  1. yea its been known to happen... meet a girl in a bar, start talking to her, some other guy overhears part of the conversation and chimes in with "yea?well I....." its sort of like what happens when random bar dude finds out a pretty girl skydives... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  2. I plan to use mine on every skydive. I'm happy when I don't have to. its the only canopy i rely on, which is why i'm equally picky about who packs it..sure every rigger may be qualified, but i'd rather know and trust implicitly the one who packs mine... they main i'll take chances with but my reserve?? i've always found it a bit strange that most reserves are significantly cheaper new than an equally modern main and i'll never understood why anyone would 'cut costs' by jumping anything less than one of the latest most reliable canopies available for their 'last chance' ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  3. softball? last refuge of the has beens and never was? say no more..... some peoples strings are sooo much fun to pull ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  4. you might try fooling the player... put in a CD that works start it playing eject the CD without stoping the player then put in the NIN disk... some of the copy protection schemes work by making the player think its not a audio disk... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  5. for more than 300 jumps i've had no issues at all.. in fact i had more problems with the Sorz when they flipped up and i lost a contact in the middle of a flocking dive... sucks to be taken out by your own goggles... it really depends on how well the glasses fit your face, i found a pair in perris that left very little room around the top of my cheek bones so i bought them immediately.. ive seen several other styles that wouldnt work as well for me... fortunately i dont have the contacts to worry about anymore at all...
  6. i once met someone who claimed (in a "i'm kinkier than you" discussion) to be into cold showers with live cats.....i'd almost pay money to see that....except i'd feel sorry for the cats.. what with the consentual issues and all.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  7. hmm i've looked around and seen where the 'dork' crowd ended up in comparison with those reliving the glory days of high school football... yea seems we made the right choice.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

  10. I vote for flames. nah it needs to play up the whole 'Jetsons' look it already has... like a docking platform for the mothership.....hmmm maybe we could get George Clinton to play here on opening day... whenever that is.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  11. Welcome to my world, where terms are used and misused. Do legal arguments come down to semantics? You're damned straight. That's how rules get overturned - semantics. yea that was the reason i could never be a lawyer ( although i do LOVE a good argument) you have to agree on definitions BEFORE you can even begin negotiations... seems like the legal world has that completely backwards... lawyers and judges should have to write 'design decision and specification' documents (ala software development) that way there would be reference to exactly what the intent was behind every definition and how those defintions affected the verdict.. then we wouldnt have to rehash arguements over terms like 'well regulated' ... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  12. forgot about Davenport's was taken there by the same girl who i stayed with in OR... its very good pizza for AL but it doesnt cut it nationally... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  13. hmmm there have been alot... pizza is a really tough thing to be the 'best' at there are soooo many variations and subtleties... there was one in Medford OR that was really good, but i cant recall the name (was a VERY drunken month) and there is always Vinny Van GoGo's in Savannah GA... but if i'm there its gonna have to be a calzone...then a few drinks at the Bar Bar ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  14. unfortunately i know many people who are very mean drunks, for the most part they recognize this about themselves and avoid alcohol for recreational use in favor of more amiable intoxicants... also equally unfortunately some policies would rather they drink, fight, get stupid and break themselves doing things they wouldnt consider under any 'other' influence..... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  15. actually this is misusing the definition of delivery.. in your email example the email actually leaves your (virtual) location, goes somewhere else (the mail server) and returns.. a jumper never leaves the park.. unless the courts are using a different dictionary than the rest of the english speaking world this shouldnt apply... the only way you could stretch it is if you consider the 'delivery' the act of jumping itself (as in a pitcher 'delivers' a pitch) but then you would also have to prosecute anyone who tosses gear to another person during any activity in the park... the real problem is the goverment's (and the judge's) inability to admit they might have been mistaken in past rulings and act to correct it... "stop making sense, you work for the goverment and we dont pay you for that....." ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  16. I do. i do to.. but i bet we disagree.... but unfortunately alot of the local vibe has faded and i find myself travelling to find the same 'home' i once felt every weekend... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  17. hmm either that is a 'standard' spiel (for South West at least) or i happened to fly with the same attendent once... infact this part bolded for variance was dead on with a minor addition.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  18. i cant say ive seen a movie that was so divided opinion-wise in adult peer groups... after discussing it with LOTS of people it seems to come down to your experiences in that time frame (high school) If you were a member of the 'beautiful people' cheerleaders, jocks etc... you probably think the movie was completely stupid and cant relate at all... if you were one of the 'outcasts' you are far more likely to 'get it' seem like as people grow up the distinctions and divisions become blurred... there really isnt much in the way of plot, the movie is entirely about the characters.... some people can empathize.. others cannot... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  19. Might want to edit that exactly what i was thinking... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  20. get really good at flying in a stand/tight sit position.... most of the 'floaty' types i jump with have to stand at 'average' sit fly speeds.. they should also be adjusting to you some (fall rate is about compromise), but if everyone else has to backfly to stay with you as a base, you are probably going to slow... of course that also means you can spend LOTS of time on your head... I know a few light girls who can fly daffy with me on my belly.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  21. my speculation is that "up" comes from "pick up" because for the most part "up jumpers" will not be 'driving' the loads, but instead picking up slots on loads driven by tandems, students and team training... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  22. highly hammered.. finishing this last beer and debating driving to eloy in the morning...how you doin? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
  23. from playing with my alarms (pro track, a borrowed ditter and the neptune that i can hear if my hands are close enough)...during a variety of dives.. i'd say (in freeflying at least) that a 1000 ft gap isnt going to be very useful... remember your when your audible goes off that is where you were i tend to set my (primary) audible lower than the altitudes i 'need' to do something at.. that way i know if i hear it, generally i've fucked up.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

  25. i agree, but i prefer to remember them on birthdays etc... not the day we lost them and i dont see the need for a 'special day' unless your also then going to petition the govt to recognize it as a sacred holiday for skydivers and require that we get it off to jump in rememberance... hell i'll trade a few other religious holidays.. oh wait.. i do that already.. easter, xmas.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
