So my hubby (loco.cervesa) and I decided that after 3 weeks of frustration with my old laptop HD we were gonna have some fun and take it to the range for a slow and painful death now that my new HD arrived. We also got a few other HDs from a friend of ours who owns a comp repair store. This video was shot from about 15 yards.I only shot the first HD (my lappie HD) the rest were shot with by my hubby. We were using his Ruger Vaquiro revolver w/a 7.5inch barrel (hubby's gun) and my Springfield GI .45 Champion w/a 4inch barrel.I was shooting 255gr Round Flat Nose and he was shooting 300gr RFN plus some of his cowboy action shooting rounds w/black powder accidentally got into the mix as well (*cough hack cant breathe!* I hate all the detrius/smoke from those black powders.) The video is a little shakey b/c we didnt have a tripod handy, but the zoom on that little camera was kick ass...felt like you were right there infront of the target. enjoy! and let me know what you guys think. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E78wYlgxFCE "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

I agree 100% w/Billy. If youre not an experienced trainer then its going to be tough on you and the horse. The Books and DVDs and clinics can only help you so much before you have to rely on instinct and trust in yourself, your ability and knowledge and the horse. Ditto here.We start halter training very young to get them used to tack a little at a time and get used to having something on them so that when we do go to break them they're not spooked by having something on their head/face like a bridle. But we usually dont start trying to saddle break them until they're atleast 3yrs or with some 4yr.Its true that some horses, especially smaller breeds like Arabians dont have their bone structure fully formed until after they're 2yrs which is another reason we wait a bit longer to try to train them for riding. But a round pen is still a favorite for us b/c even when they're younger you can work with them gradually and get them used to commands, some tack and being handled more.Theres not a horse on our place that my dad cant walk up to and handle from nose to hoof and put a halter on and lead (including the young ones that arent even a yr old and we have 27horses,so thats saying something),which makes it easier in the long run when you're handling them alot in training. youve gotten some great advice in this thread.good luck and I hope it works out for both of you.

My family owns 27 horses from age 20yrs to 2months.Trust me, round pens are your friend! I know this has already been mentioned, but check out Monty Roberts' books and training DVDs.Also look into Clinton Anderson's "Downunder Horsemanship" books/TV series/DVDs.Both are excellent sources of info for all your training tips.We went to one of Clinton Anderson's Horsmanship Clinics and one of Monty Roberts' training seminars last yr and it was amazing! Feel free to PM me if you still need some help.

Bryan, I am Type II Bipolar but have studied the medications and treatments for Type I and rapid cycling Bipolar Disorder aswell. Most of the medications are the same, but just in different dosages depending on if you're Type I or II.You name it and I've probably been on it as far as RXs goes.I've taken Effexor,Lamictal and Klonopin before,as well as about a dozen others. Feel free to PM me if you have any questions. Also, if you want to learn more about BP go get An Unquiet Mind by Dr. Kay Redfield Jamison.A VERY good book on first hand experience of BP. Well, I waited for over an hour and she didnt show up for our meeting.Maybe she forgot or something got lost in translation. I guess this gives me more time to learn how to teach if she decides to try another meeting. But one thing I did learn is that our library has a free literacy program that teaches you how to tutor/teach others English. The next class is in July though. So maybe thats something to look in to. Thanks again for the info guys.
-
Thanks guys! I'm on my way to do a bit of research before our session.I think she can read some English but I guess we'll find out soon enough.I thought about music too so I'm taking my iPod b/c it has music and audio books on it. Wish me luck and thanks again everyone! "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

Luckily we're meeting at a public library so I'm hoping they might have some resources I could use for teaching ESL.I tried a book store but they only had dictionaries translated from english to other languages and vice versa. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

So I met the cutest little Vietnamese lady a few weeks ago.She said that I have a very soft voice that was easy for her to understand and now shes asked me to teach her English.I know zero Vietnamese even though she speaks very well in English IMHO.I can understand her easily if I pay attention. So now b/c shes so nice I agreed to help her with her English but I dont know what to do or where to start. Its not like I'm going to be teaching her English like a college prof or anything. She just wants to learn better pronunciation and conversation skills. But where do I start and how do I do this? I've tried learning a foreign language before and I know people say English is hard to learn so what do I do? Our first session is tonight from 6-7pm. I hope I havent gotten myself into something over my head here.ANY help or advice would be majorly appreciated. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

I agree with the vote for Boston Terriers! Mine has a wonderful little personality and loves people, kids included. But if you have a big back yard and want something bigger or you're looking for an "outside" dog rather than an "in the house" dog look at Boxers. I'd love to have another Boxer and/or German Shepard.Boxers are just bigger versions of a Boston in personality and they're dang good family dogs. As soon as we get a house w/a backyard I'm hoping to get another Boxer and maybe a German Shepard.

Had a weak moment last night after hanging out with friends.I had the $ in my hand and went to the store for a pack of cigarettes. What stopped me? The friggin store was closed! So, I went home and did without. 5days 3hrs and STILL going smoke-free. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

nope.4days and 6 hours and going strong. I just didnt feel like being haggled about my private life. But since you asked. 1.my husband would rather me go back to school that find a job.I have a stack of applications I'm filling out though. 2.am I completely disabled? depends on what you consider disabled.I do,in fact, wear full length prosthetic leg braces on both legs b/c my knees are bad and I'm waiting on knee replacements.I wear these b/c I cant walk even short distances w/o assistance and long walks or running are out of the picture.Secondly, I've been diagnosed Bipolar type 2 and so I have some major med bills. 3.my truck is down for now and my hubby has to have his for work and he works real odd hours so I dont know if he'd take me to work if I had work or not.But it still doesnt matter b/c I'm going back to school in Aug. I'm spending the summer helping my family since my mom was in a car wreck and has 4 bulging discs now which result in several upcoming surgeries, the first of which is going on right now.So I'm going to help them around the ranch w/our 21 horses.Plus I'm going to help finish up things for my late grandmother's estate sale. So,yes I'm thinking on what I will be doing rather than not doing. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

ugh,I dred that part...going back around other smokers.I dont think I can do it right now.I'd cave in like sand. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

4days and 5hours here and going strong. I'm not really craving anything right now and the withdrawls from yesterday...headache,nausea,shakey hands...are gone. Now I only really have a problem with it is when I hit a bored streak ( Id usually fill that time w/smoking) or if someone on TV or a movie or a book is lighting up.You never notice how much smoking goes on in stuff like that, til now. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

Our public library and the library on campus are both too far to walk to..re:still no gas in my truck. But I've already checked out 2 books from the public library and finished them.I just need gas in my truck or have my hubby take me back up there.I'm pretty much reading anything I can get my hands on to pass the smoke-free time lol. I am going back to school in the fall. Yes, 3 1/2 days and counting. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

Ok, so I'm now 3days into my personal challenge to quit smoking. It sucks ass! PMS,no smoking and being out of chocolate makes this a very bad place to be right now b/c I am MOODY.(where is the chocolate dipped Midol when ya need it?) I'm starting to feel a few withdrawl symptoms..headache,nausea,my hands are shaking a bit.It sucks!Mentally I want to quit, but the rest of me would have smoked the curtains by now out of frustration.Mind over matter I guess. I really wish I could go to the gun range right about now to take out my frustrations, but alas,I'm out of gas $ and my hubby hasnt been reloading so I'm low on ammo.damn damn damn! "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
-
uh....no thanks. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
-
Damn it! I'm having some massive cravings right now.Grr I'm about ready to smoke the curtains or something! Someone tell me I dont need a cigarette. "...just an earthbound misfit, I."

OMG! I just read about everything you just said in a book I'm currently into:The Concealed Handgun Manual by Chris Bird. Thanks for the advice.I'd already planned on practicing but I'd rather do it at the range.Theres too much crap to knock over here and we have alot of animals that get in the way of everything.Unfortunately I dont have any snap caps for my 1911.We have some dummies for the shotgun, but I really dont feel like messing with that today. So *crossing my fingers* that I can get to the range soon.

yes, 2 hard landings...but I was a student then.Have you ever seen the carnage that is a student landing? Thats me. Will I ever jump again...I dont know.I'd like to think maybe someday I will but I'm not going to hold my breath over it.I can still hang out at the dz and watch and get a second hand high from all the others jumping,if that sounds crazy.*shrug* "...just an earthbound misfit, I."
