  1. Not political correctness. Frankly it is embarassing that a Mennonite College has been playing the National Anthem since 1957. Totally inconsistent w/ Mennonite theology towards country. This is a step to align themselves with their own religious traditions. You (or I) might not agree w/ their pacificsm or stance towards government or country but nontheless I think it is good for them to act consistent with their beliefs. 2. Not anything new or surprising to anybody who has spent much time around charismatics. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  3. I saw no "real" Dem plan to cut spending of any kind. It was all discussions about the extent of the massive increase. You can't say that a "slightly less massive increase" = "a cut". Only politicians really believe that level of semantic crap - and the brainwashed advocates that worship them. This is also 100% true of the Republican plan that actually passed. It just about guarentees the deficit rises from 14t to 22t and makes very tiny "cuts" to forecast increases while pushing all the hard decisions down the road. 4. Lots of Tim Hortons in Canada, not so many in the U.S. ergo, Tim Horton's lowers the crime rate. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  5. Hi, I'm trying to find a good way to print up some 4-Way dive pools and found reference in old threads to something called printpool. It looks like it was associated w/ either National Skydiving League or Omniskore but it was unclear. Anyway, I searched both those websites and didn't come up w/ anything. Anybody have a link to find printpool or know of another tool which does the same thing? Thanks, "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  6. Much worse consequences than that. A large nation w/ a large population of marriagable (~20s) male w/ no hope for mates is going to lead to a huge amount of social tension released either through internal dissent or war. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

  10. Any other strange changes in food preferences? Well my tastes have always been strange (for instance I can go weeks eating only Thai food -- currently trying to control that binge). The Thai food thing is neither strange nor something to be controlled. Since I really started messing w/ making Thai food I had eaten little else. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

  12. Totally depends on the jurisdiction. Quite a few states have passed various fetal protection statutes. Some pro-choice people see these as a camel's nose under the tent by establishing that the fetus is a person. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  13. Also, any business in VA can by putting up a sign, prohibit people from open carrying on their premises. The person who is open carrying is bound by law to obey that sign. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  14. So you are not in favour of the Virginia law that allows those who carry openly to get drunk in a restaurant/bar? There is no law that allows drinking while open carrying. It is just not specifically prohibited. It is legal to drink while open carrying in Virginia. It is illegal to be in posession of a firearm while intoxicated. 15. What does "open concealed" mean? They allowed concealed carry with no permit. (I assume that is what it means). You can still get a permit if you want it to establish reciprocity with other states. It was an error. There is "Concealed Carry" and "Open Carry" of which Wyoming is the latter. They are not mutually exclusive. Virginia allows open carry (no permit required). It also allows concealed carry with a permit. The rules are a little different. 17. Dan, what do you not get about basic economic theory here. Lower tax rates always lead to higher government revenues. Clearly the answer is that we need to cut tax rates to 0%. That way revenues will go to ∞ . Deficit problem solved. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  18. You don't think it's possible for someone like me to go have dinner in a restaurant while carrying a concealed handgun, have a glass of wine with my meal, and not have any negative consequences? Maybe, but let's just be clear that is illegal in VA. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  19. Yeah, that was really stupid. Somehow it wasn't necessary for the cops here to beat the guy to death. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  20. Yes but if Buffett paid his secretary more then she would have more money (helping the middle classes) and the government would have more money (because of her higher effective tax rate). It is a win-win for two things that Warren cares deeply about. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  21. Warren should pay his secretary a lot more. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

  23. Perhaps you are right, lawrocket. I find it interesting that people have gotten angry enough (at least that is how I interpret it) to move from: the system is rotten but my guy is OK to the system is rotten and my guy is a part of it too. I don't know what the angry voter does w/ that decision, though. Choices are limited and throwing all the bums out oftne leaves you with just another set of bums in there. 24. Ask your instructors. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  25. Yup, saw a poll earlier this week that indicated that the majority of voters have a negatie opinion of their own congressman. That is in contrast to the long time trend for voters to have a negative view of congress overall but believe the his/her own congressman is swell. Be interesting to see if that translates to wholesale changes or not. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
