  1. Am I the only one who has a problem with this? What about the two-way which exited in front of you? Plan the dive, and all that... If you have a problem with this 2-way in front of you if you open lower, you will have the same problem if you open at the normal altitude. Think about horizontal separation.
  2. I bought a rawa, last year. It took several weeks before our order was "officially" placed (language problems, no replies, wrong form, ...), but delivery time (delivery in Germany) was very short, once we got some reaction (1 week). CU Jurgen
  3. Do you have the Dutch insurance or the USPA insurance? If you jump with your USPA insurance and not with the Dutch insurance , the longer Dutch repack cycle is not valid for you. You must comply (is this the correct word?) with the shorter USPA-repack cycle. Gr Jurgen
  4. and end with Microsoft Windows in your AAD??? No Thx
  5. 1 second? Should be at least between 5 or 10 second (depends from canopy to canopy) Please spend some money and take coaching. Do not do wrong what we did wrong before you
  6. Lookma has something you will like. It is made of webbing, so it can fold. http://www.lookma.de/Starting_Page/Products/_The_Wedge_/_the_wedge_.html
  7. It also depends from airport to airport. I know that with Ryanair from Girona to Brussels South (Charleroi) it is no problem. But in Charleroi, the security will not allow you. So, also check both airports.
  8. If you do more than a 360, get a speedcypres or an Argus (swoopmode).
  9. 1. Canopy on level above you (I mean no diving or banking) 2. No obstacles 3. Flare even 4. Land against the wind If you have a collision, euhm, you are not landing anymore. So: 0: avoid other canopies
  10. I do not know what the sigma manual says, but with better risercovers, I would also cut away first. But with the not so good risercovers of the vector 2, I would go straight for the reserve and resolve the other problem (main coming out) afterwards. The older atom tandemrigs had already the tuck away risercovers?
  11. When I did my TM-course, I was told that: If you cut away and the main stays in the container, it is possible (worn-out velcro on the mainrisercovers) that the main risers can dangle around above the reservecontainer. They can catch your reserve. I am not sure about the rsl and collinslanyard.
  12. Normally everybody, because you are not allowed to use it anymore. Your rigger (yes for those people like me who are not a rigger) can not repack your reserve with such an AAD. There are other threads about this specific subject.
  13. Re-phrased. Last year, freeflyer. AAD failed self-test, including display failure. He decided to jump it anyhow, assuming the blank screen meant it was off. This decision to jump an armed and malfunctioning AAD resulted in a misfire at 9000 feet. The lesson learned is don't jump with an AAD that has failed its self-test. Blues, Dave I know, you know, (now after the incident) but see cypres manual, Pg 19) I think that lot's of jumpers, me included, thought that this kind of freak incident was impossible.
  14. I have one and I am happy with it. I know several Belgian and Dutch swoopers who are also happy users. They like the swoop mode and that it is waterproof. Jurgen
  15. Many years ago? Last year, freeflyer, AAD was not switched on (due to an error when the owner wanted to switch it on, and decided to jump it anyway) but fired at 9000 ft. Mmm, not switched on and still fired? Bad luck, it never reached it 4 year inspection. I think I will never know what happened with my unit when I had to sent back my cypres for its 4-year inspection. Never recieved any info about what they changed or inspected. 1. Modifications we were never told of, because they never did a recall but waited for this inspection? 2. Repairs we were never told of, because the power on tests never found something and I (maybe)jumped a defective device? At least Vigil/Argus must inform you if they have found a problem. Cypres just can wait till the next inspection. It is just how you look at the 4 year inspection. 20 years ago, your car needed a maintenance every 5000 km, now it tells you when to make a new appointment with your favorite mechanic. Do you like: - the swoop mode, buy Argus, - the speed version, buy Cypres - 4 years inspection, buy Cypres - no inspection, but selftest, buy Argus or Vigil - an AAD which fires when in doubt, buy .... - an AAD which switches off when in doubt, buy ... Well do a search on this forum how often people were informed by Airtec in case of strange behaviour of their cypres? Where I live, we are not allowed to jump without an AAD. I have never received a loaner cypres from the manufacturer, when we have to sent our cypres to Germany for its 4 year inspection.
  16. I scared the crap out of myself that way. I did a H&P out of a 182 and pulled while I was still on the hill. Felt my d bag bump between my legs. Then you did something wrong. Watch a swooper getting out on a hop & pop and pull after a few seconds or a student doing a staticline-jump. See where their canopy goes. Review you exitposition, being stable, ... Just think where the wind comes from just after exit. Jurgen
  17. Or use two identical dvdburners. So you don't have to finalise the dvd if you play the dvd on the other player (burner). Jurgen
  18. No velcro, only magnets
  19. ??? If your point is that you only know for sure that you can react correctly at a malfunction, after you had one, than I agree with you. If you tell me that you are a better skydiver when you had x reserve-rides, because your gear or your packing is bad, ... Sorry but a real cutaway after a malfunction (without another backup canopy) or an intentional cutaway on special gear is not the same thing. Jurgen
  20. The cypres fired during descent? The manual is clear that you have to turn of a studentcypres if you come down with the plane*. Nevertheless, if the plane is still descending very fast (vertical speed above the activationspeed of the AAD), the AAD will fire at the right altitude. A few years ago, a pilot and and a co-pilot where killed when the FXC (mechanical device) fired and launched the pilotchute of the reserve out the door. (The co-pilot was wearing a student-rig equipped with a FXC). * read the manual for the complete and correct answer (hint 1500 ft)
  21. Is my edit to your text less confusing? Jurgen

  23. But only if his vertical speed is higher than the normal vertical speed with a drogue. So check this out and let us know if this is the case, before you make your statement. BTW You can say the same thing (being reckless) about backflip exits I guess.
