Yeah, I get a lot of greif about my LT regarding this. I liked my Aviator freefly helmet, so I just got a Hawkeye. I will switch to a Bat-rack when I can. I'd like to have that extra space to mount up a flash.

Yeah, I need a quick release, I switch between digital and film, it doesn't add significant height. Yeah, there's a wedge in there a friend machined for me that angles my still to match my video. I shoot tandems on my belly, and to get the angle right on Vectors you gotta really crank your head back. It's not so much that I'm uncomfortable shooting 4-way and other RW. Come on! Vidiot gear pictures! On!

Nice attempt to keep things on track, but Freeflyz can hijack his own thread if he wants to . We haven't heard much from Betsy, so I know she's grinding out a schedule for us here. If she says different, it'll be different, but I'd like to do hybrids on Friday. jp, if you'll help organize that would be great. You've done much more of this than me, but we will probably want to break into two groups for the initial jumps and then if you'd organize the bigger stuff, and turning peices, that would be great. I think we're doing RW on Saturday, so we could do freefly formations and VRW on Sunday? Let's see what Betsy comes up with. She NEVER disappoints! I will jump any discipline with anybody that will have me. I'm the goofy idiot with all the shit on his head in the superman outfit.

I know you were asking Cajones, but I definitely recommend a D-box or other total enclosure. An upjumper at my DZ jumps a PC120 on an L bracket and he has this big ding in the side of the screen from a riser slap. His screen is not quite right anymore. I think that's one of the more expensive components to replace/repair. I think minimum to get your camera fixed is like $275 by Sony. If a D-box or similar prevents even one trip to the fixit shop, money well spent.

I don't think you should go 1:1 hangers to belly-base. We did a six way RW base with four hangers that went fast enough for head down stingers. Heck. We'll work it out ALL DAY! Heee-haw!

Yeah, like you said, the stuff is kinda new, maybe we'll end up being the one's to define it as it evolves. That said, I think that's a great freefly base formation, and if it's fast enough can support foot docks on shoulders (which I can do) and head-down stingers on the head downs in the formation (which I can't, yet. Wanna trade some really cool hi-res pictures of you for some coaching?

jp, Style question. If you have a greased safe formation, which (I know you know) is two in sit, and two head-down, with stingers or sit-dockers, is that a freefly formation, or a hybrid?

I'd like to see what everybody looks like in their head gear. This is my setup. D-box, Cameye, Crosshair ringsight on articulating bracket. PC120 in D-Box (Old style) 10D on Stroboframe, conceptus tongue-release. For film it's a Nikon N70. The cameye light is on the ringsight and is shrink-tube wrapped to the bracket. All the wiring is in the helmet, and the tongue-switch for the stills is routed inside to a stereo plug for the Canon switch. The stills camera shutter release plugs into a stereo plug on the top of the camera. Thanks to Evan Mortimore for the picture.

Bwah! Yes, I too think you should get a better helmet as a sturdier mount. The helmet is the base on which everything else is built. Cajones, that's brilliant advice about CRW filming. I use the crosshair-type ringsight so I know about what fills the frame, but that bit about matching the focal length to the video without the WA adaptor is nice. I'm looking forward to trying that.
