c that was my grandmother's dying wish. She never wanted me to quit when she got sick,so to ease her mind I kinda 'white lied' about it and told her I was still going even after I quit b/c I knew it would hurt her and depress her.All she ever wanted was for me to go to college. So if I cant finish for me,maybe I can finish for her. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  2. I just left the college admissions office, which I havent been enrolled in for 2 yrs.I've just applied for enrollment for Fall 2007. I quit school when my grandmother was diagnosed with cancer and took a long sebatical to try to put my life back together after she passed away last June. But I think I might finally be ready to go back and finish what I started.Luckily, even with all the classes I quit and never withdrew from (resulting in an F) havent damaged my GPA to the point where it cant be fixed.Luckily I had a high 3.6 when everything when to shit,so the failures brought me down to a 2.5.BUT a 2.5 is still high enough to re-register and be accepted and I wont even be on probation. So I'm hoping to get my enrollment/registration papers in a week-10days.Now I'm in the process of getting all my financial aid stuff together.*fingers crossed that I can get some serious financial aid* *sigh* Am I really doing this? Am I really ready to go back? After talking to my hubby,he said he'd rather see me back in school than struggling to find a job.So atleast hes supportive.
  3. Sorry, bad phrasing on my part.I was referring to those speeding/fleeing from LEO.B/c it does seem to be a trend that the longer a chase continues, the more ballsy and reckless the speeder-in-question becomes, thus the more probable that someone will get hurt. Does that make more sense?
  4. I believe that the police have the right to use the PIT maneuver to stop a fleeing individual even though it may be seen as deadly force. The main objective of most law enforcement is the preservation of human life.If a speeder isnt apprehended whos to say he wont t-bone some bystander down the road? Yes, caution should always be used with any police tactics, but having a suspect turn around and sue is BS IMHO. Using the analogy of the previous poster, thats like saying "I'm going to sue the cop for waving a gun at me even though I was waving one around too." His actions were wrong and should be delt with accordingly, which I think the cop did. flame away
  5. Its the same way with the Nurse's State Board Exam. My mom was so anxious for weeks and then when her letter came in the mail she ran everyone out of the house so she could open it alone to find out if she got her RN liscense or not. When we heard the squeals of joy and crying coming from the house we kne it was safe to come back in. 6. Done. The speedometer on my 2003 Chevy Sliverado died several months ago.Its stuck on 120 constantly now.GMC wants $500+ to fix this increasingly common failure.Complaint has been filed with NHTS and I'm hoping enough people will bitch to get it recalled. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  7. I had a primary care physician until December when his office sent me a letter saying he was leaving private practice to work full time at this same chop shop...er uh hospital.I was instructed to find a new PCP.I just havent found a new doc accepting new patients that my insurance covers yet.Had I found one by now or if my former PCP hadnt quit his practice I wouldnt have waited as long as I did to seek treament and be in as much pain as I'm in.But I kept thinking it'd get better on its own and it didnt,it got worse, which is why I ended up in the ER in the middle of the night. So yeah, its my own fault. But I'll be finding a new PCP as soon as possible to work all this out. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  8. Yes,this hospital sucks ass.Everyone I know calls it Huntsville Malpractice Hospital, rather than its actual name, Huntsville Memorial Hospital...but then again, dont 'memorials' imply that someone died? I'm keeping tabs on how much ibuprophen I'm taking. My mom has been a nurse for close to 30yrs,so I'm just going by her suggestions. She said taking 3-4 ibuprophen 3-4X daily is about the same dosage I'd get from like RX Tylenol etc. But its not really helping much pain wise.I think I just keep taking it so that mentally I feel like I'm helping the pain or something. Hell, she asked me more questions than the ER doc did.He just said "where does it hurt?" and thats it. My mom was like "where are you hurting, what type of pain is it..aching,sharp,cramping etc.,on a scale of 1-10 with 1being a stubbed toe and 10 being a gunshot how bad is the pain, have you beeing coughing alot, are you nauseaus, are you light headed,do you have spots in front of your eyes or flashes of light, have you had heartburn, indigestion or acid reflux"...and on and on and on. Hopefully I'll find a PCP soon and then if possible get a recommendation to a chiro. But for now I'm living on a heatpack,IcyHot patches and a massage mat.I hate tequila and dont drink it at all anymore, but a margurita or 3 sure sounds good right now. Then I might still be hurting but just wouldnt give a shit. Any suggestions are definitely welcome. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  9. For the last 3weeks or so I've been having moderate to severe pain in my back that has gotten increasingly worse every few days to the point that I get shooting pain down my neck and my left arm and the last two fingers of my left hand go numb and/or have the "pins and needles" feeling.Yesterday morning around 3AM I just couldnt take it anymore.I couldnt breathe or move w/o pain and couldnt sleep at all.So my hubby took me to the ER. First the triage nurse says "oh your fingers are numb? well thats a sign of carpal tunnel" Ok, yeah it might be,but I've never heard of carpal tunnel causing pain in the whole arm plus neck and upper back. Then, she asks me to spell the names of my medication b/c she doesnt know how to spell them, even though none of them are hard to spell or pronounce and are all very common. So I get into the ER and sit for about an hour waiting on the doc even though we're the only ones in the ER.When he finally comes in,rather than reading my chart, he asks me to list all my meds to him again..ok no prob. But apparently this was an exercise in memory rather than an information thing b/c when I start telling him what I'm on he starts talking over me and I never finish. He doesnt seem to care or notice.I was told to slip into the funky hosptal gown on account of the doc would want to see my back.Well, not only didnt he touch my back at all, he didnt even look at it.Instead he just told me to tell him where it was hurting. As soon as I did he said "ok you have a pinched nerve in your neck and thats why your arm hurts.I dont know why your back is hurting, its probably something else"...ok,like what?I never get an answer. He says I need to follow up with a primary care physician to get an MRI done b/c it was late and he wasnt going to schedule one.I told him I was trying to find a new PCP b/c mine had quit private practice to work at the hospital. If he hadnt I would have gone to him weeks ago instead of waiting on a list of available doctors from my insurance and letting this get progressively more painful. In response he said "well I dont keep up with all the rumors". WTF? I just told you his office sent me a formal letter ending his practice and informing me to find a new one...where is the rumor comming in? The nurse comes back in and hands me 2 Tylenol.Ooo! yeah thats really gonna help, after I've told them I've been taking 800mg of ibuprophen 3-4X daily.I also get an injection of Toradol, which is a crappy nonsteriodal ainti-inflammatory that I've taken before. When I get home to reread all the drug facts on Toradol it says "dont take with asprin or ibuprophen". WTF? I told them I'd been taking a buttload of ibuprophen and then they give me something that shouldnt be taken with it?The pain never did subside and the injection left me really nauseaous. So I realize I wasted a trip to the ER and still need to find a new PCP to get any help.Yeah, I'm stupid. Anyone out there ever have experience with a pinched nerve in the neck or back? 12. I'm voting dental right now b/c the wisdom tooth that was bothering me a few weeks ago just from "growing pains" I now find out is chipped all the way to the center/nerve.yeah I was stupid and actually put my fingernail in it to see how bad it was and I thought I was gonna die when it scratched over the nerve. Yes, I'm stupid and I'm in pain. But also, I have to say joint pain of any kind is a bitch. If I have any advice for anyone its 'be kind to your knees b/c you'll miss them when they're gone!' My 3rd worst pain that I've personally experienced is a migraine headache."just a headache" my ass! You cant take any kind of light, sound, movement anything w/o pain! It feels like you eyes are full of sand and theres a crackhead with a jackhammer in your skull.Migraines are something I only wish on my worst enemies. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  13. Tami Carbone is awesome! She made me a custom pin necklace @ WFFC 03.I asked her to make it and she had it ready the very next day, even with all the busy stuff going on at the convention and working hard with Scotty to keep us all fed.Damn good craftsmanship..I've had it since '03 and it still looks brand new,no fading or freying or anything.

  16. Jeez guys! I didnt mean to start a heated debate over Concealed Carrying.I just wanted to post b/c I was happy that something I had worked hard to accomplish had finally paid off.Thats why this started in the Bonfire.I was hoping it wouldnt end up here. Everybody chill and go have a beer. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  17. No you shouldnt be concerned unless you're paranoid or a criminal. I take serious offense at this entire statement. You should not be concerned b/c someone whos Bipolar and on medication finally got HER CHL.I was "finally" glad b/c it took 5months to get it rather than the usual 60days,NOT b/c I'm Bipolar and finally get to carry a gun.As for my screen name, I've had it for years and long before I was ever diagnosed Bipolar. If you really are that paranoid about the criteria for the TX CHL and worried about 'crazy people' getting access to CHLs, then why dont you look up the CHL criteria. Its easily found on the DPS website.Try looking under GC 411.172(d)(e) and (f).Which describes fully the eligibility for those with psychiatric disorders, including the fact that they require signed documentation from a doctor to the effect that they are able to use sound judgement in the use, storage and carrying of a firearm.(which my doc DID).Also, these applications go up before a Medical Advisory Board which consists of more doctors and lawyers etc. who subpoena medical records and statements from the doctor and then rule on the applications eligibility. So if not only my doctor, but several other doctors, lawyers and govt officials on the MAB had sufficient evidence to approve and issue my CHL,then I fail to see why you should have a problem with it. As I stated earlier, those who make these remarks are uneducated in psychiatric disorders. We can function normally in society just as those w/o such aflictions..It is simply a mood disorder caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain.Meds help fix this imbalance.Just like the sugar/insulin imbalance in diabetics. Its fixed with medication to balance it out..So, if people insist on joking or making off comments about a psychiatric disorder, please atleast be knowlegeable of what your bashing, otherwise,it makes you look like an uneducated moron. I personally would be more concerned at the lack of education and intelligence of some people in society who like to label others rather than one specific female who has a CHL. Dont worry, I wont shoot you...its not worth the ammo.Plus, if I went around shooting everyone who is misinformed, uneducated,or under intelligent I'd be spending alot of time reloading ammo. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  18. To PrarieDoug: The threat of violence. But I ALSO want to carry simply b/c it is my constitutional RIGHT to do so.period. Zipp0: Neither of those bother me..I actually like the Astros.BUT what does bother me is when talking about guns everyone assuming I'm a HE when I'm a SHE. What bothers me, are the uneducated people out there who believe people aflicted with Bipolar Disorder cannot function as the rest of society. It is simply a mood disorder caused by a chemical imbalance in the brain.Meds help fix this. The situation you described is more typical of a paranoid schizophrenic. So, if people insist on joking about a psychiatric disorder, please atleast be knowlegeable of what your bashing, otherwise,it makes you look like an uneducated moron.
  19. My TX Concealed Handgun License FINALLY arrived today! I took the friggin' CHL course back in Aug and had all my stuff mailed in by the first of Sept. Two months go by and they tell me my app has been sent up for Medical Review Board b/c I'm Bipolar and take meds. Then tons of paperwork for me and my doc is finally sent back and my license was approved and mailed Dec 20.It just now got here today! Thank god my doc is super cool and was all for me having the CHL.He spent alot of time and paperwork advocating this for me.
  20. My cat used to bring me 'presents' like that.Once, when I was sick, she brought me a whole blackbird feathers and all. Then we realized she hadnt killed it, just stunned it/wounded it.So it got up and started flapping around the whole f***ing house...feathers and blood everywhere.Yeah that was fun to clean up. Then our dog,who apparently takes the whole 'dogs love bones' thing way too seriously,b/c she'll go into the next door neighbors pasture and bring back whole legs, shoulders,heads..you name it, of dead cows.My parents' yard looks like a cow cemetary! Occasionally she'll bring up dead rabbits and skunk pelts.Yuck! But, funnier still was when she brought up a trash bag w/trophy antlers in it! We thought,'well maybe it fell outta someones truck on the FM road and she just brought it back'...nope! She went into our other next door neighbor's garage and stole it! I told my dad 'see? you dont have to go hunting,Gypsy will bring 'em in already tagged, bagged and ready to mount. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  21. LOL! After a hard landing and some complications I had to get full prosthetic knee braces. My hubby started calling me The Bionic Woman.I thought it was just b/c of all the hardware of the knee braces, but I guess he pegged it more correctly than I thought. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
  22. The age req. for tobacco purchasers has been 18 in the US for awhile. But, as of Jan.1 the TX excise tax on cigarettes went up $1 per pack.So now the average pack of cigs cost about $4.50ish here. Oh well, I was planning on quitting anyway.*shrug* "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
