Has anyone here proved retaliation for going on disability?
moodyskydiver replied to dweeb's topic in Speakers Corner
I would suggest,if you're in the US to call the EEOC and tell them the situation. If their investigation adds up to a retaliatory termination then they'll definitely do something about it.If you truely have a case, they'll take care of it and you have no legal fees. just my $.02 -
Amen! I'm a natural DDD and would love a reduction for all the same reasons listed above. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

I havent forgotten.I said "other accessories" and mentioned a purse in the original post.Just havent gotten any feedback on them yet.I've looked at alot of CC purses and woohoo are they expensive! The cheapest I saw was like $200.For that price I'll just shove the darn thing in my waistband. As for everyone's advice for the leather holster I already have. Its not just a little tight its really tight.I almost cant get it all the way in the holster without shoving it in there pretty hard.Another prob with it is that the guy (not used to making stuff for guns..hes a saddle maker after all) put the clip on the back, but all the way through to where the backside of the clip is exposed on the inside,so,with as tight as the fit is I'd scratch the shit out of my gun using it as is.I think I'm going to have my hubby take it up to his unit and have one of the craftshop guys restitch it so its not as tight and put something over that clip. feedback is appreciated! *pssttt* I'm a chick. And on top of that, I'm not exactly a petite chick at that.I'm rather 'fluffy' even at 5'7". My guy friends keep telling me to just stick my weapon right between my 40DDDs and not worry about it b/c no one will be looking at the gun....but seriously, even though I'm not thin I'm still trying to find ways to conceal. In the winter I can do it fairly easily b/c I wear hoodies w/big pouches in the front (good for a smaller weapon like my Makarov 9X18).I also have a big over-sized Army jacket that I wear in the winter. Plus I normally wear big baggy tshirts.I just need to learn the art of concealing. I agree with you guys on the fact that sports pants are a PIA to find a good holster for.I've tried out a few holsters w/1911s or even an XD in them at gun stores and they sag waaaay low and its VERY obvious that you're carrying...it makes me look like I have a tail! Although I have concealed my XD, Makarov and 1911 under a bagy tshirt and PJ pants while outside my apt late at night.I'll just have to start wearing jeans more often. And even in the middle of the TX heat, I still always wear pants if I'm out in public.I look like shit in shorts. So not a problem there. I'd like to avoid a belly band simply b/c I'm a real hot natured person and dont like clothing real closed to my skin..I get hot real easily. But I am looking for an IWB holster. If it helps you guys with some ideas, I'm a right-side standard draw. From using someone's earlier refrence, I'd say I carry at about 4-5o'clock position on my body if 6 is directly in the small of the back.Although the holster my dad got me is leather, I'd prefer non-leather. I know I know! I'm getting picky. I'm just trying to give a better picture of what I'm looking for.I have 3 guns stores,an AcademySports/Outdoors store, and 2 Gander Mnt. Outdoor stores near me that I can shop around, not including the internet. Like I said in the beginning, I'm not just looking for a CC holster for my 1911.I'm looking for one for my Springfield XD .45GAP (4" barrel) too.I'm not worried about concealing the Makarov, its fairly petite and easy to conceal. One of these days I'll have the $$$ for a compact carry 1911 (para-ordinance has a SWEET one right now but its almost $1k.) But for now I'm sticking with my standard 5"barrel 1911A1. Thanks for the tips so far! Keep 'em comming!

Army sergeant refuses third Iraq tour
moodyskydiver replied to ChasingBlueSky's topic in Speakers Corner
Sorry, I'm in agreement that hes contractually obligated.Whether he wants to go back or not is moot.He signed the contract and needs to live up to it.Suck it up cupcake! My best friend has served like 5 tours since Operation Iraqi Freedom has kicked off and shes only 24 years old.She was deployed to the sand box damn near straight out of her MOS training in 2002/2003.She doesnt have a problem with it nor does she try to renig on her contract when she doesnt really feel like going.I'm proud of her and worry for her every time she goes but I understand that its her decision and obligation. If you want to talk to her she goes by "outlawhottie" here on DZ.com. -
So after waiting impatiently for the decision on my CHL I called the state and asked about my status. My call was returned today saying that my CHL was approved and mailed out Dec 20.With all the holiday postal traffic its not here yet, which isnt a surprise but I'm expecting it soon. So, now I need some good accessories, specifically a holster. My dad had a friend of his whos a saddle maker, make me a clip holster for my 1911 but,b/c he used my dad's 1911 as a model and not mine its not quite a perfect fit.Its too tight and has a tendancy to come off when I try to pull my weapon out, leaving me holding a gun with a holster attached in my hand. It can and will be fixed, but I'd like to keep my options open. I dont want an ankle or shoulder holster.I'm looking for something fairly simple and not overly expensive.I'd like to carry either on my hip or a little further back, not exactly small-of-the-back,but more like off centered in back.(I know the controversy about carrying on the small of the back so please dont go into that.) I dont wear a belt,so I'm trying to find a holster with a waistband clip. Also, I wear very casual clothes...tshirt and jeans/running pants mostly. So I want as low profile as possible for concealability. I'm looking for a holster for a Norinco 1911A1 .45ACP and a Springfield XD .45GAP Service Model (4inch barrel). So where do I start looking and what do you personally recommend?I'm not nessairly just looking for a holster either.Clothing and other accessories (maybe a purse?) are appreciated too. Thanks! I agree.Like I said earlier, I like my XD but I LOVE my 1911. If it werent for its weight I'd definitely CC it.Right now I'm torn or which I want to carry. The XD has weight/size going for it as a good CCW but I'm alot more familiar/accurate/comfortable with my 1911 just b/c I've had it longer and put more rounds through it. I'm not a fan of the Glock b/c after trying out several different models, none of them fit my hand. The grip just isnt angled enough to be comfortable for me. I like the XD.It performs well,is very easy to field strip and is just a nice little gun.I had a Springfield XD .40 Service Model (4inch barrel). It was a nice gun, very accurate and performed well. All the XD models have a tight, almost competition barrel so if you're a reloader (I/my hubby are) then you really have to make sure you have a good sizing die etc. so the reloads dont jam. I dont have the .40 anymore but I now have a Springfield XD .45GAP and I really enjoy it.It fits my hand better than the .40 did b/c the .40 was chunky around the grip, being a DS magazine whereas the .45GAP is a SS magazine.I doubt most guys would have the problem I did b/c I have smallish hands and thus the grip size is important to me.My only peeve about the .45GAP is that it has a loooong trigger pull. But, that can be easily fixed with a trip to the gunsmith. One of the downsides to the GAP though is the availability of ammo. Its still relatively 'new' to the mainstream and so not as many retailers carry the GAP ammo. But, if you're a reloader its not as big a problem.Just pick up your brass and do it yourself. The biggest peeve I have about the XD is that the springs in the magazine are hard enough you could put them on a truck! It takes alot of effort (even for my hubby) to load the magazines.Even after about 1K rounds+ they're still real hard.Ofcourse, with time the more rounds you put through it the easier they become to load. Its just a PIA in the beginning. Although I enjoy the XD GAP I'm still a 1911 fan.I'm still waiting on my CC permit from the state so I'm still debating which I'd carry. As much as I like my XD, I LOVE my Norinco 1911A1 .45ACP even if it might be a bit harder to conceal. There are a few maunfactures out there that are putting the GAP on a 1911 frame, which perks my interest.I know Para Ordinance is one of them.Their "carry GAP" puts the GAP on a 1911 DA w/a 3inch barrel. If I had the $ I'd probably pick one up. ok, theres my $.02

This year mom-in-law gave us a "misting fountain".Some stupid little table top center peice thing thats supposed to "set the mood" with mist floating out of it and soft different colored lights.I guess its like a modern day lava lamp LOL. (I'd rather have the lava lamp than this thing). I dont know what she was thinking b/c we have 5 cats and a dog.Anything resembling a bowl filled with water is going end up either something the animals will drink out of,knock over and break or play in.Or maybe she was just trying to give the pets a sauna hell I dont know. Are you willing to try new foods or are you stubborn?
moodyskydiver replied to Twoply's topic in The Bonfire
I'll try almost anything once. Whats cool is that, at one of my and my husbands fav Chinese food restaurants the waiters/waitresses will come up sometimes and give you this big plate of food and say "here try this on the house, its something new on our menu." Or, if we're trying to decide what to order and they suggest something we've never tried, they'll do the same thing...just bring us some of something we've never tried on the house in addition to whatever we order.Just about every other or every 3rd time we've gone in they've done this. Its really cool and it keeps us coming back just to try new stuff. This is just too funny.Women have been shaving and waxing and tweezing 'down there' for years. Then a guy does it and gets a little nick on his nuts and here comes the waambulance! Go have a Brazilan wax and then come talk to me about pain in the crotch. (yes I'm entirely kidding...nicks around the 'play land' hurt. But its the price you pay for the play) "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

Both Christmas Eve and Day.We'd have a big family get-together w/the grandparents and such on Eve and exchange gifts and then my parents and I/my sister would have our own gift exchange and the "Santa gifts" on Xmas Day. This is the first year I wont be with my family for Xmas b/c hubby has to work both days.So we'll have to wait until his next days off to go up and exchange gifts with my family. His parents came by today and exchanged their gifts/picked up our gifts to my sister-in-law's family and will probably drop back by after they leave my sister-in-law's place and drop off gifts from them. But my husband and I will be exchanging some to each other on both days as well.I'll be home alone for all of Xmas Eve and wont see the hubby til late Xmas night. Well, here is my $.02 after having similar trouble with neighbors' dogs getting on our property and chasing our horses and fighting with our dog.We have 76 acres in the country, 25 horses and 1 dog. First, call the owner and warn them to keep their dogs away/off of your property.Since she is the owner of the dogs she is liable for the damages the dogs caused to your fence and your daughter's pet.You can and should make it clear to her that she has to pay for those damages. If she wont..seek further legal action. Second, put up "no trespassing" signs on your property Third, call animal control and/or your local law enforcement and get this latest incident in writing to establish a paper trail of the dogs' behavior in case it happens again. The owners are liable for any damage done to your property and livestock.Other domestic pets are included as being 'property'.More than likely the LEOs will talk to your aunt and warn her to keep her dogs at bay.Do this EVERY time the dogs harass your animals or come onto your property...continuity of the paper trail. After X number of complaints of the dogs' dangerous behavior the LEOs and animal control are obligated to investigate and or seize the animals and fine the owner. Fourth, if you live in the country and thus can discharge firearms legally outside the city limits, I would get a good shotgun with some birdshot in it.It will definitely get the dogs' attention but wont do them any lasting harm.If that doesnt hinder them and the behavior continues, then get a good handgun (if they're that close in proxemity) or rifle and kill them.period. I dont know how things work in your state, but in TX any tresspasser (human) or animal that is on your property w/o permission and is damaging, stealing etc. your property you have the right to use force and or/deadly force depending on the situation to protect your property and your/your family's life...keep in mind, behavior like this has a way of escalating...what if they attack your daughter next? The local dogs who were chasing our mares and trying to mess with their foals ended up with a bullet in them.Yes,they were probably someone's pet,but our livestock and their vet bills (if mauled) are expensive and worth more than the mutt's life if their owner doesnt keep them at home and off of our property. All of our neighbors have a standing agreement that if any of their dogs or ours end up on someone else's property and damages or tries to damage their livestock then each person has full permission from the others to shoot them.It sounds cruel, but being a country family, you learn quick how expensive livestock, vet bills and fence repair adds up to.Its not that hard to train a dog to stay on your own property,so if you want to keep your pet, train them to stay put. sorry if my advice and views sound harsh, but thats my $.02 from personal experience.good luck. *Warning*useless whine post... My in-laws are dropping in tomorrow to do an early Christmas gift exchange thing and then head to my sister-in-law's place for more of the same.So they're taking our gifts to my sister-in-law's family with them b/c we cant make it down there this year. My mom keeps calling to bitch that we wont be coming up for Christmas Eve/Day with them b/c hubby has to work on Xmas Eve and Xmas Day.[sarcasm]OMG! I'm breaking the family tradition and wont be there for the holiday for the first time in my whole life! The world is going to stop any minute![/sarcasm] "Why cant I come alone and leave him there?" um..duh,b/c I want to spend Xmas with him too and dont want him to spend the holiday alone. Today,I've cleaned the house, made 3 batches of cookies, gift wrapped almost everything not nailed down it seems like and need to start planning dinner soon, but I still have 20+ gifts to wrap and my motivation ran out the door and down the street a while ago.I sooo need some caffeine or chocolate or ginsing or hmmm...where'd that liquor cabinet thread go... ugh! someone send me some motivation before I crash head first into the wrapping paper! I was born and raised in Texas and I dont know about anyone else, but common courtesy was a must growing up. If I didnt respect my elders or those of authority then I'd get in trouble with the parents.Proper manners are a reflection of you as a person and of your upbringing and thus on your parents. So dont disrespect your parents with poor manners. If I had kids I'd raise them the same way.It doesnt matter how old someone is I call everyone Sir or Ma'am.My husband is the same,he calls me Ma'am and I'm 13yrs his junior. Its just how we were brought up. Its just a common courtesy as are 'please' and 'thank you' or calling someone you dont know well Mr. or Mrs./Miss instead of using their first name. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

I've been in your shoes.I dropped out of college last year and my parents are still pissed that I havent gone back yet.My parents are pissed at me now b/c I'm not coming home for Xmas b/c my hubby has to work. Basically it comes down to this, its your life and you have to live it how you see fit.You cant make everyone happy 100% of the time and still be happy with yourself too.So, suck it up and tell them to get over it.Its your life.
