Not true. I also know what the word spoon means. Why would I want to pre-suppose the answer before I start looking for it? Forget it, this is going nowhere. your not presuposing an answer, you are defining the parameters of the search... God is many things depending on perspective and veiwer.. but your right, with your attitude your search will go exactly nowhere.. you cant expect to find anything if you cant be bothered to look.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Suzuki GSX-R1000 @ 174mph accident (VERY GRAPHIC!)
Zenister replied to BillyVance's topic in The Bonfire
I agree, however, do you condone high speed riding on public roads? That's much different then a skydiving fatality. If he would have been on a track and this happened, that's one thing, but on a public road...that's beyond reasonable. depends on time and conditions.... public roads ARE for the use of the public of which he was a member... doing it on an otherwise empty road is much different than splitting lanes during rush hour... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
which is totally a matter of training and currency...I have been on projects in the past where (after a few months of breathing it) base 16 was more 'natural' than base 10..as with any definition the only thing that is really important is consistency.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

You said (and I quote) What the blue blazes does "the divinity is in the detail" mean? Do I need a microscope? How do I know when I've located a lump of divinity? What happens when I poke it with a stick? Does it smell? But if I need to join a commune, unblock my chakra's and learn how to bend spoons with the awesome psionic power of my own karmic hemorrhoids, then forget I asked. of those words, i suspect that 'hemoriod' is the only one you grasp the meaning of...so perhaps i should forget you asked, but really What do you expect to find when you look for 'god'? are you really looking? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Most dangerous religion for the future of the world

Yes shouldnt you caveat that with "as long as its MY God you have a relationship with?" or are you also willing to admit that there is more to God than your Bible states, and that it is possible to have a relationship with the divine that has NOTHING to do with the Christian definition? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
Isn't that usually the Devil? If the best you can come up with is hey look at that tree, isn't it pretty, therefore God exists; then I'm sorry I asked. "The New Age Movement is a very broad, feel-good, movement. It teaches inner-divinity, goddesses, the Christ consciousness, spiritual evolution, being one-with-nature, and anything else you want to believe -- except Christianity." New Age Movement (e.g. Pantheism) More on New Age Movement such nice blinders you have there,.. do they come embroidered with the crucifix? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

US Supremes may examine legality of ceremonial tea

none whatsoever... so long as the actual direct harm they cause is only to themselves... off a building in a crowded city he should he stopped because of the larger afffect to everyone nearby.... off a remote bridge, cliff etc away from the general public where his act only really affects himself and feeds the local wildlife.... huck it... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -

i agree with the seeking.. i disagree with the source, at least early on.... churchs (synagogue, shrines, temple etc.. pick your relevant simile) are poor choices to begin with... as is an established religious institution they will not have the goal of having you find YOUR truth, but instead want you to reach THIER particular flavor of truth... far better to educate yourself on the basic tenets of the major religions first (its not a bad idea to examine some of the ‘dead religions’ as well, the reasons they ‘failed’ are very enlightening), then examine your own heart, mind and environment in search of the divine. Follow the path your personal search leads you on... what is fundamentally silly is the religious assertion that God will only speaks to you through others, is only to be found by reading what others say about him, that you can have no direct revelation apart from those of an organized religion, or that you need the social trappings of religion at all... God doesn’t hide, and you don’t need any one text or preacher to find her... you just have to teach yourself how to observe what is already in front of you ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

if it is actually a life or death the well trained soldier will simply kill/incapacitate (by breaking the joints usually as they are the weakest links) as quickly as possible and move on...thre is no 'round 3' (maim was previously preferred to kill because of the logistic problems WIA vs KIAs caused the enemy.. doctrine has likely changed since we now provide more assistance to the wounded than their own side) what every 'sport fight’ lacks is the incentive to kill. In fact there are often rules (as well as laws) against excessive force and the kind and type of attack that cause life threatening injury..... its a competition, not a matter of life or death.. the mindset and training methods are completely different... yes, but your looking at it backwards, what they KNOW is that getting engaged with any single opponent for any length of time (longer than 10 sec) is a good way to die... grappling is a very stupid way to fight unless you KNOW ABSOLUTLELY no one else will interfere... first guy on the ground in a 'real fight' (what you didnt bring friends? sucks to be you....) is also the first one to get kicked in the head... doesnt take to many of those to put anyone out... modern 'real' fights only end up on the ground because we have (as a society) trained NOT TO kill or otherwise maim as quickly as possible, because of the social/legal implications... its a contest, not a matter of life or death and the tactics reflect that.. Ever been in a ‘real fight’ where someone actually broke someone else’s arm? It is amazing how fast the sound of snapping bones stops a brawl...”OMG someone really got HURT!” when is the last time some got a thumb in the eye in a UFC? punched, fingers in the windpipe? broken knees, ankles, wrists, elbows at first contact?? doesnt happen...why? Because they are train to 'fight nice' and, NOT trained to kill or maim. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

whevever possible get a better hotel, with some sort of kitchen, the fuller the better.. extended stays, hawthorne suites, candlewood suites etc.. or even rent a apt/condo if your going to be there long enough... Z misses the test range at Cape San Blas my record is 2 months... and yes, that is toooo long... partly because having maid and laundry service for that long taught me some really bad habits for living at home... and partly because you really have no life when your on the road that much... the weather has been conspiring against weekends everywhere lately... bar hopping is fun in new towns for a while (if you dont have to drive).. otherwise I recommend seeing alot of movies and dating alot of bartenders...

Most dangerous religion for the future of the world
Zenister replied to CanuckInUSA's topic in Speakers Corner
not really. Religion is the most common breeding ground for extremism, it provides a social support system, an environment attractive to those who are often fundamentally unstable on their own, and offers a support structure that, so long as they remain inside the belief system, encourages it’s followers to define themselves solely through their religion, their 'privileged relationship' with the divine, and supposedly assured place in the universe. This leads to a narrow minded, religious population who cannot imagine, much less comprehend that their premade, heavily indoctrinated belief might ever be incorrect, uncertain or flawed in any manner, as it would mean their world view is equally incorrect, uncertain and flawed. Even simple questioning can raise the fear that everything they ‘know’ could be wrong and so they violently, fanatically retreat into the dogma that justifies their comfort zone, often becoming abusive, illogical and intolerant when pressed with questions unanswerable by the faith they have accepted.) Anything less would leave them not only with their inherent instability, but also with the knowledge that everything they have been taught for YEARS must also be called into question pushing them even farther over the edge of extremism… Religion might not be the source of extremist views, but it breeds and encourages more of them, more often than any other social phenomena ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
if the legalities that stem from any fatality or serious injury were not an issue.. LOTS less fights would ever reach the ground or last more than 10 seconds.. maybe you should look at the history of unarmed combat in war (where legalities are not an issue) they dont spend ANY time rolling around on the ground.. its a good way to get killed by someone other than your opponent... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

pretty much yea... going by the dogma if you havent accepted their particular deity as the 'one true god' and don’t live your life according to their doctrine you are going to their hell... or at least are not going to their heaven... which in my case is a good thing.. i cant imagine spending an eternity trapped with the majority of 'them' i mean have you heard the last 100 years of their music? I wonder if God even has the patience to sit through some of that drivel, and everyday! For eternity!! eghads….. based on the descriptions of their heaven, i'd be either very very bored, or transformed into a mind whipped drone with little relation to the individual who experienced this creation... Generally I believe God gets a good laugh ANYTIME a human tries to tell another one about their relative fate…even through supposedly ‘sacred’ texts…there is little difference between your neighbor telling you about hell and his ancestor telling your ancestors how they were going to hell too… all because they didn’t believe in this book, don’t follow their dogma.. and most importantly.. didnt give your cash to their church… ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

and the same song from the religious front appears,.. as soon as you point out the logical inconsistencies in their world view you are no longer 'questioning' but instead, "mocking and sarcastic".. if the pattern holds soon to follow will be, 'lying heathen' and 'of the devil's party' ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -

no no no... you're misreading what I said... whether an act is defined as true intercourse or not has NO bearing (sp?) on the status of the human being! A person is still a person even if he/she is the product of rape. And the direct, intentional killing of the product of rape is still the killing of innocent life. I don't go so far as to lable it murder, which is a legal term and not really applicable here. ah i see.. so as long as your just getting you rocks off its not really 'Intercourse' either.. so contraceptives use is OK? ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -

The Church would say they answer to a higher power. But you want to force them to do as you wish. if they provide emergency services (where a victim might have no say in where they ended up at) or if they take federal funding to support their facility, then their religious beliefs are secondary no matter who they claim as 'higher power'... he isnt paying for the utilities.. tax money is....everyone's tax money, not just those of a particular faith.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -

thanks for stating the obvious. and yes, it's quite sad, that many people are the product of lust and not from an act of mutual self-donation between spouses. The Church does indeed recognize this. Not quite sure what your point is. the point is,... that if Rape is not Intercourse (see above definition) and the majority of sexual acts are also 'not Intercourse' (same definition) than the only time abortion is murder (per the church's definition) is when it's performed by a couple that actually had 'Intercourse', which is quite a minority vs all the children born simply because someone got laid... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
