My problem is usually my bowling ball head. I went out last week with just the freefly helmet and could hang with the big boys. Lew is like 7 feet tall and 100 pounds, she can even out track you "Oh keeper of all ratings".

IN case you haven't seen it in the other thread, this is the basic landing area at Byron. The outs are huge and flat.

DAMMIT! And I gussied one up to REALLY impress her, too! Here's the rough borders, folks. The fence on the left (west) side is barbed wire, and is the only obstacle worth mentioning. The others are a windsock and a little 8 X 8 pump house with flags all over it.

OK, here's a shot of the main landing area from above. That's Iwan funnelling away from me at mach speed. Don't worry I got back down there to get the opening. ...Hmmm? Oh yeah! The main landing area! It's about, what? A quarter mile deep and a half-mile wide. If you are west of the single fence out there, it's about another quarter mile deep and wide. South it's about a half mile deep and wide. It's all pretty much flat, except the gentle hill north of the DZ, but I've downwinded that one downhill and got some great cow swoopage. And you walk right across the road into the hangar. No runways to cross, no vans to ride, bang! "Pack my shit biotch!" and like that. Just corner any of us locals, and we'll tell you what's what. On my level ONE I landed a mile from the DZ in a cow pasture. No problemo. It's all really flat, and what fences there are are easy to find. Eloy is the only DZ I like anywhere near as much.

I have photoshop elements and I use the "save for web" option, quality set at 50%, and then start with the long axis of the shot at 1000 pixels and downsize until I get below the 60K mark.

My SanDisk Ultra 512 MB compactflash card holds 256 photographs at highest resolution. I found this out last weekend when I neglected to clear the previous few weeks photos out of it and maxed it. The camera will tell me I have 157 photos available on that card when it is empty. My SimpleTech gigabyte card tells me I have 203 photos available when it is blank, but I have had over 400 photos on that one and hadn't filled it.

Hey, after having done it myself a number of times, I look at the time of a "heated" post. I figured you were in the bag a little. A formal apology was not necessary, but it is gratefully accepted anyhow. I think the civil union thing is a good one. It allows any two people to assign the other as their heir and authority to make decisions on their behalf when they are incapacitated. If you want your partner to be able to make those choices and be your beneficiary, you should be able to do that as easily as straight couples can by getting married at the County Clerk's office.

That's a great question, Vallerina. All my jumps so far have been with another Birdman, and he took care of making sure the pilot knew we were on board. I think most DZ's go through pilots pretty quick. I am also curious what is the briefing is for a pilot dropping birdmen.

Sorry, I thought the G3 was a video camera. Get a digital Rebel if you can't afford a used D60 or 10D. Get a nice Sigma lens. You're in business for about a grand.
