"Traffic Cop" is one of the worst insults to 'real' LEOs (and i have several in my family so i am speaking from experience) to be perfectly honest, its about best use of manpower and tax money.. Traffic citations are more about generating additional income than real public protection. In one case i had 4 cars (most of the shift in a small town) with me in GA because i was asking questions that were clearly intended to show the officer was FAR out of his operating parameters for the ticket he gave.. in that case i didnt even have to present my argument as the department had NO ONE show in court.. in cases like that the state OWES ME for my wasted time.. but of course hell will freeze over first... in addition anyone going 55 when the prevailing traffic is going 80 is CAUSING the problem.. and how many tickets have you given for "going to slow" (than the posted limit)? that RARELY happens, even when it consistantly causes more issues than consistantly (even speeding) moving traffic. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Quotas are illegal. Have been for some time actually. agreed. but they still exist, are still used and continual revenue expected. There are lots of 'legal' methods to induce higher revenue (when otherwise legal citations dip) that are simply a quota in sheeps clothing. I've had two relatives switch from city to county (sherriff's dept doesnt do traffic citations except in cases of obvious public safety issues) for exactly those reasons. this post would only be meaningful if there were any correlation with the ease of posting and the ease of making a skydive.. given that night jumps arent regular, and that packing, loading and jumping take significantly more time than any post. So, hypothetically speaking, you're going 50 in a 25 mph residential area and you know you're going 50 and you get busted for it and the officer's equipment also says you were going 50. You're fighting it because the officer was using the wrong equipment? if the conditions he was using it under were not valid for that device, absolutely. LEOs need to be held to the same standards as the public... of course IF he's smart he wont write a citation that DEPENDS on the accuracy of the device (if its out of its operating parameters) there are a number of 'lesser' citations he could give that are pretty much incontroverable (those based on the officers judgement). If he's fool enough to write one that is dependent on the measuring device, and its used out of parameters, (assuming i've got the time, sometimes the fine isnt worth my time) I'm going to make him justify it in court.. he's less likely to make the same error again afterwards... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

I fight speeding tickets because they have nothing to do with safety and everything to do with revenue, taxation without representation, referendum or legislative law. agreed. I also fight them as they are often given using means and measurements the devices in question are not capable/designed to make.. i've beaten quite a number of them due to improper use of equipment, and while individual officers are not getting paid 'on commision', the STATE/CITY/COUNTY counts on X number of violations to suplement income. Traffic Laws and violations are OFTEN structured to retain that income, and less than ethical pressures placed on officers and departments to produce the expected numbers. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

NOT assigned to the JTF saying "Army General" is meaningless with respect to his position and duties.. Refering to him by his Rank and assignment is common practice (particularly when being mentioned to someone outside his organization) for example an Army General assigned to a Joint Task Force IS a JTF General even if his branch is US Army (or other country) ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

I'll never understand how/why anyone can 'take pride' in something they had ABSOLUTELY NO CONTROL OR INFLUENCE in??? race, sex, country of origin etc... Now that we've really hijacked this thread...... Congratulations and its not just by chance that you wrote "take orders". Working in a hospital and being in the military are two totally different things. orders are orders, if you cant follow (or resent due to irrelevant reasons like age) the chain of command, there is a fundamental failure in discipline that needs to be addressed APART from any 'age based' resentment. the FACTS are the younger generation (of soldiers) is often FAR more qualified on the latest and greatest in equipment, tactics, techniques and procedures than the last. pretty much slim to none.. Even swooping, as much as i hate to say it hasnt got alot of chance IMO. Pretty much every other Olympic/Xgames sport is accessible to minors and 'amateurs', skydiving is not.. as a former X games skysurfer once pointed out to me.. Every kid can grab a $10 skateboard and pretend to be Tony Hawk. You cant do that with a skyboard or a canopy... and again as others have pointed out.. Olympic sports are considered 'safe' for the most part. They had to raise the maximum age AGAIN, and reduce physical fitness requirements AGAIN, to do so. and LOWER the entrance requirements for critical high tech skills MOS. which means those charged with training the 'substandard' material they are now being given are being asked to perform miracles, including training 'basic skills' like MATH... makes a great T-shirt, but is a piss poor way to run a Military or a War... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

depends on the friend really.. few friends are as honest and objective as a therapist. Those that are, because they actually care about you and wish to see you PROGRESS not STAGNATE, are your TRUE friends, but they are often the ones that get pushed away as well..... edit: one example.. I have a friend (i still consider him my friend even if he doesnt) who has Anger Management issues.. we used to be ALOT alike.. when he was fired for his behavior (even though he was provoked) he claimed he didnt need help either... so i asked him (after getting into a fight actually, not the best method of therapy but im not a therapist) why he was so pissed off... he still didnt/doesnt know... but its because his buttons are so big and obvious and easily pressed that the rest of the assholes in the world can set him off at will.... ultimately..
