  4. ....you made me also just reminded me about a lady in the hospital room beside me that was booked for surgery and in preparation had to be shaved clean (in that area..) The nurses were going crazy because this lady refused .....told them her husband was the only one that she would trust..... Her husband arrived in time and proceded without a problem, when the nurses asked how he did such a good job he replied....all I did was say "hon, you know the face I make when I shave my face..with one side taught...." and then asked her to do the same..... 6. anyone try flying high ----zipping?? http://www.ziptrek.com Conveyance is via a steel pulley system with sealed bearings. The tiny wheels spin as fast as 10,000 rpm as you reach speeds of 70 km/h before the slack in the line slows your descent. With construction quality carabiners on the line, and wearing complete body harness that is double roped to the pulley...you kick off from a tree platform, soar for up to 29 seconds and the guides on the other side catch you. Ziptreck Ecotours has strung an 800-metre network of cables across Fitzsimmons Creek, (gulley dividing Whistler Mnt. from Blackcomb-Vancouver B.C.) The longest line is 350 metres and cocky zipters can experiment with inverted flights...bottoms up across the valley floor. Smiles
  7. hey-all I know is I still have "Geek Brothers" t-shirts back to 1997, always headed for Kapowsin for Geek boogie -and many years headed to Lost Prairie after. anyway- logged a jump May 1998 6-way from our Porter with fellow named "Zeek",..was watching it on old video of mine. His rw skills were not the greatest- but Zeek was very happy landing, walked back from the peas with him and he was saying how great it was to be in freefall with me and how I had such a great rate of fall to stay with him the whole dive. Then he passed out. A couple fellows had their first aid tickets and went to work on him, ambulance came...he died of heart attack on the way to hospital. Then I found out that he was "Zeek the Geek" and had started the Geek Brothers. There was a story behind that - but I was too much in shock to catch it all. That year we went to Geek Brothers in Kapowsin (July 25), where a large formation was done for Zeek. Also headed for the Lost Prairie Boogie right after..(Aug.2nd) So- have never to this day got the story of the Geek Brothers...... Smiles
  8. Is this not where spokesperson from U.S.P.A. step in and announce to the press in support of the sport and d.z.?? Smiles
  9. I feel for you... I have definitly learned the hard way- "back-up" your files........ I have also lost expensive software (in cd player) If your harddrive has crashed, they are not that expensive and easy to replace. Once replaced your cd player should eject like normal??? My harddrives usually last about 2 yrs.- The only fortunate thing about purchasing extended warranties is: my 40gb crashed awhile back and within 2 days Gateway sent to my door a replacement (80gb, maybe bigger hd last longer??)....... Old harddrive was not grinding/clicking-making any unusual noise..but crashed after power outage. Before replacing my new harddrive checked my surge protector to find I had a lifetime product warranty worth $25,000 on connected equipment... bla bla- good luck Mandy! Smiles
  10. the prickster is pricking with the most gorgeous d.z. I have ever jumped at again??? any interest?....LARGE.... Smiles Vancouver, B.C.
  11. TCPA stands for the Trusted Computing Platform Alliance, an initiative led by Intel. Their stated goal is `a new computing platform for the next century that will provide for improved trust in the PC platform.' Palladium is software that Microsoft says it plans to incorporate in future versions of Windows; it will build on the TCPA hardware, and will add some extra features. TCPA /Palladium provides a computing platform on which you can't tamper with the applications, and where these applications can communicate securely with the vendor. The obvious application is digital rights management (DRM) Disney will be able to sell you DVDs that will decrypt and run on a Palladium platform, but which you won't be able to copy. The music industry will be able to sell you music downloads that you won't be able to swap. They will be able to sell you CDs that you'll only be able to play three times, or only on your birthday. All sorts of new marketing possibilities will open up. TCPA/Palladium will also make it much harder for you to run unlicensed software. Pirate software can be detected and deleted remotely. Software companies can also make it harder for you to switch to their competitors' products; for example, Word could encrypt all your documents using keys that only Microsoft products have access to; this would mean that you could only read them using Microsoft products, not with any competing word processor. TCPA provides for a monitoring and reporting component to be mounted in future PCs. The preferred implementation in the first phase of TCPA is a `Fritz' chip - a smartcard chip or dongle soldered to the motherboard. When you boot up your PC, Fritz takes charge. He checks that the boot ROM is as expected, executes it, measures the state of the machine; then checks the first part of the operating system, loads and executes it, checks the state of the machine; and so on. The trust boundary, of hardware and software considered to be known and verified, is steadily expanded. A table is maintained of the hardware (audio card, video card etc) and the software (O/S, drivers, etc); Fritz checks that the hardware components are on the TCPA approved list, that the software components have been signed, and that none of them has a serial number that has been revoked. If there are significant changes to the PC's configuration, the machine must go online to be re-certified. The result is a PC booted into a known state with an approved combination of hardware and software (whose licences have not expired). Control is then handed over to enforcement software in the operating system - this will be Palladium if your operating system is Windows. The specification was published in 2000. Atmel is already selling a Fritz chip, and although you need to sign a non-disclosure agreement to get a data sheet, you have been able to buy it installed in the IBM Thinkpad series of laptops since May 2002. Some of the existing features in Windows XP and the X-Box are TCPA features: for example, if you change your PC configuration more than a little, you have to reregister all your software with Redmond. Also, since Windows 2000, Microsoft has been working on certifying all device drivers: if you try to load an unsigned driver, XP will complain. http://www.againsttcpa.com/tcpa-faq-en.html Smiles

    Superwomen??????

Congrats on changing your life style, be proud- respect yourself I figure if you keep a good balance in your life- all is well. I swear I will be smokin the weed occationally when I'm in a rockin chair.....here in Canada the laws are being changed (legalized) as their is no studies to prove that smoking weed is addicting or harmful to your health. Is speed addicting? I certainly didn't think so when I experimented with it years back, tried it and didn't enjoy the experience myself (rattling teeth, no appetite - "speeding" wasn't pleasurable) Obvious if your friend has lost weight, using it must be something she enjoys as it is not physically addicting as far as I know?? Could be way more problems within than the drug use itself. Educate yourself about the drug, as others have commented, your friend has to want to help herself- Near our d.z. there is a center for drug addicts and alot get out on day passes to come by the d.z. and watch people having a really great time. When I look at their blank faces I feel like they have completely lost the pleasure center in their brain. It is so sad because the joy and ecstasy we feel skydiving- they may never be capable of experiencing without the use of drugs. Smiles
  24. Our Premier is an ass!! Maui police pulled over B.C. Premier Gordon Campbell a month ago after noticing he was driving erratically. He failed a number of roadside sobriety tests and at police headquarters blew .149 in a breathalyser test, nearly double the illegal limit. He was charged with drunk driving and spent the night in jail. Campbell also stands to lose his B.C. driver's licence for one year. The new charges laid by Maui prosecutors - failure to drive on the right side of the road, disregarding traffic lane markings and speeding - are traffic violations, with fines as the only penalties. The drunk-driving charge includes a maximum penalty of five days in jail and a $1,000 fine. The Maui police report released last month said Campbell's vehicle was travelling more than 110 kilometres an hour in a 70 km/h zone. Campbell's vehicle swerved into the southbound lane, then jerked back into the northbound lane and into the roadside bicycle lane, police said. Campbell said he had been at some friends' home where he consumed three martinis he mixed himself and two or three glasses of wine before deciding to drive...... But first convictions in Hawaii usually result in a 90-day driving prohibition, a mandatory 14-hour, state-run alcohol information course, community-service hours and a minimum fine of $150 US. ------------------------------------------------------ hoping premiers get charged equally as any of us would for drunk driving-----but then again us skydivers are more intelligent to drink and drive. Smiles
  25. awesome job on the website, good to get your link! Love cruising down to Kapowsin from Vancouver and has been many years since we stopped for some jumps there also. For some reason figured not many experienced jumpers? Will keep checking on your boogie this year. Could you tell me if I have logged over 1000 jumps with CSPA "D" license and insurance- can I land at Harvey or do you still land out in the field?? thanx, Smiles
