Bump, So this weekend I took the panels off. I removed the vinyl using a hair-dryer and then used some concentrated windex to work on the goop left behind (actually, as I got better at removing the pieces, there was little 'goop' left). Anyway, it turns out I may have been worried for nothing. There is no visible difference in the colour or shade of the paint. At certain angles, you can see how the minor abrasions to the surface are not present where the stickers used to be but the difference is almost non-noticeable unless you are looking for it. I bought this product by Meguiar, it's called Scratch-X, for minor scratch and swirl removal. It is clear coat safe so tonight, I'll see what type of magic I can work. Then I presume a wax-job will 'seal' the deal. lol. I'll keep you posted. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

I had some pretty serious thought of doing that job once.Quote What-all is required? How does one get into such a vocation? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Would i be a dork if I had a helmet painted like this?

I voted awesome. I think it would look PIMP!... especially with some yellow flewfit goggles. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!! -
But... then all my biker-buddies will call me a flamer!! The bags came with the bike, the picture is the one from the classified add. Truthfully, I have only used them once to bring a bunch of stuff to the DZ. They are off most of the time. The longest I've spent on the bike in one sitting is some 6.5 hours though. This bike is actually classified as a "Sport-Tourer", the seating is very comfortable and the handlebar/footpeg positions lend themselves to a bit more of an upright position then most crotch-rocket.

I just might... The more I read about paint systems, the more I'm leaning towards giving it a shot. I have a friend with a paint gun.... maybe I'll try the buffing first, for the experience just the same. See now this is just the sort of thing I hadn't considered... a Heat Gun. I would have only thought to peel by hand and use "Goo-Gone" to get rid of the Goo! Lot's of scrubbing. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

I wanted an older model, one I could punish a bit during my first coupe seasons One it wouldn't be a crime to do my own maintenance/repairs on whith no experience at all . lol Beauty!! I love the YZFs. Only thing is that they are FAR from rare... at least where I come from. My next bike just might be a late model YZF600, I think it's a 95. The owner has taken very good care of it and it just looks PIMP! Without taking a larger engine, the YZF is significantly smaller, lighter and more agile then mine... should make a nice step My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Cool cool. Thanks for that. I can remove that 'piece' of decal from the rear-side panel and see what luck I have. What sort of Buffing Compound would you suggest for this task then? Should I use what's called a 'cutter' ? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

The fairings are fiberglass, painted black... how can I tell if it's been clear coated? It's a 93 and has seen good kms... but here in Canada, it only got to go outside a minimal portion of it's years. Fortunately, There is one small piece of decal which can be removed without looking like it's missing. I'll test with that and see what I'm dealing with. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

How about when I build up enough experience on this one k? Short answer: Yes So my question is about the actual process. It doesn't sound like much "effort" at all... does anyone know what my friend was talking about? Can sun-fading be "Buffed out" ? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
-
Hello all, No I didn't crash my bike! (again) lol I'm looking to peel the decals off my 93 Suzuki Katana... go for the straight black look. I'm wondering about sun-fading though, and seeing where the decal used to be, in dark black against naturally faded black. Know what I mean? Someone told me that any sun-fading could be "buffed out" with the right products but didn't know anymore then that. Any one know if that sounds about right? Has anyone ever done such a thing? Steps? Any info would be greatly appreciated :-) Nick My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

There is no rational explanation of what he is doing in this thread. The AAD should somehow fire for birdman who's vertical speed might be the same as that of a hot canopy. It should not fire for the hot canopy though. It cannot count on the user to tell it which is which though, because the user should not be able to 'operate' it. "There's a hole in the bucket! Dear Liza, dear Liza...." Nick p.s. I think in the future, the CYPRES should hop out and pack the main parachute for me when I'm done my skydive. Have a great weekend all!!! Or cut and paste it here for the rest of us with proxy? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Do a search. You'll find that people have reasons they want them set. And people have reasons why they would like to be able to turn them off. Taking away the ON/OFF is a major step BACKWARDS. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

You use the term "Strawman", then you tell people their stance is that the device is perfect when in fact all they are doing is pointing out flaws in your specific suggested "Improvement"? That's irony. Or you argue that the device shouldn't need to be turned on/off as a response to why turning it on and off is done the way it is?. Okay nate, civil discussion is one thing; Just arguing for the sake of it is quite another. I know you aren't trolling, but you aren't thinking this through either... only typing. It's good to want to improve things. But it's also good to know what it is you are doing. I think you should make up a proposal and send it to AirTech. So far, your recommended "improvements" are: -It should know when I am wearing a wingsuit, and -The user should not have a choice if it is On or Off Good luck, let us know what they say.

Would the Skyhook RSL prevent a bag lock?
goose491 replied to Hawkins121's topic in Safety and Training
Okay gotcha , thanks. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!! -
We're doing everything but by suggesting that it cannot be improved, and erecting strawmen to show that it can't. It's crooked... Untrue Nate. We are all aware of the improvements made in the past, and nobody is saying that imporvemenst can't be made in the futur. But two things are certain: -Turning the device on and off should NOT be made easier. It was purposely made more difficult to improve ergonomics (i.e. to avoid inadvertent setting) -The current operating parameters had purpose in mind... scenarios in mind... the device has a purpose... that purpose is to allow a last chance, or a "shot in the dark" for someone who's life has just been drastically cut short by their errors in judgment or a freak occurrance... Not to allow retarded people to skydive. lol Once again, nobody is saying that improvements cannot be made. Just that the one and only improvement that you have suggested won't work without being outweighed by the additional risks. That unless it is present in an entirely seperate machine, market specifically for your purpose. Nick My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Hey Andy, All very good points man... but you'll note that nobody is stating the CYPRES is perfect. In fact, your example display just what we are saying: That if you want your AAD to do something different, something outside of the currently programmed operating parameters, you don't change the current operating parameters of the Every-Skydiver-AAD and give them the option to chose (or lose in the case of choosing wrong). Instead, you put out an entirely separate machine that those who are interested in, will buy. i.e. 'swoop Cypres' And though different models/versions have been created, proving that improvements have been made and can be made again, you'll note that the ergonomics have not been altered. It is still a one button interface, with a 4-press redundancy factored in to prevent inadvertent setting. Nick My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Would the Skyhook RSL prevent a bag lock?
goose491 replied to Hawkins121's topic in Safety and Training
Thanks but now I feel particularily Naive. ... What is bag strip? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!! -
What's up Adam? It's me Nick. Thanks, I have gathered that by now. I have looked into a few different paths for myself. A few of them could not begin for me until May. I figure Severance or no, at the very least I want to ensure that I am let go voluntarily as oppose to them holding me to the new accountabilities until I am fed up and quit. This way, I could at least collect some U.I. until this time... buh?? Any thoughts? My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Would the Skyhook RSL prevent a bag lock?
goose491 replied to Hawkins121's topic in Safety and Training
Hi Bill, I'm curious as to why this (above) is. I mean, I understand that where the skyhook is in use, the jumper has decided to cutaway the main. But why then, would there be a failsafe which allows it to break free of the reserve freebag bridle when excessive force (400lbs +) is met? IMO, excessive force in this configuration could only be caused by a reserve failing to deploy. And that's one scenario where I might just be happy that the main I decided to cutaway a few seconds ago... is still attached and streaming behind me. Perhaps I'm missing something, I just don't understand the concept of this failsafe break-chord. Thanks, Nick My Karma ran over my Dogma!!! -
You seem to like analogies Ron, so here's one. All the alchemy in the middle ages does not disprove the theory & practice of chemistry and physics. Nate you're really hung up on this ergonomic design of the AAD. What I find strange is that your suggested "improvement" is no more then adding new functionality to the device. The only way for that new functionality to become reality is at additional risk to another group of divers. This is not an improvement in ergonomic design. If you allow for the user to select modes on their AAD (such as in the Vigil), you open up the chance of placing it in the wrong mode. This is actually a step backwards in the present ergonomic design of ON or OFF with the 4-press process to protect against inadvertantly turning it on or off. My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

Those weren't insults Nate, they were just sarcastic remarks. You'll have to show a better sense of humour in here if your going to make it with Frenchy! lol I do think it's absurd at about 120mph though. Hi name is Jeb (the guy who had claimed he would do it) He still says he will, but the technologies involved are costing much more than anticipated. Think bubbles. Think water and bubbles My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!

I had missed that. Yes, I am a salaried employee and I have worked permanent full-time for four years. I worked another year and half full time for them a few years before that too, before going away to college. And when I was in high school, I worked here part-time for about another year and a half. No, I don't think that is accurate. When a company lays you off, then must provide you severance. If you are let go without cause that is. I'm pretty sure that applies if your job there, simply ceases to exist. They cannot just put you out and say you are "even". My Karma ran over my Dogma!!!
