  1. Never been in France? They have (not in all skiressorts) green slopes, for ex. Les 2 Alpes.
  2. A friend had the same problem. Her main was to big to fit in the container.
  3. Linetrimtable for the sabre 120-170 http://www.performancedesigns.com/docs/linetrims/LS_120-170LT.pdf
  4. The PD team did testing with a datalogger. Even with very high wingloads, they found that you only reach the activation speed of a normal cypres when you did multiple rotations (aka bigger than 360°). Conclusion, you only need a speedcypres (or the Argus Swoopmode) if you do a 450° or more. CU Jurgen
  5. How much time between your transition from freefly (high speed) to belly (low speed)? If you were still going faster than normal, when you pulled, ...
  6. For ex when you have to exit the plane above 2000 ft but below 4000 ft. With a vector 2 tandem, if you release the drogue before you toss it, you will get a very slow opening the moment you toss the drogue. So it's better to toss it and then release it. I was told (not experience with strong) that with a strong system, you can release the drogue, exit, toss the drogue and have a normal opening.
  7. Any more info about this incident somewhere ? I remember that my tandemexaminator talked about it when I did my tandemcourse. The accident I believe happened in the early 90's I believe. Maybe I am wrong about the country.
  8. Any more info about this incident somewhere ? A similar incident: http://www.unitedparachutetechnologies.com/PDF/Support/Manual/09351(V2_Manual).pdf go to page 105 in the pdf file #3 - Current Tandem Instructor 2000 jumps total - 70 Tandem jumps. Pair exited Cessna 182 at 8,300’. Exit was stable and drogue was deployed. Solo jumper with 200 jumps followed Tandem pair and tracked into them about 10 seconds into the dive. Tandem Instructor and possibly the student were knocked unconscious. Tandem Instructor regained consciousness and pulled reserve at 200’. Reserve was pulling the pair upright on impact.
  9. Look up the incidents with tandems. I think it was in Danmark or Sweden (a long time ago), where a jumper killed his own mother during a tandemjump. She was the passenger and he jumped with the tandempair and crashed on them. The tandem is a sitting duck. The instructor is almost helpless and can do noting to correct the mistake made by the tandemlurker. If you do not understand that a Tandeminstructor (DZO, ...) can refuse you to jump with him, you do not understand the dangers. By consequence you have showed that you are not qualified to lurk a tandem.
  10. If you put your rig (unpacked) in a gearbag on your back, be sure that the zippers of the gearbag do not unzip when you ride your bike. This has happened to a friend (he was driving quite fast) and a truck drove over his rig.
  11. Probably not. They only do this at special occasions like the crew-event or the beachboogy (swoop-event). Jurgen
  12. And do a test. Try to climb out of your gear while your are hanging in your harness. I did this test. I geared up, attached my harness with the 3-ring system to the hanging harness we use for student training. I know that I have to break my arms (or shoulders) first.
  13. Do a search on this forum about exitseparation, winddrift, ... and you will find the answer.
  14. It's common knowledge among competition swoopers to wear tight clothing rather than a baggy freefly suit or a wide sweater. On a highly-loaded canopy the difference is very noticeable. When I was swooping with my katana 107 (with a wingsuit) I realy felt the difference. (Okay, not my best decision to wingsuit with the katana, but that's another story)
  15. Only if you do multiple rotations. No need for a special swoopmode or swoopversion if you only do a 270 or a 360.
  16. I have one. Happy customer, but yeah, hope it works when I need it and not when I don't need it
  17. Skydive first, buy later. It is possible that you will not like skydiving. Talk to your instructors (and riggers) when you have finished the AFF-course. Most people only buy gear after they have learned to skydive. First you need a big, slow parachute, later you (probably) want something faster (smaller). It's like buying a car before getting your drivers license. The silhouette is a very good canopy to start with (after finishing the course). Do not spend your money now, take the course and evaluate your needs after some jumps. Jurgen BTW used modern gear is a very good choice to start with.
  18. ????? I remember reading an article (before 2000) about pull forces created by a PC and the forces needed to pull the pin. Even with a very very tight closing loop (without using an "aid"device to close the container), the max force to pull the pin is never bigger than 10 pound (if I remember correctly). The pull forces created by the PC are much greater (35 or 80 pound?). I believe that Bill Booth wrote the article or was at least quoted in that article. Does anybody remember this article?
  19. The PCIT is not a result of the loop being to tight.
