  1. http://www.foreignpolicy.com/articles/2011/08/03/the_palestinians_imaginary_state?page=full Another commentary, this one about why the Palestinian state does not meet the legal requirements for recognition. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  2. In my dreams I have landed some complete balls of crap. I just seem to flare them and they land great, I only wish I was 1/2 as good as I am in my dreams. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  3. This situation is created by those who cry foul when they feel medical privacy needs to be enforced to protect those getting procedures like an abortion The liberal types have created this catch 22 I don't see where privacy has anything to do with it. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  4. All these arguments should not matter. According to the article in the original post this man had been through a committment proceeding and held in psychiatric care. Ergo, according to the law he should not have been legally able to get a gun. The article does not tell us but it is likely that either 1) he was not put on the ineligible list due to an oversight of some kind or 2) he was put on that list but acquired firearms by other means. 5. I highly doubt that they are close to perfection. Amish sects have been involved in drug dealing, bootlegging, and other crimes. Some sects allow alcohol. Some years back, an Amish man, who was clearly intoxicated, was allowed to do a tandem at a DZ in this area. I was there. They TM is a good friend of mine. Even though I, and a few others, raised an objection to the jump, it happened anyways. Years ago, when I smoked pot, the Amish were the ones to get it from in PA.. Often saw them in bars outside of Harrisburg. I think they are no different than anyone else. You'll find good and bad in all sectors of society the world over. Doesn't even begin to touch on the rampant child sexual abuse and incest in those communities. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  6. Of course there are ways to change that. One simple idea (just thinking out loud) is to tax the first X number of dollars of capital gains at the now existing rate and then tax capital gains above that as regular income. Of course any system is imperfect. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  7. I have yet to hear of a single football player that has made as much money as JK Rowling. You know she got welfare for a while. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  8. My next DVD purchase Miss Universe Hopeful Told to Wear Panties "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  9. Yes, to 1/2 the margin of error you have to quadruple your sample size. It reaches diminshing returns at relatively low levels. The subgroup margin or errors would be higher but that all depends on the size of each subgroup. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  10. Rooting for UVa as always, even though we are probably in for another "building" year. I love the enthusiasm of the college game. Last year I had season tickets (highlight: seeing one of my friends demo into the stadium as CavMan). This year I passed on season tickets but definitely going to make it to a couple of games. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jSE4nxa7WDI "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  11. Oh, oh, I know. The worker's salary is taxed at a much higher effective rate. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  12. Indeed. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  13. It is a bit ironic. A real plus for me, though, is that I buy flats on closeout. Last time I had to order I paid less than $40 per pair, can't remember exactly. Since there is little or no padding to wear out I don't have to replace them every 400 miles. My last pair I got ~2500 miles out of and I am well over 1000 on the current pair. I toss them when the upper rips away from the sole. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  14. I do all of my running in minimalist shoes, with some occasional barefoot strides at the track. It eliminated the problems I was having with plantar fasciitis and with Illo-tibial band syndrome. I run mostly on trails where I don't think barefoot is really an option. Had a couple of great runs this weekend from the DZ, found some horse trails up in the mountains and hit those. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  15. Do you have a cite for that? And is it broken down by crime type instead of lumped all together? I would not be surprised if you were right for sexual offenders overall but recidivism in, e.g., pedophilia is very, very high. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  16. Actually these color associations have everything to do with race. They are deeply embedded in American culture (and I think elsewhere, but I have not done as much reading on that). If you want to know about the way race and color attitudes are intertwined you should look at the book White Over Black by Winthrop Jordan. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  17. I see them in my front yard every day just before sunset. i was thinking about building a bat house to see if I could attract more. They help with the Florida skeeters. Hell yeah.. I love the litte flying mousies... they are very efficient at getting rid of the real blood suckers. Far more people have been harmed or killed by the diseases that mosquitos carry than all the imaginary ill intent of bats. I have quite a few flying around my property and I have gone for a couple years without a single skeeter bite
  18. The 10th does not PROTECT marijuana. Show me where marijuana is PROTECTED like I asked. Don't get me wrong, I agree the 10th applies... but the 10th does not PROTECT marijuana like the 2nd protects firearms. Of course marijuana is not named as protected by a specific amendment. That's not really how the constitution works. The federal government is supposed to be limited to those which are specifically enumerated. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  19. I've had bats in my house more than once. I used a towel to knock it down so that I could get it out of my house and a dust pan to pick it up and put it outside. Bats can be carriers of rabies and other diseases. Hard to get out, not fun. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  20. The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  21. Please post shots of the cake, sounds interesting "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  22. The altimeter for students requirement was changed (eliminated) by USPA at its summer board meeting. I don't know enough about the tandem FARs to know if it is a requirement in there or not. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  23. administrative leave? He should be charged w/ disturbing the peace, making terroristic threats, assault, and a whole host of other charges. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  24. I blame global warming. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  25. I wonder how many Americans would want a government run by these people. They have a tendency to be very exclusive.. in their desire to ostracize anyone outside their group-think. Well, I don't think I'd want those people in charge, on the other hand I don't particularly see any more threat from their "spiritual warfare prayers" than I do from their speaking in tongues. Been going on a long time and while I'm sure it is personally fulfilling and meaninful to the participants it doesn't seen to have much inpact on anybody else.
