Is that arbritrary? Shouldn't my time in be considered in factory the amount? I've been there 4 years. Should I accept anything less then 4 months? You know? As far as unemployment goes, I hadn't even considered it but I will look into it. No reason not to collect what I have paid a premium for. No reason not to have a paycheck whilst I look for a new job somewhere I guess. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

I'd like to poll you all for opinion and advice, I'm really down about my work situation lately. I'll make a long story as short as possible and say that the department I work in has been drastically restructured over the past year and half or so. This as part of a major restructuring of of entire company. Today I find that I no longer enjoy what I do. It can easily be said that the job I was hired to do, no longer exists and has been replaced by one that I do not enjoy. Problem number one is that it has been done in babby steps. I was having one on one meetings with my boss as I didn't feel comfortable. He had reassured me that we weren't exactly sure where it was we were heading. He requested I stay the course a while and see. If I still didn't like it, he would help me find a position I liked more... or he would help me get a severance package. Problem number two is that they let him go as one of the last steps in the restructuring process . Then replaced him and gave us all new "role descriptions" and "accountabilities" like flipping a switch. To put it mildly, I felt trapped. (One thing which works in my favour is that we have not officially signed the new roles/titles... that's next week) The other day, my new boss informed me that they are also going to change my hours. I would now have to work a few late nights and weekends... I said NO. Then proceeded to explain the above to him. I meet with him again tomorrow morning. It's either going to be a new position offer, or severance. At this point, I'd like to ask anyone who knows anything about this, or has had similar experiences for advice. What am I actually entitled to legally? Can I ask for severance now that I have actually performed some of the new tasks? What is standard practice or amounts? I'm leaning towards the package... I'd like to ask for one months wage for each year of service. Is that reasonable? If he offers me another position and I don't want it, can I still hold them to pay severance? Any help, any info, any courage-building words of wisdom... all will be greatly appreciated!

I'm sure I will, if someone doesn't before me. My trade is not in device design and manufacture right now...If anyone wants to wait for me to do it, it will be at least several years... Just to make clear, that comment of mine was not a sarcastic one. There are already different CYRPRES models now (Tandem, Student, Pro). I truly think that certain "new requirements" in functionality would require a separate model altogether. I.e. You want a CYPRES that will fire if you forget to pull while wearing a wingsuit with a vertical descent much slower then the current firing parameters describe. But the new parameters required for this to work would put a hot canopie's pilot at risk. You have the option of being able to cycle the one device between two sets of firing parameters, or you have the option of having two separate devices. Thinking ergonomics the way you describe. The Better solution IMO is the latter as it eliminates the chances of having your AAD set incorrectly for the jump du jour. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Bwahahahaaaa! Hey incidentally, I experienced the reverse... I was sad, then happy to open this thread.

That's ergonomics! (sorry goose491). hehee, don't sweat it. I'm just a bit of a stickler for terminology. Ergonomics has to do with the physical relationship between man and machine... physical. Examples: Problem: "The lever on my machine is big, hard, square and awkward. At the end of the workday, my hand feels like a crippled claw!" Ergonomic Solution:"Let's give it a nice gel-grip which is shaped with finger grooves in it so that your grip is both more effective AND comfortable." Problem:"The electronic flaps selector switch is located directly below the interior light switch in the cockpit. Pilots are turning out the interior lights and then fiding themselves fighting back pressure to keep level flight before realising that they have inadvertantly selected full flaps. This causes not only a moment of confusion, but also a structural safety issue if you are above the maximum airspeed for flap use." Ergonomic Solution:"Let's move that flap selector to a more isolated location in the cockpit so as to avoid hitting it by mistake while doing other things in the cockpit." Do you see what I'm getting at here? I'm going to go ahead and assume you might just be taking some flight lessons and that you are now focussed on the "human factors in aviation" aspects? That perhaps this is why "ergonomics" is a big buzz word for you today? ... could be wrong. But your wingsuit example, that's not Ergonomics. That's merely expanding the intended uses of the device. It in no way changes the physical interaction between it and you. It merely allows for you to screw up on your dive (i.e. not pull until passing through a grand). As Ron pointed out, we don't want it to fire in the situation you have described. Perhaps you should go out and invent the "Cypres, Birdman Model" ? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

And which are you? lol The person who posted a link that no one read. Okay, so I couldn't open your link from work but I just did now... along with all the other links. Not much news but Rhonda, your link makes no reference to urine. lol None at all. But the others do. They say there is a possibility that the ejaculate would contain trace amounts (one site does say it is possible that it be mostly urine from time to time) but that's only because it comes via the urethra and there may be some there to begin with. What is actually expelled is an alkaline liquid secreted by the paraurethral glands. The paraurethral glands produce an enzyme called prostatic acid phosphatase (PAP) and a sugar. You'll recall Vertifly and I talking about just "how sweet it is!" It's.... not piss! My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

And which are you? lol It's not Piss (does that count as a rhyme?) My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
-
....or like this one? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Well there's the real issue IMO. You should never want your AAD to fire. And stop saying "ergonomics"... lol The CYPRES has a one button interface with it's user. Can't be more simple. Having to press said button 4 times and at the right time is a step FORWARD in the devices ergonomic quality because it eleminates the chance of inadvertantly turning it on/off without knowledge of it being done. Ditto. Actually....... ..... minus the "speculate" part. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Ahhhh...... muffin ... Hmmmmmmmmm -Left a new years party to do it in a car in the parking lot. The party followed shortly thereafter. If the car wasn't a rockin' before it was surrounded by a hoard of some 40 people, it certainly was afterwards! -Under a blanket on the couch in her parents TV room... while watching a movie with her parents. (got away) -Janitors Closet in high school (caught) -Behind the stage curtains in the cafeteria in high school (got away) -Pole-Vaulting mats at York University's indoor track and field training facility (had an audience) -Up in a tree on a nature walk... watching people walk their dogs below us (got away as far as the humans were concerned... but I'm pretty sure we were spotted by a cocker-spaniel. Damned thing wouldn't shut up! ) -Couch at an afterhours nightclub (got away) I'd better stop now methinks... lol My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

PC in tow ? mal, from the incident thread.
goose491 replied to NelKel's topic in Safety and Training
I see the reasoning, but it's not very likely that a PC in tow is going to stand you up. If you have a PC in tow, the point of contact between the bridal and you is likely at the pin or lower (longitudinally on the body). At least that is my thinking, feel free to correct, anyone. EDITED to add: Travman, might you be refering to a bag-lock? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!! -
If by "fuck youup", you mean produce certain physical detorioration, then you are wrong. If by "fuck youup", you mean depreciate motor skills, you are wrong. If by "fuck youup", you mean reduce the capability of mental calculation and rational thought, again, you are wrong. If however, by "fuck youup" you simply mean the "taking the edge off" feeling, or that slightly altered sense of reality... then buh?? I don't know, I have no idea, generally speaking, which of the two (booze vs. pot) does it's job faster. The "Gateway Drug" theory has been disproved and controverted. It simply isn't the case. Then enjoy your whisky
-
Ahhh Whisky. It's funny, you say ol' Mary-jane should stay illegal because of the people is makes rich. Some one says that these people are only being made rich from pot BECAUSE it's illegal, and you mention "well there's always booze." About booze, who was it making rich during the prohibition? Criminals prophit from that which is illegal. Make it legal and they can no longer profit! I say legalize... and I'm pro-force-feeding the uber-stressed as well. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
