agreed. learning to recognize productive behavior vs unproductive behavior is key, and it part of the learning process. One that is sadly neglected in modern society... "do nothing which is of no use" does anger help your situation? (there are times when it, or the appearance of it does, but they are few and far between) are you making clear decisions and just letting off steam?? or does the anger become the primary motivator? Feeling Angry isnt a problem... any more than Feeling any other emotion.. letting your Emotions 'push you around' is short sighted, unproductive, silly and generally adolescent behavior.. making people angry is a decent way to control them actually... Not letting someone anger you, pushes the control in your direction ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

"Plot twist by committee" is a piss poor way of writing anything even remotely good.. the only thing keeping this show going is the Hype machine and the Public's gullability.. dont expect any answers.. there never were any good questions to begin with, they didnt have a good story arc when they started, and its only gotten worse since..... another fine example of how little talent is required to write for television audiences... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

a wet skydiver/canopy would be more reflective and larger surfaces with hard angles are more reflective as well... dust and insects would be largely insignificant ON a skydiver.. but they do allow the airflow to be 'illuminated' under the right conditions... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

efficiently? no. Detectibly? yes. there are documented cases of (airborne) radar picking up leaves from trees... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

Yup. At least to me, spending half your life on the road for work is not a badge of status. I still have my cards for most and they kick in automatically when the admins make reservations but other than overseas travel i dont bother with upgrades or early boarding, the rental car upgrades are nice as i can pretty much pick whatever is available, but apparenly i look a bit to much like someone else.. and if i'm sitting in 1st Class it causes all sorts of issues i'd rather just avoid than have to pretend to be polite when i just want to sleep.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

' not really the Artistic "subject" is the proverbial "Pink Rhinoceros in the corner" the subject/thought/fact everyone is aware of but continues to ignore for whatever socialization reasoning.... the color is important as it abstracts the idea into the absurd... (vs a 'normal rhino" being simply out of place) it is also the concept referenced by Douglas Adams 'SEP' or "Somebody Else's Problem" People only see what they want to/expect to see and can blithly ignore the most amazing things that dont fit their preconceptions... as an artistic idea its very good.. but imo this execution was rather lame.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

while i think the uproar in this thread is completely silly, your post is a good example of cultural bias.. they CAN absolutely tell who is who... its not hard to identify someone even in full garb IF you are used to doing so... Americans simply are not... hell half of them identify people by their CAR more than any real physical attributes... "Bob? Drives an Subaru?" etc... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

before i had eye surgery i wore Gatorz with contacts for a number of jumps with no issues.. I was able to find a pair that left very litte exposed space and with a croakie tie on under my helmet never moved at any speed.. (and even survived me trying to bounce) some people will have better luck than others based on facial type.. I lost 2 contacts while trying different goggles and its not fun to land half blind.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

properly calibrated radar can detect the differences between specular and non-specular returns from nearly any 'reflective' surface. Its mostly a matter of having enough resolution avail in the area while the formation is exposed at optimal angles. most skydiving activities would generally fall in the realm of clutter, but could still be observed. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

I think they had a plan initially, for what they wanted to do when SH was gone. I think they just got sidetracked into the politically correct BS and lost focus on winning the war first. no actually they didnt.. do some research.. in fact you'll find a thread here that has a link to the records of meetings where our incompetent civilian leadership THREATENED Military officers for ATTEMPTING to plan for what their Clear Expertise and Experience KNEW would happen... but of course the Political Necessity to 'sell it to the people as quick and easy' outweighed the Military Necessity to plan for the realities of war... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
So what uf no one recalls (the way others 'expect' them to) and/or celebrates their continued life and liberty in a manner not personally fitting for you? Why not another day to do so?? I'd say those who 'expect' someone else to act in the manner 'they' feel is appropriate to the occasion are missing the point entirely... I'll gladly take more 'officially recognized' days off. Days I decide my schedule and activities for any reason, ANY reason, whatsoever... if i dont like the 'cause' i can (and do) ignore it completely, (witness MLK Day aka Robert E. Lee's Bday, to be perfectly honest.. who the hell cares which one you personally cite as a reason for Celebration/Memorial). What a holiday "is for", what ANY Holiday "is really about" is whatever YOU WANT IT TO BE ABOUT... isnt Freedom a wonderful thing? the simple progression of the gregorian calendar as it coincides with historical events is ONLY AS PERSONALLY RELEVANT as YOU want it to be... me? I'm not working on Sept 27th and if i were Emperor it would be a National Holiday as well another day everyone can use to celebrate Life and Liberty in ANY manner they wish....... no its not my B-day) paid is best, but i'll take time off without pay as well. Time is more important than money....you can always acquire more money.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

very simple.. on any day you are not at work, you can honor any cause, in any manner you wish... if you are at work your employers demands override your desires.. Freedom is a lovely thing, well worth defending and celebrating.. I'll wager those who say dont need 'another day off' probably arent working very hard when they are there.... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.

The army (well at least my unit) just dosen't care!!!

sorry been thru 30+ years of Military Ceremony as an observer, a participant and an honoree. they are (generally) a complete waste of time and resources, both while they are ongoing and while they prepare for them. Imagine how much better average soldier would be trained if all the at time and effort were focused on ACTUAL TRAINING? But i suppose having an entire Division break training to clean a parade ground makes sense? how about bringing out a Brigade to police the front gates so 'visiting dignitaries' wont see any stray trash on their way to someones retirement?? or better yet... the MILLIONS spend yearly on Parade grounds and Review stands instead of Equipment and Training... how many manhours do you think the military wastes ON PLANNING AND SCHEDULING ALONE for these Ceremonies.. and while i'd be REALLY interested in meeting anyone who can claim a one, much less "a hundred" Combat Jumps, i dont have any interest in watching them walk by in a Ceremony. You dont learn anything watching a parade, no matter how well dressed or organized... nor is there alot of value in having a significant portion of your unit practicing marching maneuvers (all for a change of command that could be accomplished far more simply and effectively by the CMDrs who are rotating. All so the same silly Ceremony can be repeated in just over a year anyway..) that have NO BEARING on modern warfare... Tradition and Honor and the Ceremonies that go along with it certainly has its place... in an Honor Guard with a Ceremonial unit, or one made up of those who have chosen to participate (maybe they have alot of free time with no real pressing responsibilities, but who knows????) I was once a Guidon in that Pass and Review..(being tall and being taught how to march at a young age sucks) and just like every other silly Ceremony i've been a part of, there was ALWAYS something else far more productive i could have been doing instead....both Professionally and Personally, but of course my time wasnt my own.... if you want to learn the lessons of history.. Visit the Locations, Read the accounts, TALK to the Vets..... watching/participating in a parade wont teach you any lessons at all... ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -

the Army has a long history of "Standing to Close to the Flag pole" It has rather silly ceremonies for nearly everything.. ostensibly because "they" believe it builds Esper de Corps... but the reality is they generally do them because "we've always done them" even if it makes no sense to anyone still living and serving. "Stop making sense, the Army doesnt pay you for it" in fact it seems to be actively discouraged in many units... anyone who wants to make their own decisions based on their personal timeline and desires..... shouldnt join the military ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed. -
JT if you still work around a flight line, get that checked.. or at least documented so that your paid disability when you get out.... lots of aircrew, flightline and gun bunny types all tend to have some hearing loss that is directly job related.. ____________________________________ Those who fail to learn from the past are simply Doomed.
