  1. I don't want to venture into SC territory but can you explain how they are defining incidents as crime scenes? I don't get the connections or the rationale. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  2. I have, um, quite a lot of Oxy left over from breaking my leg. I don't like their effect, I am scared of the addictive potential, and I have a high pain tolerance. I tapered off of those things as fast as I could. I think I may lack the right receptors to find them pleasurable or something like that. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  3. ... and the wording of the waivers? I haven't heard of a lawsuit by someone against a dropzone that stuck... You are new. The waiver does not always hold up. Some cases are settled because the cost of winning is too high. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  4. Further, there are many smaller countries where the government is pretty awful--Somalia, UAE, and Haiti come to mind. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  5. Has it? Where? The us, china, Russia, and Australia is getting there. That's not even counting historical empires. Those are vastly different systems of government with vastly different outcomes. I would posit that the differences between them are much larger than the differences between some of those countries and much smaller countries (US and Australia w/ England for example). Empires are different. They are pretty much exploitative in design. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  6. The death penalty does nothing to further a safe society. The errors that are built into our system of justice (especially as they relate to wrongful convictions in death penalty cases) are systematic. They are not "faults" of the system so much as they are "features" of it. While it might be possible to restructure our entire system of justice so that those errors were not so much a part of the system, to continue to advocate for the death penalty in the current system is unconscionable. Frankly, the only ways I see to lower the possibilities of wrongful convictions would exacerbate the common problems with the death penalty system already (costs too much, takes too long to go through appeals). Limiting resources and appeals will only increase the number of innocent people the state puts to death. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  7. I haven't been everywhere or seen everything but I would guess RSL use is much, much higher than 50%. I'd say around 80% or more. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  8. Has it? Where? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  9. I've never understood how people get hooked on them either. They make me feel awful. I took them when I had to but got off them as soon as possible. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  10. Well, I'm not sure whether "overwhelming evidence" is a higher or lower evidentiary standard than "beyond a reasonable doubt" but the current one doesn't seem high enough to prevent wrongful convictions. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  11. Recently found out the dude graduated from the same high school I did. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  12. This is a design feature of heat pumps. Most heating systems, if you set the heat at, say, 65* is the winter, will heat the air to 115* and send it out into the house at that temp. A heat pump will only heat it to 90*. This is part of where the efficiency comes from. They will never feel as warm as other heating systems. They are also very poor at using temperature adjustment for efficiency savings. You can set your temp down to 60* during the day when you are at work but if you put it back up to 65* when you get home, well, the inefficient auxiliary heat source is usually set to kick in when the temp. differential (setting vs. actual) exceeds 3*, and you will usually lose more by using the aux. heat than you saved all day. This can be overcome to some extent by a good programmable thermostat. Freezing within the system almost surely means there is a problem somewhere within the system as it is not generally a response to the atmosphere being too cold. In my limited experience it usually means the refrigerant is low although I am sure there can be other problems that would cause freezing. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  13. I ate well today. Obviously all those stories about global hunger are made up. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  14. Things are looking up, though. I have a date Friday and was cleared for "weight-bearing as tolerated" by the doc. I am walking with one crutch and driving again. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  15. It's January 6. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  16. There is nothing inherent in the condition of being impoverished that supports the conclusion that there is a concrete danger that impoverished individuals are prone to drug use There is nothing inherent in the condition of being a public servant that supports the conclusion that there is a concrete danger that public servants or members of the military are prone to drug use. The exceptions to the need for warrants to conduct searches have nothing to do with public service. The exceptions have been grounded in public safety. I don't necessarily agree with many of those exceptions or the way they've been implemented as drug tests are required many times in ways unrelated to job duties Nonetheless there is a high bar to overcome to require warrantless searches such as drug tests and merely being the recipient of public benefits is not enough to overcome that bar. 17. For instance, here are some stock rigs available: Sunrise Manufacturing Javelin very limited colors and styles Performance Designs They have some closeouts on sale Some may offer better discounts than others. For some the main attraction of a stock rig may simply be a shorter waiting time. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  18. Skydiving retailers don't really offer seasonal sales of any type. You may get a slight break from buying a complete rig but I wouldn't assume it would be very much. You will pay for assembly and packing whether the gear store does that or your local rigger does it. The way usually to save money on a new gear purchase is to buy a stock rig, stock canopy, etc. These are items that have already been manufactured and are sitting in inventory. You won't get choices about options/colors, etc. but you can often get a pretty good discount on stock gear. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"

  20. My grandfather died in my parents house. I lived there a number of years after that and still visit regularly and never gave it a second thought. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  21. Thanks for the link, I will try to catch them, tomorrow if not tonight. I know nothing of the Parrot, having never been to Key West, just saw they were playing. I missed them in Dec. when they played here in town because I was laid up. Hoping to catch them in January. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  22. Can't the survey answers just be archived and shared when this same thing comes up every few months? "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  23. One of my favorite bands, Donna the Buffalo, is playing the Green Parrot the next three nights. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  24. I was able to buy silicon coated ripstop nylon from my local fabric store at a very cheap price (they often get it on closeouts). Silicon-coated nylon is predominantly used in outdoors applications such as tents. It is not exactly the same thing (particularly in terms of the quality control) but has enough of the same qualities that I was able to get good practice on my sewing. You can purchase parachute material through paragear and sometimes through the manufacturers. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  25. This is older, but I just ran across it the other day. Didn't read back through the whole thread to see if anybody had posted it.
