It's a problem for them and us. Forest fires. You can smell the woodsmoke from Oregon at 10 grand in the Bay Area. All those weevles will be dead in a forest fire if a cut isn't made to break a fire roaring at them. Oh, and the house will go up too. Lastly the human may perish. Weevles wovvle but they don't fall down. Hunters and loggers care more about the game and land than the frickin big city environmentalists. Argh! The politics today! "I weigh 300 pounds and have just got off level 8 after 3 attempts. My S&TA wants to sell me a Velocity 84. Should I buy it?" That'd be more like it.

Mmmmm. Udders.

Cutted and pasted. I'm thinking the hanging out poolside is the ticket, with the Zoo or Legoland on Sunday. Perris is a nice place for whuffos to hang out. Heck, maybe I'll get her on another tandem. And Skymama, 1) yes, she's very cool and 2) watching me have fun is a great deal of fun. Maybe not as fun as watching a woman shop for shoes, but still pretty dang fun! Come on! 2 ten way chunks out of the Van! Ltdiver and Q-dog hangin from the step on camera, Sebazz in someone else's grip suit, Lummy grinnin like a madman under that wicked cool green bonehead, Skybytch slapping all of us one at a time, hard, for asking to see the altitude enhancers.... Epic. Shaping up to be epic.

Pfah! I'm good for it. Ask Quade. Hmmm. Do the gorillas still chuck their cr*p at the crowd? I did my first year of college in San D. and I thought that was about the funniest thing I'd ever saw. Do the gorillas at legoland throw legos at the crowd?

I am going to Perris Labor Day weekend. My wife doesn't know this yet. She is going with me, and we're bringing the 6 year old twins. I'm psyching myself up that this is a great family getaway. 6 hours in the car there, me skydiving with all the DZ.commers, evening drunkeness. Maybe a day at Disneyland or Magic Mountain, 6 hours back. Wow. It sounds great to me, but I'm open to suggestions on how to best package this great deal for her. Honey! Look at Sebazz's boobs!

Don't make me take my K1200RS out on your *ss! Yeah, I'll race you from the packing area to the bombshelter! Hey! They don't carry Murphys, Bushmills, or Jameson's at the bombshelter! What kind of Prod nonsense is that? New post coming: How do I package this idea as a great opportunity for my wife and 6 year old twins?

Ah, Bill, you're paraphrasing me out of context and creating confrontations/analogies different from the one's I presented. Beer and peanuts and we'd be right on common ground I suspect. Up here we just jailed a community college student for having pipe bombs in his room, and a declaration that he wanted to take them to school and "do a Columbine". I just think I might move a half-beat faster to kick the sh*t out of him than you, but that may just be a result of having had the sh*t kicked out of me more often than you have. We should "do a Japan" on Iraq. Beat them into an unconditional submission and install a SECULAR, democratic, constitutional government.

I think it was Sonny Barger (Big Kahuna Hell's Angel) who said "Three can keep a secret if two are dead". I'm in full agreement with the Billvon that any conspiracy this big would have been turned by one of the participants for fame or money.
-
Hey, thanks. It's remotely possible it's an original, but I doubt it.

Golly. So should a cop let himself be shot once before returning fire, or is it OK to shoot once the weapon is seen? "Oh, gee. We had lots of circumstantial evidence that he was preparing nukes, but we waited until he turned San Diego to glass, and now we'll strike" That guy down your way was just convicted of murder on circumstantial evidence. Should he have been let free because noone saw him rape and kill that little girl? This is the same thing. A man tells you you are his enemy. He tells you he wants to kill you. He picks up a bat, raises it and approaches you. At this point I would shoot him and stop the attack, but it appears you would wait until he struck you to justify defending yourself. But if the one strike killed you, you would not have the chance to defend yourself. When a country declares us it's enemy, and vows Jihad upon us, that is probable cause to do a pat search for weapons. If they resist, we increase the amount of force necessary to verify our security. International politics is just human nature writ large. When I was a cop, people would report that they had witnessed their car get vandalized, keyed. "That's him!" they would cry, "get that rat-bastard! Oh, my nice new VW!" and the chase would be on. The young vandal would be given the habeus grabbus and then the fight would be on. Now the nice, urban victim would cry, "let him go!" "Don't hurt him!". I don't mind that most people don't understand force and violence. I think it's a good thing. But don't sacrifice me and mine to Sadaams first bomb, so that you can then eliminate him as a threat to you and yours.

You're cold! Feast or famine! Nikon or skycam! I was just trying to make the point that the N70 hookup takes some effort, and that effort is worth it for a Nikon fan. If you aren't brand-loyal, you may consider the easier hookup for the shutter release that other cameras have. As a Nikon fan, I also thought it was worth the extra effort

I have been to France. I'm half French. My great grandparents had the good fortune to leave. As a country, the majority of the people support that conspiracy nonsense and are anti-semitic. True. A majority of them also beleive that we bombed 3000 of our people to death and that Israel shoud be allowed to be devoured by the Muslim world. To call them "cheese eating surrender monkeys" like Homer Simpson did would be callous. But funny.

I've got an N70 also. But I added it to my other Nikon camera gear. The problem with it is linking it to the bite/blow/tongue switch. Mine is permanently soldered to a switch with a quick-disconnect, but most people aren't comfortable soldering onto their cameras. Nikon has a switch adapter, but it's expensive. I don't know how Jairo hooked his up. The Canon's have the easy 2.5mm jack, most of them, and if you're just starting and aren't brand loyal, you might consider how that might make your life easier. The 24mm is a good match to a mini-dv with a .6 wide angle converter. I have a .5 on my PC110, and the 24mm is just a little closer. I jumped a C206 with a cargo door last week for the first time -BEEER!- and the pilot told me that a tall camera flyer sheared his 35mm off the top of his helmet striking the tail. Lucky it wasn't his head, and he didn't take the tail off too. If that had been me, it would have been on my first jump with a brand new D-1. MAN those are cool. OUT

Uh, whattya grab onto on the belly fliers when you do a naked hybrid Otter jump?

Very cool. Thanks for sharing.

Damn, Lummy! I take you head-down and you forget me? Let's plan on Saturday, and I'll start laying the groundwork at home. I hook this up with a Mickey visit and we win all around. My twins are cool! They have the level one skydive plan memorized already and they're only six (In september! Today was the first day of first grade) 6 linked on the door with six divers! Come on! I've got two skydivers from Perris coming to stay at my house this weekend, Emily and Brook, I'll make them hook up too, or I'll disconnect my downstairs toilet! Two Otters! We'll get BillVon to stop talking Hydrogen and World Peace long enough to plan it. There's a pool! and Airconditioned bunkhouses! and really cool people! The skybytch rack in person! The Rack Invitational! OK I'LL STOP SHOUTING! Yeeee haw!
-
Hatred baby! We've got it all, and they hate us for it. Did any other army pack wine into the field? "We will fight you Nazi bastards to the last Frenchman!" Ouch! "O.K. we quit"
-
Bill, I think you're trolling. Japan and West Germany. People tend to project themselves on to others. You are a very smart, conversant person who other smart conversant people could always come to a win win situation with. You are talking about people who would stone Skybytch to death in the street for showing us a playful photo of her rack (just half her rack I might add) I don't think you get that there is no place at the table for cultures that practice slavery, forcibly mutilate their women, etc. This is the reason College campuses are so liberal. When you are surrounded by bright people who enjoy debating, you tend to start to believe everyone can talk their way out of any situation. If you could only get through to them. But you can't. Diplomacy is saying "nice doggy" while reaching behind you for a stick. (I forget, maybe Roosevelt?) I look forward to your hydrogen powered world. When the oil fields get nuked by Sadaam, we will probably have it up and running in about 10 years. But until then, I want Clay and most of these other young men and women to continue to be able to afford to skydive.
-
Bill! There is no commercially available turbine aircraft that runs on coal. Is the fact that we can afford to skydive in this country a standard of living that you are willing to fight for?
-
The relative cheapness of jet fuel in the United States, and our relative affluence are directly related to the price of oil. War for oil = war for skydiving? I'm not trolling. I can afford to air condition my house because of the price of oil. The price of oil is directly related to our standard of living, and I think its worth fighting for. I was a gas station attendant when gas went over the $1 mark for the first time. Gas lines, odd and even days. (off topic, but many funny stories contained therein) How would a world government have affected religious fanatics? I spent most of today in the State Capitol listening to politicians plan stuff. Yick. No more government, less government. Oh, and Clay, let's go shootin. I got one that's registered, and they haven't come for it yet. It would be easy to part with though, frickin mousegun.

That's a big AYE-firmative. Get the concentric if you've got money burning a hole in your pocket.

C'mon Jimbo say something like "I pity the fool!" or something. On the forums I give voice to stuff I would let run off my back like water when it happens in the real world. I am annoyed by people "working" any system. I was a national class shooter in PPC and IPSC handgun, and highpower rifle (Don't get me started on mousegun shooters) the system was easy to work. You'd get a Marine sniper who'd never "competed" and was open class- my ass- and put him on a four man team to drive up the team numbers. Or you would compete as hard as you could with an inferior weapon and reloaded ammo, drawing poor scores, and then bring out a national match M1A (real gun) with Federal match ammo and clean up. It was within the rules, but it was petty, everybody did it, but it just wasn't right. The best competitions are with the factory's guns. Glock does a match like that from time to time, vanilla pistols with factory ammo. Level playing field. It's a completely different type of competition as it measures shooting skill, not cleverness in gaming the system. You're right, people can hire jumper coaches, and they do. It adds another dimension to a complicated, competitive sport. I think that's why I'm attracted to 4 way video. No game, just show me the grips in good, tight, well-framed video. That is just my skill, and if I don't get it, it's my lack of skill. Using Paul Quade's camera helmet won't improve me. (I may look cooler though). We just feel the word ethical in different ways. I feel that rules and ethics are usually different things. I prefer scrambles competitions, where skill is dominant over strategy. Were we to meet at a meet and you had some moster skygod star ringer on your team I would laugh to myself, them's the breaks, and give it my best effort, and maybe my team would win anyhow cause your video flyers battery died. Thanks for the thoughtful debate.
-
Whatever you do, be REALLY careful not to lose those two teeny-tiny springs that are on either side of the battery cover. I forget about those little b*st*rds every time, but I've been lucky every time. That is the only design defect in what I think is otherwise about a perfect product.

A cop in Seattle just pondered this question for the rest of his life. While wondering how to deal with a disadvantaged member of the population and doing his due diligence of going up the escalation of force ladder one rung at a time, the disadvantaged person took his service pistol and shot him to death. Introspection kills.
