  1. Do you have a source for anybody recommending 175-200 vaccines? The CDC says they recommend 16: http://www.cdc.gov/vaccinesafety/vaccines/multiplevaccines.html "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  2. Got a Link? MMR are but three of 175... You're being Penn & Teller-ish. Former Eastern Bloc nations have other variables to be considered. I've already posted a link to the study. There are dozens of others. There are literally no studies except the Wakefield one which show any link between vaccines and autism. Wakefield was a very small study (12 kids) which showed a purported link between MMR and one very specific type of Autism and its associated irritable bowel symptoms. On investigation some of the 12 children did not have autism. Others had been diagnosed or shown strong signs prior to their vaccination. It was a fraud. 3. Here you go: http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed/19522237 There are dozens of studies showing no relationship between vaccination and autism. There is one study showing a relationship, the Wakefield study. That one was based on fraudulent data, was withdrawn by the Lancet, and the researcher was stripped of his medical license. Of course you have dozens or even hundreds of Youtube videos still asserting such a link, so it has that going for it. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  4. Vaccines do not cause autism. The one studied which said they did has been totally discredited. For a good counter example, do some research into Poland. In Poland the MMR vaccine was not required until the last couple of years. The rate of autism in the unvacinnated was higher than in the vaccinated population. That is not to imply that vaccines don't carry any risk but autism is not one of them. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  5. It is based on a household survey: http://www.bls.gov/cps/cps_htgm.htm#unemployed "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  6. Mostly red wine for me. I love Willamette Valley Pinot Noirs. I will drink a margarita out once in a while but am not much of a hard liquor drinker. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  7. I want to go skiing :-( Next winter. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  8. In my state you have to provide proof of legal presence to get a driver's license. Not all states are the same rules, though. In my state the application to vote is exactly the same regardless of where you get it. Motor-voter law just makes it that the DMV has those applications on site. You must supply a social security number when registering to vote. There is no higher ability to register illegally at the DMV or at the local registrar (or by mail, which is also valid). 9. That is not how the unemployment rate is calculated. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  10. I gave away a coupon I won for money off an audible. I had just bought an audible. I think it was $75 off an N2 or something like that. I had no use for it. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  11. Make sure your container fits the proper size reserve canopy in it. And fits in the middle of the range, not in the "it can be shoehorned in there" range or the "it's smaller than I like but I will probably be OK" range. Decide on reserve first, main second, container third. Maybe you've already done this. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  12. GPS is fairly poor at getting an accurate altitude reading for technical reasons: http://gpsinformation.net/main/altitude.htm This can be corrected somewhat with higher cost (and often larger) receivers but this is not a practical fit for altimeters and AADs. They will remain less accurate for altitude than for horizontal distance. I'm sure there are people who can offer you a more technical explanation but GPS is simply not the right tool for the job in this case. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  13. I got the email offering the free credit monitoring service. I did not use target at all during the period of the breach and I am at best an infrequent shopper there. I have no idea how they got my email. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  14. I would personally run away from that rig. I would recommend not buying a rig on Ebay at all. To answer your question specifically about reserves, though--the fabric does not degrade with time if it has been well cared for and stored correctly. However it does degrade with handling (packing). It is a huge difference if the rig has been in continuous service and packed 50+ times or if it has been sitting stored in a cool, dry, dark closet for years. Some countries set life-limits on gear. Some riggers will not pack old gear (20 years is a common standard). Some might be willing to pack it is it has porosity testing (this is a requirement for PD canopies after 40 pack jobs or 25 deployments, just for comparisons sake). Check with your local rigger for guidance. Some reserves will be old models which may be outdated and not as good or appropriate as a newer model (even if a seasoned hand at your DZ might continue to jump one). A 1982 rig is very likely an outdated model. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  15. Expect no sympathy from me, you deserve what you get... "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  16. ugh! It didn't post my smileys after that statement. I also couldn't edit. . Fine I'll like beer but that doesn't mean I have to drink it. As long as you buy it... "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  17. It is possible for the rigger to verify the presence of a cutter, as Vigil specified that riggers should do through the magnet testtest: http://www.vigil.aero/wp-content/uploads/roduct_Service_Bulletin_-_PSB_8_-_2011-10-20.pdf I do agree that the failure was on the factory, not the rigger. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  18. That was an MPAAD, not an M2. It is an earlier generation device from MARS. I do not know if the cutter is the same or different. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  19. Thank goodness, I thought you were going to post that they had run out of weed. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  20. The ER does not have to treat for such conditions. They do have to screen but here are the lmits of EMTALA: To comply with EMTALA, the participating hospitals must provide within its capabilities a nondiscriminatory medical screening examination (MSE) to determine if the patient has an emergency medical condition. An emergency medical condition is defined as "a condition manifesting itself by acute symptoms of sufficient severity, such as severe pain, for which the lack of immediate medical attention could reasonably be expected to result in placing the patient in serious jeopardy, serious impairment to bodily functions, or serious dysfunction of any bodily organ or part." Also, hospitals which do not accept Medicaid or Medicare have no obligations under EMTALA. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  21. I created a facebook account so I could keep track of my daughter's accounts. I have found it a great way to keep in touch with friends I've had at various points in my life (I've lived a lot of places and done a lot of things so have many different people I've been friends with at different times/places). I have also increasingly found that it is the place where I find information about social events including DZ events, knowing when bands I like are playing, etc. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  22. Yeah, that makes Bill Booth look trimmed up short. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  23. The odds are good but the goods are odd. Goes for Alaska and Skydivers both. "What if there were no hypothetical questions?"
  24. Can I just say how much I hate this "advice" from experienced jumpers to new jumpers. It reinforces a very unhealthy culture in which quick downsizing is the expectation. It leads new jumpers to buy gear which is not right for them and pushes them to downsize too rapidly (because now their main is way too tight in their container, among other things).
