from a different perspective... In 1987 my first jump was tandem- I had absolutely no idea about flight- had not watched any video- had no visualization in my head what the experience would be like- except for a still pic of tandem with passenger smiling. I had never felt fear to the extent I did on that jump in my life....I was stunned, in shock and left d.z. very quitely...it took weeks to piece the jump together and try to squeeze recall of each second... I could recall the exhilerating feeling in freefall stable, the opening and flying under canopy was so drastically peaceful in comparison to freefall-- as I could not recall the launch I was so intrigued to head back and try this sport again. I completed my training back then with static line progression because my desire was to experience that tandem again. Learning to fly has not been easy for me and no sport has helped me develop my skills....as a child I do not even recall pretending to fly or dreaming of flying....although I did jump off my front porch with an umbrella open over my head!! I feel that what has helped me develop the most is understanding "the merging of action and awareness" and my mental attitude towards it....along with the fact that thought destroys flow. example: A tennis player who is intensely aware of the ball, and hitting it, does not reflect on the act of awareness....They are not bothered by thoughts such as: am I doing well, or did anyone see that shot?...once the second is split by thought it destroys the flow....the player has perceived their action from the outside....and flow halts. The clarity of response that I receive while skydiving offers fast and direct feedback. There is no sense of myself in the period of flow, but merging of action and awareness. My body receives the sense of ecstasy associated with the most intense moments of flow.... My skydiving developed when action and reaction became so well practised it was automatic/ I was able to leave the aircraft and fly....without thought of how to do it. Smiles

Most every year, like clockwork, arrives the "flu." I have never had a flu shot- or seemed to get anything so bad as what I have just got over. Always figured that it is best to build up your own bodies resistance to these "bugs." Now my opinion has changed after 2 weeks of hell- then 16 days in the hospital,.. discharged today, and scared shitless. I personally do not want to ever suffer like this again....what happened to March?? Hoping to be strong enough for a skydive soon Whence comes this punctual visitor, so reliable that the calendar can be minutely corrected based on the predictability of its arrival? In the recent past, rhythmic flu arrivals were named, as are hurricanes. There was the "Hong Kong Flu," the "Malaysian Flu," the "Asian Flu." The names hinted that the virus originated in the orient??? Sure makes me wonder about SARS.... http://www.mtv.com/music/video/premiere/sigur_ros/ video: untitled #1 Icelandic soundscape rockers Sigur Rós video is emotionally stirring, absorbing creation that is equally haunting and hopeful. The new video takes a glimpse into a not-too-distant future that seems both disturbing and otherworldly, but is in fact an all-too prescient warning of humanity's potential course. Smiles

I cannot see the reasons MJ was made illegal- it is very encouraging to see my country working towards legalizing it. - in 15 yrs. have never once seen police officers in uniform or narcs present/ anyone arrested- at my d.z. We all strive to keep it that way "out of respect" for our d.z. Smiles B.C. Canada

http://drivers.on-line.net.nz/ {Download drivers} No, you can't get your driver's license at this site. Statistics: 23,245 devices, 3106 vendors, 52,489 files. With numbers like that, it's easy to believe the site's slogan, "Welcome to the only device driver site you'll ever need." Drivers On-Line finds the software to match your hardware. You can use the Driver Wizard to quickly find the right drivers instead of going to a product's vendor (and getting lost on their unusable Web site in search of the needed drivers). All the drivers and software available from this site are stored as ZIP files, so you will need to have software to extract the individual files from them. If you're using Win9x/NT, there is the option of downloading any driver as an executable file, thus avoiding the need to install any additional software. The Web site has a free Driver Wizard available for downloading and running to identify the components you have on the PC. After it completes the evaluation, click on the link to go to the Web site and get a list of the latest drivers available. Smiles

...ya hoo for you!! good news no doubt!! My ACL left knee is not intact (snapped completely apart)...I had arthroscopy to trim torn minicus-and it never locked again..but took almost a year to train the 3 other ligaments to work harder!! Still baby it landing under canopy (bought a triathlon)...do my own kinda accuracy so I do not have to run it off... hey- we do not need 4 ligaments in our knee, 3 can and will do the job as long as you do not twist your knee the wrong way, ya can still rawk!! It is extremely well worth it to follow your docs instructions now...take it easy....especially while blasted on pain meds! SMiles

I am very close to - 2 months of not watching t.v./ I initially couldn't believe how hard it was- first to move the big box downstairs and then to set up my stereo equipment in the empty corner upstairs. Then to adjust to just going downstairs to watch a particular show of my choosing... Then I stopped going downstairs to watch any t.v./ What I enjoy the most is eating at our table without t.v. on in the background...everyone talks????? Sitting in our living room- was so bare at first, now it is comfortable without a t.v. as main center point... Hell- next I will cut off the t.v. cable as no one seems to be watching it anyway now..... * note to self: turn the rec room into exercise room. Smiles

a Canadian Apology to the United States (hillarious)
smiles replied to goose491's topic in The Bonfire
lol, of course he is an idiot???...he makes a living pissing people off- saying he is an idiot implies you are one. Saturical comedy----some viewers may not share his sense of humor...others misconstrue/misconceive... (interpet wrongly) American beauty eh? Rick Mercer pulls some yankee leg...? and you guys take it seriously?? Mercer substituting the word poutine - a Quebec mix of french fries, gravy and cheese curds - for the name Chretien. "Prime Minister Jean Poutine said he wouldn't endorse any candidate in this election, now he says he believes George W. Bush is the man to lead the free world into the 21st century." The prank shows that American presidential candidate George W. Bush and another politician don't know the name of Canada's prime minister. and who really gives a $#**## anyway...I am a Canadian born and raised- ya it is funny, but it is comedy and comedy is sometimes funny??????? Happily enough for comic Rick Mercer, Americans don't seem to know any better....They offer up their opinion so freely. But even if they come from institutions of higher learning, they don't know what they're talking about. Why do you think they feel they can just weigh in with an opinion? Mercer: I think they stop and talk because, not only do Americans like to go on at great lengths on subjects they nothing about, they are also incredibly generous. And when they hear that I'm from Canada, they want to help out because, well, "Canada, they're our friends. Plus, no one will see this," because we're from somewhere else. Should Canada go to a 24-hour clock? Did you know that Prime Minister Jean Chrétien is black? Or that we have a king named Lucienne Bonhomme? And how about the news that Mayor Mel Lastman has reinstated the Toronto polar bear hunt?..or congratulations Canada- on making "Beaver Balls" your national dish...There's Canadian beer??? Sure, if you're a girl. :-) ...or a moose. Canadians testiment of awesome power:.....socialized medicine/ invention of ice hockey/ miracle of insulin........eh? Where's your toque eh? live in igloo's eh?....bacon and beer eh? Caustic Canadian comic Rick Mercer asked the people of Canada if they would require Alliance party leader Stockwell Day to change his first name to "Doris", making his name "Doris Day". Even Rick was astonished at the response - nearly half a million people voted "yes." Marg- the princess warrior for liberal party leader of Canada (Mary Walsh) pic attached, what a riot! As a child, Mercer recalls, “my grades were so bad I wasn’t allowed to watch much television. But my parents always watched the news, so that was my TV entertainment.” The basic premise when you’re doing satire is that the people watching your show have some idea what’s going on, so they know what you’re talking about. In America, what passes as satire is kind of ‘the president is fat and eats burgers’ and now people know about this Monica Lewinsky thing. Other than that, it’s difficult to perform satire in the United States because they really don’t pay much attention to it. In Canada, people seem to have more of an interest and are more willing to go there.” "We piss people off all the time," laughs Mercer. "There are a number of lawyers that do nothing but read our scripts on a regular basis. Essentially, the best rule of thumb is if it’s true, then you can say it all you want. If you’re making it up, you’re getting in trouble." ...hell I remember in grade 1 we lined up outside the school and waited for our Candian flag to be raised, and sang "Oh Canada"...then someone decided that wasn't fair.... Snow in Pitt Meadows for CSPA AGM
smiles replied to riggerrob's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
the little dusting we got you call snow?? I drove into richmond airport at 7 a.m. and saw 3 flakes in Van....ahh, Sat./Sun. should be fine (speedstars???) Smiles -
Rhino, I am impressed for sure- awesome job! Some say black background with white font is hard to read...so if you go for lite gray font sometimes easier on the eye balls. Also blue font on black hard to read also depending on shade of blue... I also go for vector graphic rather than .gif...your logo is very cool (.gif files get jaggy when enlarged) as when in .jpg format can change size without distorting....attached a .jpg of your logo/ Smiles
