I video'd Mandy Patinkin and his sons tandem and I am here to tell ya.... he was a lot braver facing someone with a 3' pigsticker than he was jumping outta the plane but he did jump

call around to your local motorcycle repair shops, I had a new cable made on my chevy by taking the housing and ends of the cable, if they have a swager and a spool of cable its an easy fix, cant recall what it cost but since I was really poor at the time I am pretty sure it was less than 50$ - of course this assumes you have swaged ends... good luck Roy edit: you may also be able to purchase the swager and cable from a hardware store They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

my fx opened hard to very hard on most jumps no matter how it was packed, my rigger sewed up a new larger slider (I dont recall the increased dimensions but it was more of an increase front to back) and the openings are pain free now Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

wow... an awesome shit sandwitch there...one I honestly havent ever thought about. screwed if you do... or dont, you jumped you lived and since it was your butt in the saddle you made a call and it worked, were the lines on the reserve twisted badly? if so you may have never gained a good reserve once you chopped, if they were untwisted you probably would have had a clean reserve deployment. was it ever determined what caused the reserve to fire? keeping it was chancy at best, but it worked. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.
-
... but I guess I will edit it to add that, it's implied that an RSL has already deployed the reserve. *** terrible assumption.... we were in a the trail plane on a state record attempt and a guy on the other bench across from me on every jump his rsl was disconnected and just hanging open, his response when I pointed it out each time was "this damn thing does it everytime I pack... he didnt seem to appreciate my observation that he should replace it or just stow it away rather than use a defective piece of equipment. they can fail for many reasons. practice practice practice and pull for yourself. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

I did to, until I became a Father...now one of the best sounds in the world is the sound of kids laughing! I even get tickled when I hear a baby crying on an aircraft....instead of annoyed like I would have when I was younger....... My son is one of the best things to ever happen to my life! *** exactly, couldnt say it any better than you just did

that is some of the most awesome pics I have seen recently!!

me and my family discussed the subject years ago and they agreed not to sue anyone in the event of my death in the sport, I believe they wouldnt but grief can make people do irrational things and place blame where it doesnt belong. my mother was more worried about me desert racing and motocross than she ever was about skydiving Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... What about all the 1,000 + jump people who hook themselves in? There are lots of them but nobody says they were under the wrong wing. Perhaps it is not such a good feeling to gloat about a more experienced jumper fucking up *** yup, A high jump number does not prevent mistakes, running a high wingload adds more risk to every jump you make, things happen fast, but the more jumps you have gives you a larger bubble of awareness that will help you identify a problem or mistake sooner and correct it... most of the time where do you get gloating? Its disgust at a situation that just keeps on repeating over the years. Jumping a high w/l at low jumps is like purchasing a formula one team, then firing the driver and taking his place because you have never had an accident and believe your lack of incidents proves that your qualified. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

if their was a lotto for that I would buy a ticket, and I know there are a lot of people who would jump at the chance. but am thinking fuck the sissy drugs, lets try hydrochloric acid in the IV - oh, and no swabbing the injection site either! Does anybody know how reliable Ralph Hadley is? *** I have had a great customer experience with Ralph, I have bought 4 canopy's from him over the years - three new, one used plus a lot of misc gear as well. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

I walked into an awesome deal from hell on my first rig, it was actually two complete rigs - one RW, one CRW, suits, helmets, goggles, etc for 1,000$ from a jumper who was leaving the sport. I used them for 400 jumps before passing them on and broke even cost wise. buy used, you will never get your money back out of new equipment. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

1)be friendly and introduce yourself - wallflowers are often overlooked 2)expect to run into some mediocre asshats with inflated ego's that wont jump with you 3)make friends by hanging around the dz after hours *(with beer does help) 4)listen to all the *no shit there I was... thought I was gonna die story's. 5)dont inflate your skills, people will find out soon enough how well you fly 6)ask manifest to hook you up with anyone organizing low timer loads or with individual jumpers who go out of their way to fly with lowtimers 7)be yourself *(unless your an asshat yourself) 8)at larger dropzones its often hard to break into the click unless your a petite blond with big hooters, so dont get discouraged. 9)some dz's may not click with you, you may find the atmosphere isnt something you like, go elsewhere - there are a lot of dz's out there - try them all and find the right fit for you *pssst *(try elsinore - awesome people)

Oh My God!!! I just realized that I qualify for POPS!!

I actually qualify for POPS.*** HAH!! welcome to my world ya old fart!!! Roy -
So if I am a military static line jumpmaster does that count as a rating in my profile on here. thats kind of a gray area since static line jumps in the sport world are taught a lot different than in the military. but I say list it, you are a jumpmaster after all. myself on my rig - sub 5 min packs, but could speed it up to 4 min when necessary. - funny thing about some of the fastest packs where all I did was cock the pilot chute, clear the nose and wrap the tail then put in the bag....most were some of the nicest slowest openings *(mostly) a few though were some of the wildest openings too tandem rig - sub 5 min pack - A friend of mine started working for skydive LV - I dropped off a van there for him and his girlfriend when they moved there, while there I hung out at the dz I noticed everyone crowding around one area in the packing area so I wandered over and asked whats up - was told that the packer was going to be timed on packing a tandem rig in under 5 min - so I had to watch, he started with nothing ready, breaks were not stowed - drogue wasnt cocked..nothing, the guy moved like a rabbit on crack and easily had it done, and I saw nothing that he did that would make me hesitate to use that pack either. fastest sport rig pack I have seen is 3 min and it was a clean pack, if the guy would trash pack I think he could hit around 2 min. Jihadi Meetingplace shut Down in Germany; 9/11 Conspirators Gathered There

this is why you dont see the muslim community policing themselves like some say they should.... This is the biggest load of bollocks and gets spouted so much in SC really? so are you saying if they speak out against the violent idiots that they have nothing to fear? - I hope your merely trying to yank some chains with that statement or that I am misunderstanding you. "They" - (who ever They are) Police their comunity NO different from the way we do ... We don't police our terrorists (we don't police any of the crimal classes) - We get the POLICE to do so..... 20 years ago I restrained a thief that was breaking into our car till the police showed up and made the arrest - good enough? *(granted it was nearly a quarter century ago... but in my world it doesnt occur very often) If I found myself in a position where I could take down a terrorist or a murderer I like to think I would react no differently than I did with that thieving bastard, however - if it was against an organization with a reputation of extreme violence It would be a very limited set of circumstances that would make me put my son at risk. Call me a coward for that, I can completely understand those who fly under the radar to protect family So what do you actually mean? What do you want the general population of Muslims/Yanks/Brits or any other group to ACTUALLY do? *** I can understand why overall they dont speak out against the violence, its one thing to do something that is likely to lead to your death, its another to put your loved ones in the gunsights of some stupid fucker with the mentality out of the stone age - And why are you asking me? this is what I wrote - *** this is why you dont see the muslim community policing themselves like some say they should.... 280lbs - WTF am I going to do?
D22369 replied to BjornTheBear's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Ralph Hatly (1800-callralph) used to rent a tandem rig modified for big boys, if you do find a dz willing to take you up but lacks a rig, if its a dz he is familiar with he may be willing to send the rig for your use, will cost you extra on a per jump basis plus shipping to get it there, but most dz's are probably not going to have something on hand that will accomodate you. Call Ralph and verify that he still has it prior to talking to the dz would be my suggestion so you dont get your hopes up. Roy Ps: daym you be big! Pps: dont give up, it can be done They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it. -
Jihadi Meetingplace shut Down in Germany; 9/11 Conspirators Gathered There

I wrote a post last year that called attention to some Iraqi Imams who were consistently outspoken against violence, all the way up until they were killed by extremists themselves. *** this is why you dont see the muslim community policing themselves like some say they should, they have family that would pay the price - the whackjobs will kill muslims who they deem to not be muslim enough without a second thought. I got curious and read some of the koran, I found it to be a book of intolerance, and it has a decidedly do not forgive message, I was told that since I read a translated book that I didnt get the whole message - but with what I did read I wonder how someone gets a religion of peace from it... the author had definate anger issues coupled with a huge ego. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it. -
I haven't ever seen a dual loop setup, would never use one myself as closing loops are easy to make and replace, easy to examine and determine whether to replace them, and a closing loop in good condition isn't going to break - they last for a long time - if you run into someone who wears them out fast and needs two then you have found someone who needs to learn to pack. Roy They say I suffer from insanity.... But I actually enjoy it.

I video'd a tandem years ago that opened so fast that all I could think of was OMG they are hurt.... granted it was back in the day and it was on a vector rig with the old huge F-111 canopy's - when the drogue release was pulled they normally had a huge trap door effect to a big snivel, but not on this day, the canopy was fully deployed before thier bodies were vertical. the TI had a visit to the ER, missed three weeks of work and many visits to the chiropractor - the student was fine somehow. Both the TI and the student were in good physical shape. On the modern icarus and set canopy's I have seen a few slammers that ended the TI's jumping for the day or to grab the ibuprofen and take a break for a while. any parachute can have a dangerously hard opening, its just a chance you take.
